  1. I decided to put it in Mod Review since I've just finished, and thought you'd tell me about the monitor thing I've complained about on the first post ;P
  2. One day, I decide to play the drums. One year later, I quit. One day, I decide to play the guitar. A few months later, I quit. One day, I decide to play the piano. One year later, I quit. So I've messed with the flute a bit, then I quit. [...] XD You see, I've always enjoyed music, but I think my real desire was to join everything in order to make an actual orchestrated song. So, when I bought FL Studio , I knew I'd finally get the chance to do that. At first, of course, I experienced some difficulty on porting what I thought to FL playlist. But there's always OC ReMix to teach us a thousand! My taste for music varies a lot according to how the soundscape develops itself (the 'see and feel what you hear' thing), so I might like to listen to almost every genre available. There's a preference for uplifting kinds of song, though, and I pretty much enjoy listening to electronica. What about my decision on trying to mix electronica with some exotic rhythms? Y'know, besides brazilian music, I grew up having fun with greek, arab, japanese, tibetan, chinese, argentine, mexican, spanish, african, turkish, german, indian and so on; as long as those tunes sounded good, I'd have them on my computer! ;P
  3. Ribbit! Y'know, I'm still quite excited about my first published mix \@/, and this time I've been messing with arab countries in general. I decided to make a peaceful, yet dancey mix, and thought I'd get some feedback. Follow the link: http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=861 -> not available anymore http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=867 Source's the intro theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvg_zTUCSI0 I've got a problem with a few arab percussion elements. The ones panned to the right sound okay from the headphones, but turns to be quite loud if I change them for the monitor (in which the sound quality comes terribly low). Is it just my monitor or should I make some adjustments? Also, feel free to express some more crits if needed. ...And that's still a working title, that means "peace (be) upon your heart" if I'm not mistaken ;P
  4. Thank u! And yea, there's more DKR that I plan to cover ;)

  5. Hey guys, thank you soooo much for the feedback! I'm soooo glad this could make it! =D Actually I'm not a pro, but I study music by trying to keep an eye on everything that the judges say on approved and rejected mixes, so the ears should also get better. I also like doing some music research, but, indeed, the experience of listening to many different kinds of song since childhood helps a bit. And I thought I'd let you guys know, there's more DKR to come from me!
  6. Bump! Well, this might be my last try to bring it up for criticism. What issues do you hear in the arrangement? Is it cool enough for the judges? Just as a reminder, the last update's here: http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=806 Source's below: Thanks guys!
  7. Hey, Nutritious! I see... Maybe something like this:http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=806 I dunno if I understand, but I guess that means there's some parts where the piano needs some 'playing hardness' variations, especially during the intro?Well, I'll keep waiting on your feedback
  8. A bit of a feedback for ya: The drums (mainly cymbals) are 'eating' themselves or something . I see you're using FL Studio; it looks like those samples were put directly to the step sequencer and added to the playlist, without further mastering. Also, I guess the 'eating' problem might be due to one same pattern being put consecutive times, one right after another, in a short amount of time on the playlist. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Still on drums, they're indeed very quiet, and so sequenced it sounds mechanical. You might consider some variation on volume and hardness on cymbals; same for the snare, and a higher volume on that would also help. I like the guitar, by the way! Very cool soloing!
  9. Dunno if it's been answered already, but I'll ask it anyway: I've noticed there's mixes from quite a time ago that're still in the "To Be Posted" list, including a YES'd from 2008. I understand they're never 'closed' decisions until they appear on the frontpage, but why is it that some rearrangements seem to wait more than the others to make it?
  10. Yo, thank you Binjovi! My sister loves Bon Jovi by the way The rapidfire percussion's a marriage among some shy castanets, tambourine and claps; though, as you said, they indeed felt a bit mechanical. Actually, I noticed the whole song sounded a bit too sequenced, so I took your tip and tried to humanize percussion, piano, bandoneon and added just a lil' 'up' to the bass during the second clarinet soloing. I think it feels quite better now ^^ Thanks again, and I'm putting this into Mod Review. So now, follow these: Remix: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?iidt0ziyniz I also updated the original post, in which you might listen to the source. Ribbit!
  11. Aww... I'd say this sounds quite charming! *_* For now I can't see any issues with the song. I mean, I might say something if you expand it (if you will), but it's really pretty as it is. I think your fiancée will be very happy! Still, you might wanna see the others comment about it. That's my opinion anyway.
  12. Bump, again. Anyone? ._. http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=779 Same link from previous post, just a reinforcement. 766 was deleted.
  13. Hulla! Sir, this is WEIRD! It's so weird that I just love it Still, I don't think this fits the website standards. The whole mix's so conservative it almost sounds like a cover. During a lot of moments, I can hear the exact same melody from the original source, played with different instruments and a few (nice) effects inbetween. It's also very sequenced, and lacks some variation, specially from 0:01 to 1:42. As you say, though, the overall result is a fun, zoing-zoing tune. I like it!
  14. Me! I'm not that good at commenting on chiptune style songs, but Castle really makes me travel to the times when I enjoyed games from my Atari ; Do a Barrel Roll's like a Master System(?) version of Tetris. Apart from the mistakes you might've been told about, it's quite fun to listen to!
  15. Bleh... you're a weird one, xD

  16. Yup, there's also Nekofrog here. Don't call me furry though, I don't like it. :P

  17. I pretty like it! ^^ Apart from the reverb issue, I think you worked well on piano humanization. Those strings, though, sound a bit thin, and the song seems to lack something like, I dunno... a bit of variation. Actually you've done a great job with the piano melody, but the remix overall needs some more emotion to it. For example, you could bring the strings up at times, and also vary its playing a bit. It's quite cool, though. That's just my try-to-help-it-get-better.
  18. Ribbit! Update again, now with a better variation on harmony. http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=779 So, what do you say on production issues, mixing and the overall musical aspects? I'd like some criticism before I can send this.
  19. I've just finished the song, but it's up to adjustments depending on the comments/criticism. Hope you like it! http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=766
  20. Update: Song's in Mod Review! I think the rhythm of the source song fits a tango beat quite well, so that's why I went Argentina this time. What do you think? Remix: http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=790 Source:
  21. Brass came from hammersound.net. By the way, I've just made a lil' update and adjusted its EQ and reverb (I noticed the trumpet was 'eating' the other instruments too much, especially on the song chorus). There's also a minor melody change on the first marimba verses, a small drum transition to España Cañi (merely a ton-ton loop) and some tiny volume variation on a few instruments. You can tell these are "small" kinda adjustments indeed, but I think they were "a bit" effective =P Yup, hope the judges approve it \o/
  22. Up (went to 2nd page =P). Still waiting for criticism before I send this one. So, do you really think the ending suits the song well enough? I've been thinking on whether I should remove it or not. I'd change the mix name if removal's necessary.
  23. Glah, thanky Blue Magic! But still, I'd appreciate some more detailed feedback on it. I think there might be some thingies that need improvement (for now, I intend to change the initial marimba melody in a few parts, and maybe do something about the breakdown, dunno), so if you guys could help on the technical side, I might become sure that this won't have many problems with the judges =D
