  1. good but could you make another version with a reverse cymbal about 15 seconds in, i was waiting for it and it didn't come in till later...just a personal preference really.
  2. Yes the chords may be right but Em7 sounds slightly off. could be due to the instrument quality itself. maybe try shifting one or two of the chord's notes an octave? or adjusting the fine pitch of one the notes slightly. It's very slight to me, so I can't really tell you anything else.
  3. i like film music but its so much more tedious than videogame music, you have to synch everything to a 2 hour film etc hope they dont change the script use live orchestra most of the time with videogame music you generally just make loops
  4. well i dont mean the whole thing has to be 6 db, but that should be the max vol of your track, otherwise you will run into probs later (although more quiet and peaceful tracks dont have to get up to the 6db limit.)
  5. heard 3 of them, they all sounded good, water garden sounded zelda-y and sonic sounded sonic-y. only have one slight complaint is the second chord of water garden sounded slightly off to me, but that's about it. will review the rest when i get more energy.
  6. doesn't sound bad, it's just missing transistions. on a side note, do you know where i can find vocals of girls singing for trance, dance or hip hop style music? i think everyone knows what girls i am talking about lol. i know where to get samples but they aren't that good or just homemade.
  7. i thought 6db was standard...could be wrong though.
  8. yep i guess sometimes i feel very dark and my music kind of mirrors that, another reason it's difficult for me to make uplifting music in fl studio is because there's no way to make the background color of the grid brighter, and sitting in front of a comp for hours is pretty dark in and of itself. Some of my more upbeat songs I actually get up and dance to, sometimes I feel like an angel being uplifted into another world. but after ive heard the songs 1000 times i dont even know what emotions are which anymore. another thing is videogames have story and video components to almost ensure that everyone will be on the same "page" in terms of emotion, at least for the first few playthroughs. i think that is the toughest part, knowing what people will feel from your music even after you have listened to it 1000's of times. also you look pretty cute in those short shorts lol j/k (pinnacle college looks great but it is 5000 miles away lol)
  9. interesting, i saw that episode a couple of weeks ago
  10. smooth n groovy. wish it was louder and more bass though. although the groove was very good the saxophone part was kind of wacky and although i liked the texture of the glockenthing the notes themselves were wacky. also, imo the saxophone should have started at 1:30.
  11. you don't have to be so rude. if you took the time to read my post i wasn't talking about just some run of the mill vg music class.
  12. Interesting, a lot of the hyper commercials are pretty loud, although I haven't seen them very recently. Although, I have to say the commercials I hate the most are the irritatingly "serene" ones where they play the same piano keys in the background, possibly with a light guitar, with some guy talking about a car that noone cares about, insurance, medication, or vacation, or something like that, with really boring "sleek and modern" architecture. Really boring, feels like being trapped inside of a hospital.
  13. Are there any non-college programs where they teach you video-game music at a low cost? My college just has a basic piano class that's it. Basically do they teach more than how to make musically correct music, but emotions as well? Not just emotions, but distinct emotions, like the color green, or walking through a cove, emotions like nostalgia and emotions that typically aren't run of the mill emotions. Also, if you don't like this thread, please don't ban me, just delete the thread (preferably not though.)
  14. does anyone hate the music they play in commercials? just boring piano notes played over and over it's like they reuse the same song for every commercial...lol.
  15. well yeah, i was taking a shot in the dark, i couldn't remember if i heard it from an anime or not, lol.
  16. well it depends on the song for me. a lot of music has to have a music video behind it to be entertaining, for example some modern music is boring without a video. some instrumentals need an active story too. But, there are some instrumentals where i can just lay back and listen. i guess some songs tell a story, and others rely on a story to tell the song.
  17. its ok. i hated it at first but now i like it.
  18. well not my song, it was supposed to sound like a futuristic mech game. admittedly it does sound like crap...by anime do you mean more of an emotional type of music? that's not really western either, but it's not exactly dissonant. i wish I could show you a better example of japanese dissonance so you could know what im talking about, but i forgot the name of the game.
  19. Yes, admittedly, it does sound terrible and I didn't really know what I was doing, but it was supposed to sound like those japanese futuristic mech games that overuse orchestra hits, or stuff that you would hear in an anime.
  20. wait i am confused on one point though, you like the phendrana remix version better? interesting, well i guess that's up to you!
  21. i've never tried making a synth but maybe if you find out what the carbon2 synth is you can copy off of that.
  22. Example of a non sequenced song: Example of a sequenced song: Actually, the first is sequenced, but hidden. And I do like the second song, it's just an example. also, a lot of film music is completely freeflow, it also "mickey mouses" with the video in the foreground.
