  1. http://soundcloud.com/eilios/valiant So, yeah, I made this song as a background loop for whatever needs background loops, left it sitting in my projects folder, rediscovered it, then did some mastering on it and looped it and uploaded it on soundtrack. It's pretty calm, I think. Comment as you will!
  2. Well, "decent" and "free" don't mix very nicely, but if you use FL Studio there's a Newtone/Pitcher "pay what you want" deal for at least 12 dollars which works pretty well as far as I'm concerned.
  3. I'll do a bit more stuff with filters and such, and yeah, I do agree, the main theme is a bit overplayed. I'll fix that in the newer version. EDIT: Newer version! http://tindeck.com/listen/zkvl
  4. Hello there! Please click me for V1! <-- remix Much in the vein of my latest remix, this has a more relaxing start. Well, okay then. This is a remix of Pokemon Silver's Lucky Channel song(no relation to Lucky Star whatsoever) which can be found in the following URL: <-- OriginalSo yeah, criticism would be much appreciated.
  5. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Google translator for Japanese is the single biggest mistake you could ever make. Japanese is an INCREDIBLY nuanced language, and mechanical translators will result in VERY sloppy, almost unreadable, and just generally horrible Japanese.
  6. 1. MIDI doesn't have any latent sound on it's own. It's just note data, which is then assigned an instrument to actually play sounds. 2. When you add an instrument to a MIDI file, it does not change the MIDI file, only the FL Studio project you've uploaded the MIDI file too. You can't assign a specific sound to a MIDI file, as I've said before. 3. If you have the demo version, you can't open saves, therefore you can't assign permanent instruments to MIDI tracks, because you can only get the same MIDI file back when you re-open it. You can either leave FL Studio open for an insanely long amount of time, or upgrade. Anyways, erine's comments are pretty much the bulk of mine as well. It's not finished yet, so I'll wait for it to be finished to give a more in-depth commentary. Keep working on it, though.
  7. It sounds like air is moving through something fast, sorta like in pneumatic systems. What's that called?
  8. Why was I not surprised this was in Japan, and more specifically, Akihabara? That was rhetorical - we all know why. It does seem like a kinda good concept though, challenging gamers to not miss the bowl by putting it in the form of a game.
  9. It's cool and all that Square Enix is doing sequels, but sequels to FF13? Really? I guess if they make the sequel fix everything wrong with the original, that would be okay, but...
  10. Fundamentally, all you need to do is have a script that checks OCR for the latest remix, and then have a randomizer program that checks to see if the random number is higher then that of the latest remix, and if so, randomizes again. So yes, it is possible. But I don't know what the Russian Roulette does, nor do I use iGoogle, so it'd be better to get someone who has more in depth experience.
  11. Jack, he's not saying "you'll never change anything, so don't try", he's saying that NOBODY ELSE CARES.
  12. QFT. Unless you're using a phenomenally underdeveloped DAW, it really shouldn't matter what software you use for recording. Find something you like to use, and use that.
  13. Option 1(mentioned): Sell physical copies. Option 2(mentioned): Sell out to itunes. Option 3(I'm mentioning this one): http://bandcamp.com/ Not all labels are evil.
  14. Happy birthday to you all! I hope you all have fun and don't drink so much that you end up in a garbage dumpster somewhere in Venice(try to keep it a little behind that level!).
  15. You could just use plugins in whatever DAW you use(or, alternatively, use Cantabile if you don't have a DAW and just want to do live performances, and apply effects from there) to do what amps do by themselves. I'm sure there are plenty of amp plugins on KVR audio and other related sites.
  16. Could you try posting the guitar model? It would probably make it a lot easier to figure out(some guitars are connected differently). EDIT: Or do Sixto's thing, honestly, it's better.
  17. On a less ridiculously well thought out argument level, I really like this series. Good work!
  18. My forum name means "wind" in a made up language. (Then again, aren't all languages made up?). I'm probably going to change it to something else later when I get better.
  19. Basically, this: Probably the defining feature of 9.8 to me. I'm definitely psyched for this - imagine the possibilities! Don't really know what to use it for at the moment, but, hey, sooner or later I'll find a use for it.
  20. Yeah, I've heard only good things about it from my more piano-player-y friends. I know they'd vouch for it, if you're a semi-professional piano player with chops, fully weighted 88 keys is definitely the way to go.
  21. Actually, this one was inspired a lot by Deadmau5's prog house epic "Strobe". If you've heard it, the opening is pretty calm, but once the beat drops it changes gear completely. So making it less of "ambient electronica" in the second half is intentional. The opening is supposed to be quiet and laid back, though. Anyways, in comment to this, and other comments by other OCR users on IRC, I've made a newer version, which is a bit quieter, has some clipping removed(dunno what happened there), and some of the synths subtly tweaked to make them more interesting. Also, compression on the drums. http://tindeck.com/listen/qozd
