  1. As usual constructive critique is appreciancient. Sorvi. ihaventslept https://soundcloud.com/williamthurin/ancient-constructs-wings-of-wi-remix-wip edit: original http://ashtonmorris.bandcamp.com/track/ancient-constructs
  2. Yeah just the instrument by itself is definitely the most useful types of demos. I agree about the transition between the notes sounds kinda iffy. I thought Friedlander Violin was a solo violin library not ensamble? It definitely sounds very nice though but 125$ is a bit too much atm but I'll keep it in mind in case embertone does any sales in the future.
  3. New violin sample library for 30 gpb/45 dollars release price (until 11th february I think). Unfortunately there aren't many naked demos of it but since it's very cheap I've been thinking of taking the risk cause even if not all of it is good there's a lot of content so hopefully something is worth it. Here's the demos: https://soundcloud.com/aria-sounds/sets/lss-first-violins Official page for the library http://ariasounds.com/symphonic_strings_kontakt_orchestral_violin_1.html I'm considering making a few demos if I do get it. If anyone has any experience with Aria sounds I'd definitely like to hear about it.
  4. Really interesting composition, the mixing and mastering is holding it back quite a lot though I think. The pause between the end to beginning loop is a bit long in my opinion but it's probably good the way it is. It feels a bit empty even though there's lots of interesting instrumentation going on I think because of how the sound field is presented, if it was less muddy and more high frequency content it'd probably sound more full. The reverb could be slightly larger perhaps to make it sound more grand. The low frequency percussion is a bit weak as well and wouldn't hurt to be layered with something else. I like, it's interesting and has good pacing with enough going on in the song to listen to when it loops.
  5. Not sure if's different enough to be a remix? edit: Original: edit 2: there's many versions of this song so it's hard to say which is the original except the actual FF1 version, I don't know which one I had in mind, probably the FF8 version since I've listened to that OST most recently.
  6. Hunter's Haven is beautiful and has that firelink shrine feeling albeit a bit more comforting.
  7. I see "phrase and convenience" libraries more as additions but yeah it basically almost is like working with loops to make your "own" song. I remember there being a thread about exactly that on OCR before. At which point you are making the music or just piecing it together with blocks. If you are going to have a chord progression it might be better to use a phrase-convenience library but a song consisting only of phrases I dunno that sounds a little boring to make to me.
  8. Would buy I was thinking about buying rhapsody but percussion is the least I need in orchestral sampling right now, unless it's a dedicated chime library (Revo please hook me up). An orchestral library with decent legato from Impact Soundworks, that'd be something. I even have my 10% off coupon from purchasing shreddage+bass bundle.
  9. Yeah I understand it's obviously not going to be cheap but this library isn't even a separate project? It's a collection of work that they have already done before and it's only 1 mic position. It also bothers me that the non student price vs student is so massive. I would've gotten DaCapo during last sale as well if it wasn't for the very small ranges of the instruments. Yes I'm very picky but I'd rather stick with what I have atm with the options available. Albion is really the only one I'm considering, which is not cheap either but it has a lot more going for it in my opinion.
  10. That's disappointing, since I'm neither a student or full time teacher I won't be getting this. Lately the price vs content hasn't been very good in orchestral ensemble libraries in my opinion, DaCapo feels overpriced to me as well as the ranges of the instruments is unfortunate. I wish I bought EWQL when it was on Kontakt (no scripts now and have to use usb). Back to waiting for a new orchestral sample library release.
  11. Yeah I think the price tag will be up there, considering they have 50% off for full time students and teachers. If it is 200 it'd be 100 for students, that sounds really low.
  12. Anyone hyped or excited for this? http://cinesamples.com/product/cinesymphony-lite The only thing to me that is a little lackluster is the lack of legato but it could be worth getting despite that depending on the price, which hasn't been announced yet - how many $ bills do you think it'll cost?
  13. http://ariasounds.com/ has sort of a "too good to be true" deal on their percussion library. The rest of the solo instruments are really cheap too. None talking about Aria sounds so thought I'd post it here.
  14. http://tindeck.com/listen/ohir It was going to be a RPG song but it gives me more of a 2D platformer vibe. What's your take on it? Any ideas for a title?
  15. Recently I haven't felt like making music, so not very often. I think I'll be in the mood for it again eventually.
  16. Spitfire audio has some really cheap donate Kontakt instruments, it's like 2 gbp per donation if I remember correctly. The Felt Piano is really nice. They might not work with the free Kontakt player though.
  17. Yes I know. Good that you clarified it for anyone reading my post though. Considering how much content you seem to get (less so if you don't care for the variation) and the fact it has Hans Zimmer branding I thought it would be around 499 GBP.
  18. Around 200 GB after the update oh boy. It's cheaper than I thought it'd be, 299 release price and then 399. It looks like it uses quiet a lot of ram per patch but it sounds really good. There is a lot of variation of the sounds if you are into that.
  19. I think Metroid did it mostly well. If you want to show the player how the character looks more thoroughly you can do it through cutscenes, stills or even artwork outside of the game. That way the image of it will be projected to the restricted version in game. Personally I think you can leave the character to the imagination if it's centered around gameplay.
  20. Final Fantasy, used to listen to midi versions of it because of slow modem internet. Good times. Somehow those midis managed to sound better than the FF7 PC rerelease.
  21. Did you get to try them yet? I've been looking at the 24$ Taiko one myself.
  22. My favorites this season are Ace of Diamond, Yowamushi Pedal. I think it's cause I'm in a mood for sports animes. Hajime no Ippon not as much but I'll give it a few more eps. Oh and Teekyu is still good. Overall I'm happy with the season lineup. They'll probably not show Madoka in Sweden, maybe in Stockholm on a special event but I haven't heard of that before. I think I'd prefer watching Madoka alone anyways, although watching it in a cinema would be pretty sweet.
  23. Sweet, the mid build was too drawn out for my taste but other than that as a whole cool piece, enjoyable listen. The very start is pretty Ghibli. The strings are quiet on second listen, and they could have more life with more dynamics.
