  1. I rather enjoyed it, and think it was well written. I'm surprised there haven't been more replies considering the quality of work posted. Good use of the limited live instruments available. Live performances always help the overall product.
  2. I feel retarded now. They are Event Studio Precision 8 monitors. I don't think they make them anymore, but they sound awesome. I prefer them well over the Mackie HR-824's, which I was think about getting at the time. I currently have them set up as my speakers for my TV, because its speakers blow real hard. No surround sound yet.
  3. LOL I never thought of them as acoustic treatment. I believe they help some, but nothing like the actual stuff. The "monitor" is an HDTV, I have it hooked up for teh m0vies. Thanks to my Radeon 5770 for running all 3 at once.
  4. 5. QLSO Symphonic Orchestra Gold (plus extra mic positions I think). I believe that's all that was used. Nothing extra.
  6. This is something I started as a theme for a possible future game. It's a bit short, but I may expand on it later. Yay for orchestra goodness. http://www.jaredhudson.com/temp/skyavengers_demo_theme.mp3
  7. I'm a fan of DFH. You just have to learn how to program is right, and especially mix it. If you're not already doing it, you'll want 8 tracks. Close mic cymbals, toms, snare, bass, and same with far mic. This way you can freely adjust the positioning and channel certain compression on the tracks needed, then throw them all through a final compressor. You'll want it somewhat deep to really give that "smack" sound. Also, boosting 60hz on the bass drum can really give it a "thump" as well. This is a track a friend and I put down with his guitar, bass, and all DFH drums. We mixed it similar to what I just said. http://www.jaredhudson.com/music/Jared%20and%20Abram%20-%20Satri%20Groove.mp3 BTW....digging that insane metal track. I was laughing from it's awesomeness.
  8. Thanks. Glad that you like it and turned you on to this site. :)

  9. I heard about this anime called Dragonball Z. I hear it's got some balls n shit, and lots of fighting and screaming for about 1000 episodes straight.
  10. Did you mention exactly how much RAM you have? I know that 32-bit should see a solid 3.5GB as a norm. However, if you are making the 64-bit jump.....Windows 7 can't get here fast enough. WinXP 64-bit as others said isn't exactly practical, and Vista in itself is very bloated. Windows 7 is supposed to fill that gap. I always recommend erase installs for any new OS. Your performance will be its best when doing that. I don't know how daring you are, but you could download the Windows 7 64-bit Release Candidate (very stable) for free, and at least use it until the Retail version comes out. Just a thought.
  11. Maybe you bought your phone out of contract, but a lot of people that read threads like this or jailbreak sites ARE still in contract. The main concern here is persuading newbies into doing something without knowing the consequences. Risk: Denied Service Downside to User: Denied Service, phone not covered under warranty. Do anything you want with your own phone, it is yours. People just need to be aware that a jailbroken phone will be denied serviced at an Apple Store.
  12. I believe it's a matter of perception. I may have come across that way, but to me, it's like teaching how to pirate software in a public forum, which is my main point. Oh sure it can be a learning process and have benefits, but that doesn't make it very ethical, not including the risks that could affect phones of curious users in this thread. For god sake, he's teaching people how to breach Apple and ATT agreements he himself said was "illegal". My recommendation is stick to the specialized jailbreak sites, and not flood the info into others. The poster may have good intentions, but it may also bring bad results to many.
  13. Oh man. I rocked my home built pc all the time in college. Just a laptop is nice, but having a desktop.....even at college, is a nice battle station to come back to. That's just me though. Plus, what would you do if your laptop needed service or repaired? Do you wanna hit the labs on late nights?
  14. Your last paragraph makes me laugh. You quickly forget that the iphone revolutionized the cell phone industry, creating something nobody, and I mean NOBODY had anything close to. Everyone was "shitting bricks" when it came out, including yourself, which you now have. You're talking shit about the original iphone, when even 2 years later, no one has come close, not even the Palm Pre. Also, comparing something like Voice Dial to "screwing over" independent programmers is ridiculous. Voice Dial was on my LG in 2004. They're recreating basic functionality available for years in a new SDK, but not ripping ideas from their app store developers. That's absurd (wait....Picasso / Jobs phrased that great arists STEAL.......you might be on to something). However, for basic functionality, that's like trying to copyright numbers. I admit it was stupid for apple to take that long for crap like copy/paste, but apparently that didn't matter to too many people. It's the most sold domestic phone in America. Oh, and when did shake2shuffle start? Cause my records show September 08. App Store was out July 08. Are you going to tell me a black market app jailbroken phone had it first? Oh, and how clumsy is apple at programming again? Enlighten me. Jailbreak for all I care. I won't deny the functionality it adds, but it also depends how deep you go in jailbreaking it. I still standby the fact that if you get heavy handed in the crap you jailbreak it with, it will hurt the performance (especially those shitty themes). Did I mention worse battery life? I know plenty of people who've jailbroken (heavily I might add), who by the way are VERY proficient in technology. I've seen it too many times first hand, and so have others. If you're smart and selective, it can be a great thing. Eating a few chocolates is fine. Eating the whole fucking bag is just going to make you barf.
  15. If you already have a good case and power supply, you can build some serious guts: Core i7 920 Nehalem 12GB G Skill DDR3 1333mhz ASUS P6T Deluxe Runs around $600 at newegg.com. By end of summer, I imagine it'll be attainable under $500. AAAAAH.....the power of building your own comps.
  16. In my opinion it's not worth it. With the 3.0 software and the App Store, I believe the cons out weight the pros when you jail break. It's buggy, it's slow, and god help you if you need to get it serviced. You better reload the original software ASAP. I've actually seen phones get fried by faulty software. I hacked my RAZR to enable over the air bluetooth file transfer, but the iPhone is loaded to the roof with features where it doesn't make sense to jail break anymore. I'll trust the programmers in Cupertino rather than the Johnny Coder in mom's basement.
  17. The specs are beefier, but what exactly are you looking for in the price? 3 hours of battery life? Considering that is the optimal life, that's not very good considering it's supposed to be a LAPTOP, not a portable desktop. Even the 5 star reviews admitted the construction was flimsy, and 17" is uncommonly huge. This may be a good deal for a portable gaming rig, but for on the go computing, you need better battery life than an optimal 3 hours. It's the difference between a loaded Honda Civic with leather at a cheaper price, or get a base price Lexus. Seriously, which would you choose? Also, if you have an educational discount, the 13" Macbook Pro is $1099. This should be in your Top 3 picks for a possible laptop. For what you're getting (beyond specs), it's a no brainer. Let's also not forget Macs run EVERYTHING (OS X, Windows, Linux, etc).
  18. It costs more, but DAMN you get more. I'll run over main factors, rather than mainly specs: 13" Macbook Pro for $1199 (updated from June 8th 2009) Aluminum Unibody (very solid construction) Small form factor (portable) Premium LCD (same as Air and 15") OS X Leopard and iLife 09 (kicks the flying shit out of windows vista, although you can still run it for games) 7 Hour Battery Life Backlit keyboard, webcam, Firewire 800 (for audio gear or hard drives) 9400M Video card if he decides to play games (Runs TF2 at high settings) WORLD CLASS CUSTOMER SUPPORT (you won't get any better, I promise) Perfect integration if he has an ipod or iphone http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/ If you are anywhere near shopping for a sub $1000 notebook, seriously consider making the splurge for the 13" macbook pro. You will NOT regret it. It's not overpriced. You are just getting a hell of a lot more besides specs.
  19. Nice funky wurlitzer (am I right?). I am such a sucker for wurlitzers and rhodes. Then again, who isn't? I liked it. Not what I expected.
  20. Tight, great performances!! This made me want to head bang at my chair, and then get on Guitar Hero. Overall, this mix is solid, although I wish it wasn't as "tinny" sounding. I'm wondering if guitars were recorded "Line In" on this. I'm betting with the right amps and mics, with the same performance, this could be a 10/10. The mix hurt this more than anything, but the arrangement and performance kicks ass. Bravo.
  21. This remix brought a smile to my face. It's nice to see a piece in such a daring genre. Bravo for the arrangement, and the recording wasn't half bad either.
  22. I don't even know what this is yet, other than just experimenting, and slamming it together. I mean, it doesn't have a direct melody yet, but I'm thinking long black trench coats with glow sticks. It's like The Matrix meets Streets of Rage. So far, mainly synth with strings/brass, but a dash of woodwinds. Eventually, I may add some scratch vocals. Seriously, the title so far is OMGWTF http://www.jaredhudson.com/music/omgwtf.mp3
  23. I haven't poked my head in the remixing scene in awhile, however, I've been working in the musical world for quite some time. For anyone looking for new music from new bands, this is a brand new electro-rock band that's under a neo-label that I work for. (they're big gamers too, possibly a remix coming). Hot new tracks and music videos are all available for streaming and free downloads! Screw DRM. If you like NIN, Dream Theater, Deftones, etc....this is somewhere around there. 24. Thx. I tried going for a different angle than I'm used to writing. I've always focused on acoustic type stuff, but this pure electronic area is quite fun (although I did have a piano in this...DOH).
