  1. I am not too sure how Kontakt works, but: are you talking to outsource just the samples itself? If Kontakt preloads samples into the RAM of the DAW I see no reason why it would affect your live performance. Of course loading times of projects and preset loading in Kontakt itself will also take longer - everything that accesses the external hdd will take longer than an internal flow. so with Kontakt itself on your internal drive, but your samples outsourced, i think you can still do good. Although I could be horribly wrong - as I said, I am not sure how Kontakt actually works in terms of data transmission and sample loading. Just an idea. cheers, -Luhny
  2. nice find, thanks. this is a must have if i should ever posess something apple related except my super old ipod nano
  3. My condolences. Rest in peace, Mr. Nielsen.
  4. Japanese voice acting is a two sided sword. I think that in cartoons of asian origins (Anime, etc.) the original japanese voice acting is mostly superior to any translated dub. I know you cannot lump everything together, but for the most part I prefer the japanese original with subtitles. The flaw of any kind of translation is the failure to represent the Japanese social structure. You rarely have the -san, -chan, -kun, -sama, -senpai, etc. relations in the translation. Even how people interact and chose their levels of politeness cannot really be grasp in a translation without losing some sort of meaning. That said, I think no translated dub of an Anime can represent what the real meaning of the dialog between two people is. A whole different story are other voice acting categories. When japanese people try to dub movies or cartoons of European or American origin, it just does not feel right in any kind of way. Who of you ever watched Star Wars - A New Hope in Japanese? It's terrible, IMO. The whole movie dialog was never meant to be translated and adapted to a Japanese grammar and their politeness levels and whatnot. In video games, it's the same: Most anime related games work best in japanese with subtitles - IMO, whilst I cannot even begin to imagine how strange a Dragon Age or Mass Effect would sound in Japanese... nah, that's a no no (for me). So I guess it depends on the origins and what the creators intended to transfer from the screen to the consumer. And of course these are no facts, just my personal opinion. I am glad that tastes are different Cheers, -Luhny
  5. I will get mine on the way soon, probably tomorrow - depends on how long I have to work.
  6. Very insightful article. All the remixers comments featured in the article go way beyond a fact based interview. There is alot of heart in there, pretty much a private thing. I love this family-feeling. And of course you will always have the haters. If they can feed their e-penis that way - so be it. My opinion still stands: if you can't be polite, be quiet
  7. my 2 cents: never had any problem with ETG so far, although I must say that I would enjoy features like nicksrv, etc. best experiences I made with IRC was at espernet and quakenet.
  8. Congratulations on this package, I adore the sound quality of the loops. Great, great job. I am sure this will be useful to many, many musicians. *two thubs up* (would do 3, but I only have 2...)
  9. Oh, I think I was unclear: The PodXT rules, it does its job more than satisfying. I was more getting at personal preference and how comfortable I felt with how the sound of the amp modeling developed over the years. Yeah, the handling of the HD500 is pretty arkward IMO, also that the effect processors cannot handle much more than 3-4 effects in one chain. Anyways I returned mine and I will wait for in integration into the next Podfarm.
  10. Same here, for the same reasons as you. I will stay away from the HD line until they actually integrate it into a PodFarm 3 or something. Funny... I guess that's the beauty of tastes. I was just the opposite: Loved 2.0, hated XT's and found peace with X3's
  11. People often tend to say "ah, the good old days" - but in this case it's the truth. Heh, good old days indeed.
  12. Go for it, this kicks some major a$$ if I dare say it.
  13. Talon Theme kicks a$$ - you can't go wrong with that source. As Rozovian said, it tends to be most on the left side, so more panning would help. And the staccatos seem to drown a bit, while they should give you that punch in the face for that epic build up feeling in the intro, etc. Otherwise keep going. I think this could be a great addition in the future. The more SaGa songs, the merrier
  14. This is a very interesting and fun piece to listen to. I like the idea of taking a very catchy and upbeat tune and turn it into something slower and more gentle, but still maintaining the greatness of the tune itself. Well done, thanks for sharing this.
  15. I read you love Final Fantasy 3 for DS? Then you might try Final Fantasy 4 on the DS. I think it is a very decent port of the original game and if you like the style and system of FF3(DS) then I am pretty sure you will find a good time with FF4(DS). just my 2 cents.
  16. This sounds awesome. I am in. Sending PM info... I have no special wishes, it's the thought itself that counts.
  17. Accoustic guitars are great. Be it a 40 bucks nylon you torture or let others abuse at some campfire or something more professional... they all have their certain place in my heart. I especially like the sounds of Baton Rogue guitars - I think they give alot of bang for the buck (once you reached the 300 bucks segment, that is. below that they are just as budget as any budget guitar). If I could throw money out of the window though I would really like to have some 12-string Ovation. Opinions are split, but I like Ovation.
  18. No need for extra work, I was just wondering if you have them in pressed form. For my fetish of putting it on the shelf a high-res version of the artworks would suffice, I guess. I have my ways to get a nice looking printout (thermal sublimation or something like that). PS: glad to hear it's nothing serious or dramatic... you know I was imagining some horrible stuff for a moment there which I do not want to really share now that I know that it's not like that.
  19. Sounds interesting. Hm... you do not actually happen to have CDs of those albums as well? I am not against digital purchase, but with cover artworks this nice I think it would be shame to just have it in the music collection on the computer. I would prefer the good old "have it on my shelf" way if possible... I don't really know what's going on - it sounds rather dramatic and sad. So yeah - my best wishes that things get better, whatever might be wrong. cheers, luhny
  20. I am amazed of that talent to take a short original tune and mix it into a song that is over 3 minutes without getting boring or too repetitive - which is displayed here in all its might. Great choice of instruments too, it fits all well together. A very fun mix to listen to, thanks for sharing this.
