The entire ending to that game made me sad. Such good minimalistic storytelling though. But yes! I just sat there and stared at my screen, and then retried to make sure he made it across like three times. i always thought his name was agro, but i could be wrong. that game has such strangely named characters. i bet the last guardian will have a few tear jerker moments whenever they finally get around to releasing it. the big old bird kitty dragon whatever the hell it is. The end of crisis core made me tear up a little when zack gave cloud the buster sword.

im doing well enough it seems like with my RWTS remix that i have time left to work on this one! got a good chunk done this round seems like its gonna be good! -
Definitely. i know how to use it pretty well , or well enough that im not limited by anything. i will say that being stuck using garageband for a while has helped me improve as a musician though. do you happen to know of a way to convert them ?

Final Fantasy VII: The Live Action Series
Esperado replied to FFVII_TheSeries's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
what all are you guys looking for? just music or do you need other roles ? -
i officially decided that i WILL be remixing the great mighty poo. probably not for here, because last i checked you cant use samples of the source tune, and i have no idea how you would go about that song otherwise, short of singing it myself. Id rather not subject you all to my singing , haha. HOWEVER. i decided this because first off, i thought it would be ridiculously funny if someone made dubstep using lewd poopy/farting sounds and name it fartstep ( apparently fartstep is a thing, but not what youd think). then i thought, why not make great might poo a dubstep track, or even.... a FARTSTEP track! it all comes together so well in my head!. it might be a while, but rest assured that sooner or later i will make one and post it somewhere for all to enjoy the ridiculousness.

its mostly for using midi for remixes , its hard to remix a song when either the tempo syncs horribly, or all the data is forced to one track. does anyone know of a midi 1 converter? i have ableton live 8, im not sure if i have the suite or not . EDIT: I pretty much solved the tempo issue. turns out if you drop a midi clip in the arrangement (NOT session) view, it imports the tempo data. it does set the tempo to some wacky number , so I have to guess when it comes to setting the songs bpm, but that's workable.

my brother raved about that game ALL the time, so i finally decided to try it and i kindof like it. its a bit too complex sometimes for me though and i just tried that frog fractions game. i can see what you all mean! this game is so strange! the underwater part reminds me of aquaria

The Music Software Deals thread
Esperado replied to big giant circles's topic in Music Composition & Production
theres an midi controller that looks like an MPC for hippies. its all colorful and nice, and it comes with the maschine sound library. there is imaschine too, but thats not really much more than a toy. with some ingenuity you could use it an an Iproduction if you wanted but not for anything serious id say. i use it to remix my coworkers talking in the breakroom. Anywho, has anybody checked out any of the free stuff from meldaproductions ? http://www.meldaproduction.com/plugins/product.php?id=MFreeEffectsBundle. it looks like a good deal for a newbie who wants to just knock out a good number of the basic effects. it also has some neat ones like mvibrato. The only thing is that i think you have to download all of them and you cant cherry pick which effects you wanna download. -
im good in the way of vst's. im not going to be getting komplete or omnisphere until i get a desktop computer with a larger hard drive that i can devote to JUST music, since i use my macbook for everything right now ( maybe not the best idea ) but thats another story. good thing namm is just around the corner. though, i run the risk if they do make logic x, that logic 9 wont be on sale anymore and ill be stuck paying whatever inflated price they have for the new version, if i decided to. thanks for the advice though everyone! for now ill just wait until namm to see what things come out and what old outdate products go on sale before i decide.

I agree! this is my second compo and they kindof feel like a trial by fire . you dont have time to dilly dally around and make the "perfect" mix , just something that is the best you can do in the time limit. it seems to help you detach from the song so you arent as afraid to experiment and perfect later. -

do your best, have fun and see what happens! there are no losers , sorta. -
i say its plenty pretty! its nice and clean looking. no frills or cords flying everywhere. the screens are a bit old looking, but as long as they work right? i enjoy seeing how people set up their studios, it seems like people always figure out how to set up something nice, regardless of the space or budgets they have.

oh, so you could kindof use it as a cool celebratory thing once you finally get posted. i wanted to do that with my signature, but i guess ill make a signature first, and then do a custom avatar later

D/A ? i mentioned it in this thread here http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=42351 i guess i never got back to the thread on what i ended up doing. which was that i have been completely unable to find a working copy of dent du midi, and the only midi converter software i found, ended up being a bunko demoware thing that only converted half the file.

I should've mentioned what gear i have. spaced that part. I do have a pair of modded Sony mdr v6 ( made the cord removable) headphones. I also have some crappy idock speaker things that my roomies gave me. and as far as other gear I have enough free vsts that I get by pretty well unless I need a specific sound (like bagpipes) and more midi gear than I actually use. I think ill go with logic, I did try reaper at one point but I didn't really like it. I had always heard I shouldn't mix on headphones so I had kindof written then off. as far as decent ones do you guys have any suggestions there ? my v6s are probably going to die sometime soonish given that they're 2 years old. thanks for all the help !

so, even though this game was discontinued, does the music you guys made count as "original" enough to be remixed for this site? i doubt i would, but its an interesting thought.

boyinaband's youtube channel made two really interesting points about that using cats as examples. one point was saying that comparing two musical styles saying one was more "musically expressive" than the other was like comparing a cat to a dog. Both can be fun and loving pets, but both animals act differently than the other, and oftentimes, different than other animals in that same breed. The other point was saying that comparing musical styles and saying one isnt " real music" was like looking at two cats, one wearing a tophat, and saying that the cat with the tophat on wasn't a real cat because it had a hat on. really clear and playful way to look at it if you ask me, makes arguing over genres seem silly.

from the perspective of more experienced producers and remixers, which would be more important to a newbie such as myself? studio monitors or a slightly better DAW? I have 200-250 and currently im using a mix of ableton and garageband, but i have alot of issues importing midi to ableton that ive been unable to resolve and garageband is somewhat limiting (i find, mostly in the automation department). Logic pro is only 200 which is a steal as far as daws go .
