Troyificus got a reaction from brink-of-time in Paths Less Travelled Volume 2: Secret of Evermore
So I guess it's time for an update, huh?
The majority of people have gotten back to me regarding my statement and the majority of those people have decided to stay on, so the project will continue as is. I won't be actively recruiting anyone else, but will accept anyone who wishes to join. As such this album will likely be a single 'disc' affair rather than a double, but at this point I'm just looking to get it finished and out the door, so to speak.
A few people asked that I make it abundantly, 100% clear that anyone who is participating in this project does not support or condone the actions of Jeremy Soule, alleged or otherwise, and that the content is a celebration of the Secret of Evermore soundtrack as an art-form and nothing else.
In happier news, we've got our first finished track! @about:blank has finished his Fire Eyes remix which has now been passed over to @Chimpazilla for mastering. Massive thanks for getting that finished so quickly, Chris
So, in closing, things are little bit sombre here at PLT HQ (which is just me now...) but we're going to soldier on regardless. Thank you to everyone who has agreed to stay on, and thank you to everyone who is taking the time to read this message.
*EDIT* Well, I should probably read all my messages before making a forum post because we do in fact have TWO finished tracks! @Manji has finished his Elephant Graveyard remix as well! Big thank you to you as well, Chris (two Chris', what are the odds?!).

    STATEMENT
It has recently been brought to our attention that certain accusations have been made against Jeremy Soule, the composer for Secret of Evermore. The accusations came to light long before we decided to tackle Secret or Evermore, however for whatever reason neither Dai nor myself were aware of it at the time.
Since we were made aware of this information there's been a lot conversation between Dai and myself, with some input also being sought from @djpretzel. djp pointed me towards his statement attached to THIS POST he made back in April and has confirmed that OCR will be happy to release and promote the album.
My outlook on the situation is similar to that expressed in the post linked above. I do not condone the actions of anyone seeking to abuse another in any setting. That should go without saying, but sadly in this day and age it probably should be spelled out. In the case of this album I am celebrating the music of the game, not necessarily the composer himself. Separating the art from the artist is always a dicey subject to tackle, but I am personally OK with carrying on with the project.
Unfortunately, PLT creator and my assistant-director for this album @Drawn by Dai has decided to step down from the project in light of this information. He asked that I include the following statement in this post:
I completely understand and respect his decision in this and it leads me to my next point of action. It's entirely possible that there other people now involved with this project who are also unaware of the controversy regarding the games composer. As such I will be contacting everyone individually asking them if they wish to continue on the album. If anyone wishes to leave them I will completely understand.

Certainly a sad revelation that puts fans in an uncomfortable position. I agree that music is not the man; I have many of his soundtracks and can listen to them and enjoy the music on its own merits.
However, to be involved in any associated production, which as mentioned above- invariably honors the artist and thus the man, facilitating the very position of fame and power that he exploited against women, is just not an endeavor I wish to lend my own work towards. There's a difference between a dude just havin' bad game, and being an actual predator and misogynistic creep, which unfortunately seems to be the case here.
So yeah, as much as I dig Evermore, I'm afraid I must bow out of this one. I wish everyone the best though, I'm sure it will be a cool album.

I knew about the accusations against Soule for a long time, well before I came into the project. I'm in the same mindset as djpretzel. I enjoy the music, but not the person.
I'm still on board for this project.

Well, if the Cancel Culture mob comes after me for continuing on with the project, so be it; I'll brace it with a "come at me bruh" pose.  Besides I don't really have Social Media anymore...  So I'm gonna continue on.
Also, I'm gonna save the speculation for the private chats and withhold my thoughts publicly.  I spew enough bullshit here as it is.

Just chiming in - no matter what Soule did, this game's soundtrack is a part of many folks' childhoods, and nothing changes that. However, deciding to participate in this project is one of those topics where, personally, I don't think there's a right or wrong answer. I've explained my personal reasoning, and how I conceive of art in the abstract, but I'm not offended if anyone finds it unpersuasive/disagrees. Key thing is that no one gets judged, either way, for their decision on this, or attempts to equate others' decisions to participate with a tacit endorsement of the behavior in question.

Hot off his solo debut on the Golden Sun album, @guitarSVD has claimed the Storekeepers source and officially joined the project!
I apologise for the lack of updates, I have no other excuse other than I'm rubbish at providing updates.
However I'm happy to say that album is moving along nicely. We've got 15 claimed tracks now, which will be more than enough for a single disc release if we don't manage to entice anyone else onboard.
I'm feeling the loss of the signatures quite keenly at the moment, as they were a great method of non-direct advertisement for the project. A few quick forum posts in different sections of the site and you've suddenly brought the album to the attention of people who otherwise wouldn't be aware of it. Ah well, got to move with the times I guess.
A huge thank you to everyone who's gotten involved with the project so far, you guys rock! Without wanting to sound too cringeworthy; if you could perhaps mention this project to any remixer friends you might have to try and get those sources claimed I'd greatly appreciate it.
    Stay safe, everyone!

What's that I hear? Is that... distant jingle bells? Did someone say " ho ho ho" just now? That can't be right. It's only July.
Oh, but it is right. It's that time again. Time to see who's interested in taking part in the annual tradition of making Christmasy music for people. Christmas in July has become a thing these days, and so it's during that seasonal warm up period that we kick this thing off, in hopes of getting folks to provide music for the real season when it comes about in five-plus months.

SO! This project is open to any and all OCR members, regardless of whether you're a posted remixer or not. Want some details? Have some details...
    When's The Project Deadline?- December 20th, 2020 at 11:59 P.M. EST.
This is now a REALLY hard, non-negotiable deadline, since it's very close to Christmas. We've had lots of last-minute entries and updates over the years and, to be perfectly honest, it shouldn't be that way. With months of time, having to hold off as long as possible for people made things pretty hectic for myself and Dyne in the past. Treating this project like a college paper that doesn't get worked on until the last minute got annoying rather quickly when it kept adding up to lots of hurrying year after year, with last second updates to artwork and retagging/reuploading things. As such, you have until one minute before midnight EST on December 20th to get me the final WAV or MP3 of your song. After that, you're shit outta luck until next year. I need time to do everything, including possibly making a little website to host this project if Dyne isn't online for one reason or another. So this deadline's set in stone... PERIOD.
What Information Does The Coop Need?- When you send me your final versions, I'll need what name you want to use (real or remixer handle) and the name of your remix. Please, come up with something when you send me links to the file, rather than just giving me a file called "ff6-owa-v3f.mp3" and nothing else. You don't have to tell me what song you're remixing, but I do need a name. Plus, if you have a website you'd like to pimp, supply that as well and I can add it to the MP3 tags.
What Can Be Remixed?- Any song, really. Traditional Christmas carols, video game music, published music by a signed artist, music from TV/cartoons/anime... whatever gets your heart racing and into that Christmas spirit. This isn't an official OCR album, so you can draw from more sources than just VGM. Plus, you can take a non-Christmas tune, like the Main Theme from Space Harrier, Stage 6 Mission 2 from Metal Head, or I Defend STM from Truxton II, and turn it into a Christmasy one. So know that it's not limited only to songs that are Christmas-like to begin with. All that said, do keep in mind that if you want to submit your song to OCR later, you'll need to keep this site's guidelines in the back of your mind. But for this album, you can take it in just about any direction you want and get as crazy as you'd like (but please, no "Silver Bells" done in farts or something).
How Long Can My Song Be?- As long as you want it to be. There are no restrictions on this, so whether it's 1:30, or 9:51 with a five minute guitar solo ala Metallica, it's all good. But again, if you want to submit your song to OCR later, keep their guidelines in mind.
What Genres Can I Remix In?- Again, the door's wide open here. Rap, Metal, Pop, Piano-solo, Orchestral, Jazz, 8/16-bit, Barber Shop Quartet, A capella, Death Polka... it's up to you where you want to take it.
What Format Should I Submit My Song In?- WAV or an MP3 of at least 192KB/s quality. I'll be tagging the MP3s and making MP3s from any submitted wavs, so you don't have to worry about that. But, if you'd like your website to be in the MP3 comments section, be sure to give it to me when you submit your song.
How About A Little Music To Get Us In The Mood?- To help everyone along, here's a YouTube list of Christmasy tunes made by Ocre a number of years ago...
    https://ocremix.org/community/topic/32727-an-overclocked-christmas-~-now-recruiting/?tab=comments#comment-676914
What's The Website's Address Again?- It's got a new home at... http://williammichael.info/aocc/ This album will still be downloaded there as well, as Dyne will continue to host the albums on his site.
How Do We Contact This The Coop Person?- If you've got questions, comments, concerns, want feedback, or your track is done and ready to be sent to me, you can PM me here on OCR, or send me an E-mail at thecoopscorner@gmail.com. Just be sure you remember to include a link to your remix.

So yeah, there you go. You've got over five months to get something done for the lovely people of OverClocked Remix and the billions of listeners around the world who've become followers of our project.
Good luck, have fun and make everyone some Nice Work™!

I chose the source for that PRC round! I dearly love Psycho Pinball (though I had it on the Mega-Drive rather than DOS) and wanted to shine a light on the awesome soundtrack for others to hear. If I recall it even prompted Eino to play the game while he was crafting his remix, which pleased me greatly. I've considered it for a Paths Less Travelled volume at some point, though due to there only being about 6 tracks on the soundtrack it would be more of an EP than an album.
As for the track itself; I totally dig it. The source tune is your run-of-the-mill Big Top circus tune, and Eino's upbeat EDM take on it really gives it a new lease of life while retaining the circus feel of the original. Thanks for bringing some representation to this piece of my childhood, buddy!
