  1. I'd happily take a stab. Currently working on Wind Waker music quite extensively for my own project, and I'd be able to create sheet music for each instrument as a pdf, as well as a mastersheet that covers all... Currently working with FL Studio 9, if that's enough to read what you have? Then I have an old copy of Sibelius to write the sheet music out in. If you could email a midi/FL file i'm happy to go from that...
  2. I'd like to change the status of this thread from work in progress to finished, though I'm not sure how to go about doing that. I'm currently hopping back and forth between this and several other projects that I can't share. Whilst in the short term I can't think immediately of what needs changing from the current song if anyone has any suggestions to improve it, or specific greivences with the production, i'd be glad to hear them
  3. I'd never heard of Skiltron before... That song is absolutely epic... Right up until the moment the singer comes in:wink: Just a quick plug for the album guys. I've had a few tentative pokes from people who aren't quite willing to commit yet, and a few more from people who really want songs already taken. Some songs that would help the album immensely if someone would take include Inside the Pirate Ship, Forsaken Fortress or any battle music (listed or otherwise). I want some badass guitars in this album somewhere
  4. Just thought i'd add two cents; you put on original post you weren't sure which lead instrument for end you prefered. For me it's definitely version 7.2. This is a joyous song, that ending seems happier and more upbeat. Also by upping the octive it makes the song seem like it is approaching the natural end, as opposed to the sudden 'oh we're done' clomp in version 7.1. Hope with the suggestions you've been given this makes it; it's been great watching the ammount of effort you've piled into this and that deserves applause.
  5. Update: v3: http://soundcloud.com/swifthom/the-s...ould-end-the-2 (new lead overlayed in, some trumpets subbed out, overall sound lowered and a slight adjustment to the EQ of the whole track Update: Listened to it on different speakers... Wasn't happy. The timps have been replaced, some general EQ changes, most the vocal samples removed and replaced with brass instruments. Still a little muddy in places but now it feels like a proper remix at least. (Lesson for life: trombones solve everything) V2. http://soundcloud.com/swifthom/the-sword-that-could-end-the-1 Original The product of an afternoon testing the usefulness of FL Studio. This was actually done a while ago but I felt like digging it out to share, pondering whether to continue working on it or lay it aside for more meaningful projects (shameless add: - RECRUITING NOW - )... Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNR-wsFAfiU Remix: http://soundcloud.com/swifthom/the-sword-that-could-end-the First of all... VOCAL SAMPLES!!! NOOO!!!! Two reasons for this. One: I originally started composing to put background music behind recorded audio stories I had written and got friends to read. The aquisition of a DAW was entirely to make audiobooks sound good... So using the spoken word for emphasiss is something i'm just used to. Secondly; have you played the game? (sorry NA folks, you'll get your chance ) The characters dont shut up for all of five seconds... The voice acting is a really high standard but they don't half ramm it down your throats. My main horror is that I completely lost all of the beauty in the original song. It started off so elegent and now it's like a machine of war, a tank slowly dragging its momentum from start to finish. Also, possibly due to my background (how I started composing), I am incapable of putting together a good lead. Rhythm, ambience, sound fillers I'm enjoying, but the lead is just... flat. For my audiobooks that tends to not matter as I dont want to distract the listeners from the spoken words but here it just sounds hollow. ... To me anyway. Curious to know what people will make of it.
  6. Beat me to it This has plenty of variation from the source so great. And though you've done apparently done nothing on the production font to spruce up the sounds it doesn't sound to flat at all. As you said the ending could do with tidying up, though i'd say the whole piece starts to feel a bit muted from the 2.11 part onwards when you loose the main guitar, so putting something in to fill up that space might be a good idea, or just add something deep to counterbalance the very high lead.
  7. Project Chaos is the album through which I discovered OCRemix, awesome to still your still around. As for this sing, I didn't really 'get' the source until the 1.30 mark, but when I felt it boy did it hit hard. I like the sense of urgency you've managed to instill into the piece and the slow buildup works perfectly.
  8. The weird thing is it could go in any direction at the moment... Those drums are wicked, and the backing synths do the chord progression justic. But it does feel lacking. Vocals would fill the gap, as would an electronica lead, or even an ear splitting guitar lead (although it might be too close to the original)... Anything really... Can't complain about whats already there though, it is sick
  9. Sorry pokemonstein, this album needs to be a saurprise before release. You can share it around for opinions but can you take the link off the public forum where anyone can see it. Am out socialising the new year right now and too drunk/hung over to give feedback$ could you pm the track to me so I can give you comment. Update: Could I ask everyone who'se shown interest in a track to send me their preliminary ideas by the 1st of March. That should give you just under 2 months to put a first draft together. Anyone who misses the deadline is still welcome to contribute but I may start accepting submissions from others after this date.
  10. Oopps... Orangedragon had already pointed this out but every time I read his sentence I had a momentary brainfreeze... 'Link... Link? What's a Link?'... Oh well, its fixed now. The more the merrier. I'm still keen on this collab for the title track, although if anyting else takes your fancy the free songs are up to date on the first post... The two in orange are two i've seen and been impressed with so hopefully definites (I really, really hope their definites, because their both very different but potentially awesome in their own ways), the ones in pink are ones claimed by people who have yet to produce anything so fingers crossed there.
  11. It's a fantastic idea, and one i'm very keen to get. But I'm afraid my skills are more arrangement than original composition (yeah, i'm a percussionsit) and i've no access to those instruments besides a very cheap midi sounding soundfont. If the wind was blowing right and I get a 'lot' of free time and access to the right kit I might be able to add some drums in, or better still get my girlfriend to give it a go on her kit. ---- In other news I got another first draft the other day, just as fantastic as the first. Keep them coming On my own part I've finallised a rough script with two people and I'm going to get them in studio (sounds professional, actually a spare bedroom with bedsheets on the walls ) between Christmas and new year. I've already composed the backing music for the epic final confrontation, but I need more proper remix songs to fill it out. So, yeah, right now we're still recruiting, so please join up and take a song. Particularly if you're interested in helping out with this Folk Metal song, i'm intruiged.
  12. Just to add this is really fantastic stuff. Shame the project you started it for will never come to light, but what you've done more than stands up on its own. Full of soul and natural beauty; it's a treat to listen to.
  13. Just to let you know, 'NOT ANOTHER ZELDA PROJECT???' isnt the name of the album. We didn't have a title then, we do now; On the Breath of the Wind
  14. Of course. I'll send you a PM soon to discuss the track. I'm pleased to say I heard my first WIP today, and it's excellent. A few people have dropped in to claim tracks , and a few have almost immediately dropped out again , but we're slowly building members . To reiterate, the project is still open for anyone to join, almost any track to claim, or if you have one 'not' on the list that you fancy chancing let me know and i'd love to talk about it. Thanks for your support everyone.
  15. I quite enjoyed this, and the bells instantly seperate it from the source track. I like the way it builds slowly, and the drums, though generic, give it a really nice pace despite the slow main melody.
  16. Just had a quick lsiten to your song during my lunch break, excellent!

I'll listen it to again tonight to give you some proper feedback, but my initial impressions were great. Congratulations on a great track

  17. You know what, I really, really enjoyed this... It segues from one song to another really smoothly, and the interpretation you've added really brings it to life... Quite liked the ending, it doesn't feel too sudden or forced, and after the intensity of the previous minute a moment to relax felt quite called for. Listened to the previous version and I don't feel as many bad clashes as the previous version posessed - your decluttering obviously worked.
  18. It's a pretty sparse source tune, so you've done well to build it up so much... I agree with the previous poster, some of the instruments sound a bit thin, particularly at the start (from about 10 seconds to 30 seconds when your main instrument kicks in)... I like the direction you've gone for and overall sound though... Was going to complain about the length when i'd been listening for ages and it got repetitive, but then I noticed it was only 2 minutes long and the sample had been looping without me noticing
  19. Ah, thankyou, hadn't tried to do it from the forum and my computer wont let me go to advanced edits for some reason... All done now
  20. I've had a few encouraging enquiries about this project, and speaking to one member has pointed me towards a title for the album; On the Breath of the Wind... However, I had no idea when making this topic that it was impossible to change the name of the thread. Calling it 'not another Zelda album' was supposed to be a kind of joke but now I can't get rid of it for our formal title. Are there any moderators who can help?
  21. I don't think anyone likes their own voice. I record other people for audiobooks and the best voice i've ever worked with refuses to do any more because when I played it back to him he cringed... He had a lovely deep, rich, gravelly voice but in his own head its different to what we here... That said, I've tried recording my own voice and working with that. Can't spend the necessary time editing it to get anything good because the experience just isn't pleasant
  22. Happy to offer - If you want a british accent I can offer you one of several

Anyone with a published remix on this site is welcome to claim a track. Anyone else looking to submit music may be required to send a WIP before the track is guaranteed to be theirs. Original Post: Never mind the 25th anniversary of the series, we're not far away from the 10th anniversary of Wind Waker, which musically may have been a peak moment for the series. Surely that's an opportunity too good to pass. I'm looking to put together a short album commemorating this oddball of a game which put together so many memorable themes from previous games, and came up with a few of its own. I'm looking for each song to 'tell a story', not necessarily through vocals but through its atmosphere and ambience. Around the music I want to convey the actual story of the game using narration and leitmotifs, similar in structure to the way Richard Burton narrates Jeff Wayne’s ‘War of the Worlds. (If you’re not familiar, please check here for a taste, it is EXCELLENT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSifCF8k27A ). I think there’s a real scope to bring the ‘legend’ to life using a device similar to that. It should allow us to encompass a range of diverse musical styles, yet tying everything together as a single cohesive piece. However if you just want to remix music; that’s fine. Fitting the actual narration together and arranging the album as a whole is something I’m happy to take charge of, letting whoever wants to contribute free to simply get on with composing. If you're interested you, please get in touch. PM me and i'll pass around an email address, and eventually, if people want, sort out a forum where we can compare notes online. About me: I have for some years now been working on audiobooks, writing, getting people to record what i've written, editing it to sound professional and in some cases composing music to go alongside what's already there. I'm hoping to release what I've spent (in some cases) five years working on next year (fingers crossed)... Wind Waker Such an excellent range of musical cues; a rich and varied soundscape. I’m looking for anything with a basis in this game, or that shares songs with other parts of the series if necessary, but we can’t complete the album without the songs detailed above. When Well, if everything goes to schedule, I’d LOVE this to be available for the games 10th anniversary… Of course that dates approaching fast and I’ve no idea what kind of feedback I’ll get. If anyone out there was considering looking at a Wind Waker song, or ‘any’ Zelda song, please get in touch. On the other hand a year isn’t a very long time, so we’ll see.
  24. Just wanted to add that the first 30 seconds or so are up there with the best. I wouldn't worry that it's too short, you've plenty of material here and considering how minimimalistic the source is you're best off tweaking it to perfection at its current length than wasting time trying to drag it on longer. Really, really nice piece though, well done.
  25. The whole album is really, really, really, really good. A couple of standout songs in particular that are too numerous to name. Well done
