  1. Can you get the exact note of the pitch that way?
  2. Yeah when I clicked the link a few days ago it didn't work, also that site has watermarks which is another reason.
  3. version1 http://soundcloud.com/erineclipse/thehill version 2 http://soundcloud.com/erineclipse/funkrock version3 http://soundcloud.com/erineclipse/thehill-ambient
  4. I hope it has slide functionality for Vsts. I know it may be infeasible from a programmer's standpoint, but it's really limiting to not have that ability for vsts.
  5. The lighter version http://soundcloud.com/erineclipse/act-1-version-1-1 The darker version - http://soundcloud.com/erineclipse/act-1-version-2-dark The links should definitely work this time.
  6. Good, but I detect some reverb and sweep effects (cheating) (unless that is fizz)
  7. Sorry about that, I was really tired. Here is the latest version (Act 2.) http://soundcloud.com/erineclipse/lime-hill-zone-act-2/s-nY6Bx
  8. If Vst arps are just pitch shifted, how come the arps don't lose tempo? Also, the backing synth has to be stretched out, or the duration would be off.
  9. Let me know if I should make it longer. I stayed up until 4 AM making this, sorry about that. Updated Version (Act 2): http://soundcloud.com/erineclipse/lime-hill-zone-act-2/s-nY6Bx
  10. Sounds like I've heard this before somehow, anyway good.
  11. They didn't invent the microchips either, nor did they solder the PC together. For shame... lol I don't mind using synth presets, since I've never tried making one before. The way I look at it is this...the composers of ancient times didn't really invent the instruments, and they set the standard, so I guess technically we don't have to invent the instruments either. Certain samples I understand, like the Roosevelt one (since it was a famous speech), and the Daft Punk one (there's nothing wrong with using a sample you made yourself.) It's just I wouldn't feel like the work was really mine if it was made out of mostly loops...I have nothing against listening to music like that, some of it is really great (for example, I like the sound of B.I.G Hypnotize and there are sample's from 2 different songs in it.) But personally it would just feel like I cheated myself. Oh and by samples, yes, I mean loops. Those are the only kind of samples I'd consider using, using samples in place of a vst just doesn't work for me, the oscillations get messed up because it's not really generated, just pitched shifted.
  12. Please tell me if I should make another version (for example, tell me if you don't like the pitch change at 1:19, or the slowdown at 1:40.) Also, please let me know if the part after 0:27 has any wrong high notes. http://soundcloud.com/erineclipse/shuttle-2-1/s-kK8WA Please tell me if I should rearrange anything, add anything, or add any special fx as well.
  13. Oh, yeah I posted the wrong one. Your not missing anything though, the orchestrated version was never finished and I personally think it was horrible. You can hear the latest version though: http://soundcloud.com/erineclipse/supersonic3-1/s-JW1mZ
  14. incredibly repetitive, not bad sound, you just need to throw in a break or melody or something after a few repeats.
  15. The whole song was great, except the ending. It didn't really have an ending...
  16. Hi, I have nothing against people who choose to use samples. Personally though, I am afraid to use them, because it just doesn't feel like it's my track. I even have problems using arps and sequences...I rarely use them, and usually only for ambience. What are your thoughts on samples, and personal creativity? I know it's almost impossible to get R.L. quality audio without using them.
  17. lol! goron's aren't pokemon though, so technically that doesn't make any sense =P

  18. Theres a button that looks like this: [>]
  19. I couldn't decide which version is better. Also I was wondering if I should replace any instruments, rearrange or add anything, and stuff. regular version http://soundcloud.com/erineclipse/supersonic-4/s-tnQlJ orchestrated (layered) version http://soundcloud.com/erineclipse/supersonicx#
  20. A good rule of thumb is to base your eq on what frequency range the instrument is typically meant for. A chart like this might help you, but generally the best way is to do it by ear. especially when using unusual sounding instruments. You typically want to boost it high enough right before it starts to clip. It's also important to remove frequencies that are barely audible, in order to allow room for other instruments which use that range of frequencies. I use Fruity parametric EQ 2, which is convenient because it shows what frequencies are emphasized by the instrument and it shows in Hz the position of each knob. Here is another guide for drum compression. http://howrealisdat.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2009-04-01T00%3A00%3A00-07%3A00&updated-max=2009-05-01T00%3A00%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=6 I use soundfont drums, so one setting for all my drums works fine for me (I use FL compressor "Drums" preset.) You problably don't have that plugin though, so you'll have to play around with the settings and see what sounds good. Panning may also help too. If you want something to get noticed, or your song is becoming dull, remember to pan. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5752236/sonically_speaking_vol_4_the_art_of_pg3.html?cat=33
