  1. Okay, first of all, let me say I loved the whole thing. I have been waiting for this for a long time thanks to "Badazz", but I didn't know how good the rest of the album would be in comparison. By and large, hoo boy, is it. It's all AWESOME. But, most of all, my favorite piece has to be "The Sound of a Thousand Voices Screaming in Unison". Wow. Kidd Cabbage, congrats, you did the Mad God proud. That song is unrelentingly savage and chaotic and I LOVE it. And, like I said, the other tracks are GREAT as well. But, being a Final Fantasy fanboi, those last two just really stuck out for me. Can't wait for the next one, guys. Bravo.
  2. Not bad at all. If I *had* to find some complaint, I might say that I felt there was never a single climatic moment in the mix, but that's only because it was pretty equally awesome throughout. It does sound like something Cobra Commander would probably have playing while executing one of his bizarre, nefarious plots. COBRAAAAAAAAA!
  3. Yeah! I've had this mix since I caught it in WIP, and I've been waiting for the day that it would show up on the front page. Damn, it is GOOD. I didn't like it at first, mostly because of the style, but it soon had its hooks in my brain. I think I had this stuck in my head for a good few months straight. I can't recommend it enough, thanks for the mix, Raptor!
  4. I helped spread the word. Dammit, Youtube, this is just plain silly.
  5. Oh, come on, guys. Now I have diabetes. That's not even fair. (Nice, well done, if a little-too-upbeat track. I'd certainly recommend it to those who like light-hearted stuff. )
  6. Brandon, I'm so glad you took on Steiner's Theme. I'd high-five you if I could.
  7. Brandon, I'd vote for Steiner's theme. It's my favorite track of the whole game.
  8. The Humble "INDY" Bundle?! A bundle of Indiana Jones'? My own Harrison Ford?! SWEET. Humor aside, I got the 2nd bundle last year and was NOT disappointed. Ended up getting 10 games for 5-10 bucks. (At the time, all I had to spend, digital wise.) Thinking of getting this one, but I am DEFINITELY paying more than last time.
  9. So, okay, I downloaded this a while back because I kinda liked the beat. ESPECIALLY the piano bit. But I didn't REALLY like this mix that much, you know? It was sort of a "well, it's alright, but I'm not crazy about it" deal. Then it got stuck in my head. Now, the source was catchy as is. But I didn't have the source playing in my brain. I had THIS EXACT MIX stuck in my head. So I put it on my iPod. I started playing it more, and more, and more. I realized what was happening. Anti-Syne, you tricky little punk you. You made a viral song. First listen got me "infected". Subsequent listens helped it "spread". I now listen to this mix at least three times a week, and most often more. I feel like a filthy addict, darn it. XD On a more critical level? This mix is great. Greater than I thought when I first heard it. I just wish the piano breakdown bit lasted a little longer. But other than that, there is no way I could think of to improve on this. Great job.
  10. ... Far, far too short. I hope there's more pieces like this on the album, only longer. I wasn't going to check it out before, but after this I think I will, even though I never played the source. Still, good work, JW!
  11. Nobuo Uematsu is one of the defining figures of my childhood. His music communicates feelings and emotions so well that they're hard NOT to listen to. Meeting him would be the greatest moment of my life. Of course, I didn't just like his page (and the others involved) just to enter this contest. I'd have liked them regardless.
  12. So, I like the track. Very epic, very climatic. The one thing that always throws me off is the intro, it tricks me into thinking that I downloaded a slightly-off version of "Otherworld". Other than that, a solid track, but, even though I liked it and downloaded it, it just doesn't... "hook" me. I like listening to it, but it doesn't get stuck in my head. Oh well. Just thought that I'd throw in my two cents. Best of luck!
  13. Dude, are you kidding? "Eternity" was so damn cheesy that it was epic. I loved that song. Now, the voice-acting of some of the characters, on the other hand, made my ears bleed. Also ,the villain had the worst name for a villain I've ever encountered. "Nene"? Really? That was the name of one of my old cats. Now, on to this album, damn, I can't wait. I listen to "Badazz" all the time, I'm so glad I caught it back in its late stages of WIP. But the last two tracks of Volume one? They look EPIC. I can't WAIT to hear them. I'm so glad this album is still rolling along. I really hope it drops soon.
  14. The title describes it all, but it's not a complaint. I mean, personally, the "loudness" keeps me from enjoying it enough. When it comes to "loud", I like booming bass, not just non-stop rhythm guitars (wrong word for it, I know). But, really, even though I don't enjoy it, I'd have to say that I do appreciate it for what it is, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes very, very loud metal. Good work. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to peel my ears off the tracks of the sound-train. Dammit, that metaphor really went to hell, didn't it...
  15. It was alright. Had a sort of dreary, moody theme to it. Like something sad had occurred in the town, or the town was just rusting away...
  16. You probably didn't mean for it, but I'm hearing a lot of Spaghetti Western/Ennio Morricone influence in this track. It's good, so far, but I have two problems with it... 1. It feels short. I mean, that's not THAT bad, really, but I definitely wanted the piece to keep going towards the end. 2. The "Phantom of the Opera" influence is all too obvious. As such, it almost doesn't feel like it mixes with the rest of the piece, and it stands out a bit too much. Still, those are just my opinions, and I am by no means an expert. Keep working at it!
  17. You finished it?! WOW. This is the first song I've followed out of the WIP thread to release, then. This is still good, though, to tell the truth, it's nowhere near the quality of Poolside's other works. The garbled intro is a bit strange, and the male vocalist (Josh?) doesn't seem to go well with the song until the second half. Of course, Melinda's vocal work is amazing as always, and Poolside once again shows excellent taste in picking songs to remix. In the end, it's still a decent remix, but it just feels a bit... Unrefined compared to their other works. If I was introducing someone to them, I wouldn't necessarily use this one. But I'm definitely downloading it; ANY Poolside remix is worth that much, at least.
  18. It's been a long, long time since I've heard a remix of this quality. And so damn CATCHY, to boot. Please, give us more work like this in the future. You can have my first born child if you do.
  19. It's been up for about a month or two, actually, hasn't it? I'm a bit fuzzy on how "close" measures up, timewise. But I'm not nagging! I'm psyched to see a full album come out. I've been cruising these forums since the FFIV one was released and never saw the Donkey Kong one in development, so this is the first album I've followed on the forums to come out. It's a bit exciting, but I can still wait.
  20. Okay, man, since I love my dramatic villain themes, I really would like to download this. You said in an earlier post you'd send me a copy, so I'm going to drop my e-mail in this post for you to send one to, if you could. I really appreciate it. pool_c161@utpb.edu And best of luck with the judges, man. I hope this one makes it through, it's good.
  21. The 'ding ding ding ding ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong' bit goes from dramatic to irritating quickly. The background beat is fine, though. In short, in needs more variation.
  22. Hehehehe... Oh, this is barely taking itself seriously, it's so metal. I like it, don't get me wrong. But I did NOT expect the lyrics. Those hit me from out of left field. Definitely work on the ending, though. I did not like how it just snapped off without warning. Other than that, it's great despite being cheesy enough to spread over tortilla chips for nachos.
