OCR02101 - Donkey Kong Country 2 "Party's Over Here"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Soooo coool. I was going to say something about playing this at my wedding if it ever happens. Turns out you completely beat me to the punch. -
OCR02003 - Donkey Kong Country 2 "A New Place"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I love the harmony and the voices in this remix. I wish the composer had done a bit with the male and female voices singing at the same time. Other than that I think this song is awesome. -
I would also like to see someone do a good casino night remix

OCR01180 - Commander Keen IV "man sieht sich galaxie"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Agreed with the people who commented before. Fun, unique, sweet rendition. I didn't know the backstory until I read it just now. It makes it even more fun to listen to this song. We definately need more Commander Keen remixes. -
OCR00538 - Lemmings (DOS) "Lounge Lemmings"
Skinner3D replied to orkybash's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Every once in awhile I get the urge to hack into a public PA system and load it with video game music instead of whatever it is that they are playing. I haven't yet actually done this trick, nor do I know how, but still I would definately start off with this song, and the slowly increase the pace, until the shoppers or whatever finally noticed Anyway, on to the remix itself. Other people have mentioned the off beat vibes and the skips in the beat. Honestly I think it works really well. It keeps it from being a song that your brain just tunes out. I like it a lot and its part of my growing collection of relatively slow songs from this site. -
I was going to post a similar thread to this, but I figured I would search first. Ya Audiosurf is awesome and doing OCR songs on it is a ton of fun. I know that either Dream Pipe or Dr. R's Blobby Blob Disco is a good ride. I can't remember which one it is though. I go by ÙŠÄ·iNacho Boy.

OCR01016 - Sonic & Knuckles "Deep Damp Sandcastle"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The tempo changes in this song are the major focal point. As a couple of other people have mentioned I think it was done on purpose. The actual game level was slightly frustrating because of lights, and doors that only stayed on/open for a limited amount of time. This remix reflects that and the underground feel really well. -
OCR01588 - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 "Breaking the Ice"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I like the original source material of this song, so almost any song made from it I like as well. This one is really fun and upbeat, but it doesn't lose that lonely feel that the source has. I like how the pace slows down half way through the song, and then I am agreed with those else who have posted. That solo is reallly cool. -
OCR00405 - Super Mario 64 "Sunken Suite"
Skinner3D replied to Ginnsu's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This song is amazing. It builds well and flows well and is just beautiful. I like how well it keeps with the source material both in note and in essence. For those of you who know what Audiosurf is, this is one of those tracks that is just plain fun to ride. -
OCR01773 - Banjo-Kazooie "Malevolent Mansion"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
A lovely fast speed rendition of the Mad Monster Mansion track I can't help but think that this is probably how Mozhand would have played this song if he hadn't been so busy trying to kill you. -
OCR01941 - Banjo-Kazooie "Wallachian Prince"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I can't actually put my finger on why I like this song. It's really fun to listen to, but other than that I don't know how to describe it. Worth downloading? Definately especially if you played the game. -
OCR02065 - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 "Ice Cold Retro"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This is a funky song and the fact that the source material is mellow and open, makes for an interesting mix The chords or note groups or whatever you call them that start the song and go throughout are a little bit discordant. Maybe that is just the genre, I don't think I have listened to this genre before. Anyway I do like it. -
OCR01346 - Sonic the Hedgehog "Live at the Springyard"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Very well put together Not really my style of music to listen to, but its totally worth downloading for those who want a chance of pace. -
OCR01669 - Myst "Unraveling the Mystery"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I played this game for a little while, but got frustrated with the click-to-advance movement system, so I never beat it. Listening to this song makes me want to go back and play through the games. Very well done. -
OCR01507 - Metroid Prime 2 "Torvus Clockwork"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Totally agreed with everything Lemming 1545 said. I have the original Torvus Bog song on my computer, and I love to just listen to it. This remix just takes that song and amplifies everything that I liked about the music. -
OCR00952 - Super Mario 64 "Pearl Song"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
If there was such a thing as an underwater lazy river, this would be the music. It's so peaceful. I have been listening to game/midi music for years and my mom really doesn't like it. This remix actually brought about the for first time ever, my mom coming in and commenting on how beautiful the song was. (She had done it for other songs, but never game music) She said that she recognized the source music, and didn't realize how good those songs were until she heard one redone with real sounding instruments. So, props to Wingless. -
OCR01488 - Star Fox 64 "V to the X Power"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This brings back memories of sitting in front of the N64 for hours, trying to beat this game. Good compostion. -
OCR01154 - Linus Spacehead "Space Drifter"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I played this song three times in a row when I first heard it. I don't remember the original score from this game (its been a long time), so I don't know how well this holds to the original. Regardless this song is amazing and it feels like the start of a grand adventure. -
OCR01998 - Sonic the Hedgehog 2 "Atmosphere"
Skinner3D replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Light, bouncy, fun remix of an epic song. I wouldn't call it 'cute', but I wouldn't call it trance either. -
OCR00225 - Arkanoid "Navel Lint Dub"
Skinner3D replied to m68030's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
lovely bit of work. I can't actually listen to this and work on my computer at the same time. The bass is so floor maulingly deep that I can't concentrate on the task at hand. -
OCR00008 - Arkanoid "1999 (2000 Mix)"
Skinner3D replied to Joe Redifer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I listened to the original and then listend to this song. I really like how this one feels more 'full'. It carries over the tone and feeling of the original nicely. -
Yes, , I am going to be absolutely stereotypical and make my first real post on this forum a request post. I would like to hear someone attempt to do a remix of any of the songs from the game Ascendany. I don't have any ideas as to what genre they would sound good in. Here is a youtube link to one of themes, the rest of them are there as well. I have all of the music files in Mp3 format if anybody would like them. Thanks in advance to anybody who attempts this.
