  1. \@/ I think Smileyspot is nice for breakfast, Of Sea and Fire okay for lunch, and Moontang for dinner; Magical El Lagarto feels great for any espectáculo bailable too ^^
  2. Wow! Talk about a different type of music. Hi-tech industrial or something? That's BoMbY-BoOm! Your sounds are pretty HyPnOtIzInG. Those synths catch through my brain like lasers, and those PuMpY kicks taste like pulsar. Really dig what you've done at 0:42-1:00, as a break for the FaIrY-rObOtS to come with something that's even more penetrating (I'd just have a transition in which the sounds slowly fade in for that section to come smoothly). But damn, everything's so incredibly well mixed. 1:00-1:57; ...holy machine. That's not lasers anymore, that's freaking electric bazooka. I feel like having a lockin' dance here. Excellent work 1:58-2:37 is probably the only section I'm not the happiest with due to its loudness, but I'm still happy. In general, though, I'm also for variety to wobble patterns, in order to let the song keep grabbing the listener's attention. Also, ending's a bit anti-climactic as it comes after such a crowded performance. Now, the way you worked on the source... I see you've made the chords from the original longer, and the progression's the same. Still, sounds like a different track. Hard for me to say whether that's good or not for OCR. Finally, when I compare this to other songs, it sounds like this one's loud in the mid-frequencies. I'd shave a bit from them on the master track EQ ;D Yup, you seem to have some experience, dude, coz this is VERY good! ^^
  3. Gee-hee I see you use FL, so just go to the mixer window and take away the fruity limiter to solve overcompression issues for now. You'll need to adjust the levels of the instruments on the mixer afterwards. For dry sounds... Really, you'll need to 'wet' them. Putting EQUO or Parametric EQ on a desired instrument gives you a clue of the levels from their frequencies, so I'd play with that. You could also add reverb where it's needed, for example. Put flangus and adjust the wet knob, add delay, dunno, it's up to you (as long as you don't mess everything up with your effects ).
  4. EDIT: okay, it now can ^^ I don't know what that genre is either (I never really know how to differentiate dance music), but that's stellar. I have a crush on those dreamy synths at 1:08-1:35, they send me away to an abstract scene with violet flashing lights that play around ;P. I love everything that you've done here, really! On the bad side there's overcompression (some instruments are eating one another pretty much at times, look at the bass at 1:07!), dry sounds (clap, synths, arpeggio, the looks-like-guitar thing), a break that could use of something else besides that pad. Still, this is a beautiful, pretty, shiny tune. I can tell you've had fun with this ;D
  5. Mwahwhawah!! What can I say, this is like a very cool danceable halloween phantomix Boy, I LOVE this. Those moving pads are creepy (in a good way XD), that organ break's very tasty, the piano adds an incredible momentum, everything works pretty well in the arrangement. I don't have a problem with crowdness or else about the mixing, but there's something about the sequencing I'm concerned about... The harmony almost doesn't change, and that makes the whole track feel a bit static. Organ break was a good try to change the texture, but I think it wasn't enough to add dynamics for the song. I think the constant use of pads throughout it could be a cause for this, but I'm also for some drum loop variations. Production-wise, I think some sounds are at times loud due to distortion. It could be me but, otherwise, go easy on those effects a bit. Also, take unneeded frequencies away for a cleaner sound And talk about a short mix! This thing deserves some expansion dude, please do it!
  6. Sure, go ahead sir Yea, I'd also throw some very salty pizzas and shoot olives at the judges if they didn't pass this one, even with at least a conditional on ton-tons. This is soooo sweet for a salty evaluation!
  7. I've got another suggestion: try putting that windy key, 2:36-3:01, as a substitute for 3:53-4:22. The way this key ends sounds perfect to me for that snare transition to the 3rd act, and the cool sounding synths that for now begin at 3:02 seem to suit great as a 2nd act opener, once the necessary adjustments get done. Both problems could be solved with only one move, so I say try it!
  8. Heyo! Welcomies! ^^ Nice arrangement ideas, this sounds very pleasant to listen to! But still, I feel like there's a large room for improvement here. Sometimes the chords from those synths at the beginning sound odd. It opens up with a fixed rhythm and well chosen notes, but then it sort of confuses me; I think you could write something clearer there. Even the flanged synth that comes afterwards doesn't totally bring me to light, but then there's the drums. Cool start for those! They don't work for the full song, though; you could definitely bring something else up besides that timid snare at like, 0:40 or 0:46, along with a nice hi-hat, turning up the frequencies and giving the song its full shine! Melody from piano could definitely vary. You don't need to stick it strictly to the source, it's in fact a better idea to add some salt. The way it is now, I can't feel it much, even coz there's nothing else besides the pad filling the soundscape at that section. When the shakers come, it's still not enough, specially as I hear that very same melody being played again. Spice it up, will ya? 1:41-1:48 seems okay to me, but dude what's that OOOOm at 1:49? Quite distracting to say the least, so I'd say take it off and try using a reverse crash or something else as a bridge to the new section that comes. YAY, sidechain! I'll echo what I've said in the third paragraph for 1:50-2:20, though Starting at 2:21, piano now sounds quite backwards comparing to sidechain and the new elements (now the guitar was a good idea. Its sound is not the best, but I think it works well) that come in. As I've just noticed it right now, I guess you could low a very lil' bit the volume from sidechain. On the good side, see how you were capable of adding some spice here, comparing to the first time this kinda key comes in ;D. ... uh, but quite an abrupt fade-out there at 2:55, u gotta fix that. 2:57-afterwards: same thing about drums and frequency and blah blah, and I'm not sure that guitar harmonizes well on that part. Might have something else to tell ya about it, but only after you fix the issues I'm pointing out. And at the very end, the distortion noise feels unneeded. Phew! Overall, I must say, this is very, very catchy... Really looking forward to this once you finish it, sir
  9. For real? o.o That's STUNNING, dude! If you could work on a less abrupt transition at 1:30 and 2:22, make the section after 1:30 sound cleaner (it probably will once you're good for the better rec) and a less unexpected ending (it could be even taken off), that would be perfect. Seriously, I'm wowed at this. You've got a sick talent, and I totally dig it!
  10. SO flooooating with this *___* feels so light and pure! I'm not liking those ton-tons that play throughout the first half of the track (1:07-09; 1:11-13; 1:21-23; 1:25-27; 1:34-36; 1:38-39; 1:47-49; 1:51-52). I mean, they work well as bridges for repeating a key or getting to new ones, but it sounds outta the flow when they're put on those places, specially with that same pattern repeating over and over. You could probably put them back a bit to see how it goes, or add some more dynamics/articulations? Also, cymbal and snare's a bit rigid; velocity variations would do them good! The transition to the second half's great for me! I'll quote Vig and TO, though; it's hard to make a song that flows nice and smoothly when you intend to divide it into three acts. The way you've done it, where you set a break in the middle that's more fast-paced than the rest (which have similar soundscapes set) and have new elements coming in, makes me in doubt on whether there's a solid direction or not. My opinion is that it feels like the second half's the part that'll end the track. As you can see, it also divides crits I love those synths. The wah-wah-windy thing that starts on the second half adds to it beautifully. During the ending, that sine wave's so timid "^^, but I have no problems with it. Piano's really pretty, well worked and slides like liquid; organ was a nice touch, too. Well, that's my coins
  11. Awww boy, this is SO cute! =^.^= Really digging that piano work. If you can manage to make its sequencing less mechanical with some subtle tempo variations, that would be awesome! Violin sounds good, but could vary more on the way it sounds. I'd also echo what I've said about the piano on the sequencing. Great job on the mixing/mastering! But... Is there a marimba or something similar playing at 0:37-0:55; 1:10-1:25? If so, it sounds too hidden. Bring it forward and, if necessary, EQ! So in love with that sweetness <3
  12. Untz untz untz untz \@/ Your arrangement ideas are freaking funky funtastic! This one's even better than your orchestral piece, as things were written more coherently here, but still there's things I'm concerned about on the production side. To begin with, heavy overcompression there. Before applying a limiter, I'd suggest you to work the volume of each instrument you've got and see if overall levels sound balanced enough. Beginning sounds odd somehow, and there's some muddiness in it. You could probably cut just a bit of reverb from your instruments, but I think it's happening due to the overcompression. Not digging the vocal work. Sounds like bad mic recording or something. Some EQ work, probably? Okay, I guess you should just work on the overcompression issue before I go further, just so everything sounds clearer to me ;D
  13. Before I get to the production issues, I must say, that's an insane arrangement that screams epicness! You've got some shiny talent here bro! Those instruments you've used throughout lack articulations, though: 1) Strings sound fake (as does that decay on the chords at the beginning; seems like you've tried to simulate it in a way that the last note is always the lowest). 2) French horns always sound the same (fade-in repetitiveness); pizzicato too. There's also problems with how french horn plays, and sometimes it's incoherent (1:48-2:18. A fade-in playing doesn't work like that at all!). Also, try to have some variations on the melody. 3) Oboe's fairly good but at times overexposed, in sections like 1:02-1:16. 4) Crashes and snare sound dull. Snare could use of some velocity variations, and some differences on the crash sound, along with a bit more decay, could be good. Sequencing was too rigid/mechanical. It's always good to have some sutile runaways from the fixed tempo on the instruments that play, so it sounds a bit more natural. Just think of how real players do live. Ending needs some more things going on besides those strings. After such a crowded performance, maybe you could add some bass/ensemble cellos on that part? Also, I wish this track was longer, but I guess that's up to you
  14. So many people deserve a big CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE In every flavor you want ^_____^
  15. Hey Sir Dracula! That's a nice mysterious mood you've got in there, I suppose I could expect something like this for your actual transylvanian status? I really like the glockenspiel writing on this, and that section at 1:36-1:58 is delicious, even more when the marimba spices it up! On the production side, it feels like your low-end's a bit hot. I hear some distortion and muddiness during many parts of the track, mainly on the crowded sections. Maybe you could shave some db from the low-end on the master track EQ, and probably take away some unneeded frequencies on the instruments for a cleaner sound? The running violins are a great touch, but they're too panned to the left and there's issue with velocity in some notes - sometimes they're TOO loud. I can recognize the source well in your track though, and I love the way you interpret it ;D I like it overall! Some fixes on those issues and I think you're fine, but I'd wait for the others to comment about something else I haven't mentioned ^^
  16. That's a very creative arrangement! I'm in love for what you've done with the source at those first 2 minutes, it sounds beautiful and melancholic. But, for a track that has nearly 2 minutes of calmness, the metal oriented part starting after that point sound out of context. The transition to it's also kind of awkward to me, as if the heavy sounding guitar randomly decided to invade the song. I'm not sure how you'd like to solve that issue, but quite frankly I'd take 1 whole minute from that long intro Agreed with the 3:00 thing. The background guitar's WAY back in the soundscape, leaving the drum kick too exposed, as the bridge to another loud section. I think I'd just bring that guitar forward. Crowded sections work fine for me, though. I think you've balanced things pretty well there! Sometimes I feel like that snare could have some articulations on the velocity aspect, but I think it's okay as-is. All in all, I don't think this is ready for the judges yet. But keep working on it, you're doing very well so far ^^
  17. Cool one. I like your work on the humanizing too, it's pretty good! Sequencing's nice too. Oddly those strings are panned to the very right. I'm mostly used to hear them on the left (when it's violins), and even so not that much panned. You could center it a bit to balance with the other group of strings. Instruments (mainly flute and strings) sound kinda dry, and I think you could add some reverb to them. Drums are okay on that aspect, but I think they could have some more work. Go go go
  18. Oh wow! For a first attempt at remixing, and going for an orchestral tune, this is just delicious \@/ Excellent dynamics, pretty good articulations, wonderful sequencing. My problems are only the volume (quite low) and the almost absent low-end on the most part of the track. Also, the part where the trumpets play sound a bit weak for my tastes, but it could be me. And it's been quite some time you've been waiting for comments, huh?
  19. YAY!! Man, I LOVE the direction you're going into from the source! It's pretty, groovely, fruity cool! Surely, there's a few problems. Starting from the intro , coz I don't really like that fade-in idea; and I think it takes a bit long until you get to the dancey-groovey-fruitey (XD) part. Also, it's a bit dull. You could work more on the synths, add something else up, and organize things for the chorus to take place smooth and nicely Not too fond of some synth choices, like that one from 0:54-56, 1:02-1:04, but I think you've done an okay job in the execution of those. I don't have a problem with that seems-like-offkey melody, actually it gives the song a nice charm (except that bridge note at 2:09-2:11, you may want to fix that up ) I also feel like you could use of some more dynamics to the track. I see you have some melody variations starting from 2:12, but I'm not sure that's enough. Maybe you could add a secondary melody (being careful enough not to mix it with the lead) in it, or have some more drum work? Also, do something to avoid the chorus parts to become too repetitive, and add some spice n' oregano to those breaks (they're very quiet). 3:34-onwards sounds WEIRD! I think that ending bugs me even more than the intro. How about doing something different from that? I mean, ! Otherwise, nice one! Really looking forward to it once it's finished! EDIT: I've just seen you can't edit it . BUT PLZ START IT AGAIN
  20. Taken the idea from here, ho ho As some of you guys know, my music style's mostly a mix between electronica and folk from many countries. I like to listen to almost anything that sounds somewhat catchy to me, no matter the genre or the band. If I want to relax, though, I just put on a song that doesn't really have that unique feel to it, but has a very pleasant and mellow soundscape. All that can also be applied to movies and books I like. Socially, I'm a guy that tends to get along well with 'crazy' people. I mean those whose personality's a highlight - too quiet, too loud, childish, etc. But I also very much enjoy those with a lighter talk, less attention-getting mood, and - may I say - I've even got intentions of dating someone like this. Problem is, I'm not a guy with much luck in the love subject, but I'm patient enough Personality-wise, I sometimes get lost in my nonsense, but that can be either a virtue or a defect depending on my capacity of administrating it - and I think I can do that well enough. In other words, I can be mysterious, but I don't bite. XD Anyway... That's just how I feel it, even though that's based on what some friends say. There may be people who see disparities between my musical taste and the way they see me. Or not. That's my opinion anyway You?
  21. Dude, what the pineapple is that screaming voice at the beginning? The track was coming out so nicely and then AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! x_o How about cutting down on the reverb and mess a bit with EQ? Also, there's some parts of the song that it sounds very muddy, as if you'd recorded it on a bad mic; and it's too delayed. I suggest you to turn down the echo feed a bit. Some keys appear out of nowhere and scare me sometimes, like the abrupt guitar intro at 0:40 and 1:01, the transitions at 1:49 and 2:02. You may want to fix the bridges for those keys somehow, just for a better flow on the sequencing. Weird ending, not sure if it's personal taste thingy... I'd wait for the mods to say something But y'know, I really like what you've done overall. Apart from being a tad overcompressed, the mixing between electronica with metal pretty much appeals to me, the soundscape really gives me that "demon conquers the universe" thing , there's a solid direction to it, and the guitar soloing's pretty sick! Keep it up sir \o/
  22. I'm giving a fast read to this, and I love the language. Sometimes I lol at the simpliticy of it when you say like "Humanization is something newbs often overlook. They've written their song, arranged it, so now it's done, right? Okay, so it's not mixed and mastered, but the writing is done now, right? Well... no." That's cool ;P. I suppose the waveform basics might be the boring part for newbs, but I think it's well explained. Just think it could be better to give audio examples.
  23. I think I know how you feel, I've been struggling for a new YES ;P By the way, I became a fan of yours since Pretension. Your mixes are so unique; they're very relaxing, clean and simple, yet so lively at the same time. They're violet and sound like flowers, even though that doesn't seem to make sense! About Final Progression, I'm just a bit nitpicky about that lead melody synth, but overall I wubwubwubwubwubwubwubwub
