  1. Did I ever reply to your Volaire suggestion? I LOVE Voltaire... If you can channel him then thats perfect.

  2. I've been relistening to all the tracks I have so far and your arrangement stands out. I love it... I don't suppose you could send me the raw .wav file at some point?

  3. Yes, your good. Anyone who has shown me anything to proove commitment is good. I just want to check people are prepared to work on tracks, otherwise I want to reopen them up for anyone else out there who might be interested. I'm just waiting on one more WIP which has been promised to be delivered this week before I do a head count.
  4. Okay, i've been fairly useless about chasing the missing WIPs. That'll change next week; I'm about to start putting together a package of what we have to determine where we are with this thing. Some tracks will probably become available again unless people get in touch soon. Anyone out there interested please get in touch. Tom
  5. Well, i've missed the 1st of March, but my inbox has been filling up. Could everyone get in touch and let me know how its going - i need either a WIP from everyone or a solid commitment that you are working on it, otherwise i'll have to re open some of the songs up .
  6. Well, in the book, it does descirbe Kw'uothe (been so long I'm not sure of the spelling?) playing the guitar (lute??? it was something with strings) like no other alive... Agreed it does sound more like a harpsichord than a guitar though. Not necessarily a bad thing but it jarrs slightly with the nature stuff around it (to me it summons the image of an english victorian dining room)... That said, it is beautiful. Now work this into a full peace, go on
  7. I love that book... I'll check this out in a few hours Tom
  8. Updates - 1st of March is looming people - I'm looking forward to some more awesome music soon Had a few developments recently, which I like. One of the keenest of which however is a request; GRANDMA'S THEME! Yeah, such a simple, adorable, tune, there's nothing to it. Does anyone dare take the challenge? Go on, surprise me. And if that doesn't take your pick there are still other songs available, see the first post
  9. Mangaman: Well someone's already claimed that song If your prepared to write the lyrics, i may potentially be able to put down a live drum track... Let me have a think, i'll get back to you ASAP with some suggestions. I'd like 'another' vocal piece on the collection (SPOILERS ) SkyriderX: Go ahead, i'll put your interest on the front post
  10. Cheers for your interest, both of you. Mangaman - I'd love to have more vocalists, but I'm terrible at writing lyrics, otherwise I would have taken Orangedragon up on his offer. I'll keep you in mind though if something comes up - I'm trying to work out an idea (potentially....) Pixelpanic - I had put WIP deadline as the 1st of March for everyone who'se already claimed a song. Thats just so I know that they actually are capable and interested in turning a song out. We are getting fairly close to that date though so there's a little leeway Once I've heard a satisfactory WIP the track is guaranteed yours, but i'll put you down as interested. Looking forward to hearing it
  11. I LOVED the double clawshot in Twilight Princess.... And I was really, really, really eager to get a second pair in SS... Only, it wasn't made advantage of in 'quite' the same way... Seriously, the Sky level from TP could be expanded to an entire small 'Portal' style game and it would be brilliant.
  12. I've finally been able to sit down for a few minutes to get some work done on this. In the interval i've recieved a very, very nice WIP for Farewell Hyrule King from a very talented pianiast Seriously, favourite song of the game, series, of any video game ever... A few years ago I put together a half hour a slideshow of photographs/videos of my college friends, so we could get together one last time before we all went to go our seperate ways, and I stuck that song on at the end.. There were tears in the crowd 1st March deadline for WIPs are looming. If you wont make it, thats fine, but please get in touch to tell me if you still want it. If I havent heard from you or seen at least some form of WIP i'll have to reopen the track to the general public. Anyone who hasnt come forward to claim a song, please speak up now. I'm practically GIVING them away
  13. Is it actually confirmed dead or just missing in action?
  14. Okay, I skipped a few agreements and disagreements that followed this ... I'd say Wind Waker, as a whole, has more 'potential' than Majora's mask. The plot strikes a perfect balance between the epic battle of good vs evil, a brilliant adventure and a character piece (not that the moon hitting the planet isnt epic, but Majora's Mask story suceeds BRILLIANTLY due to its characters).... The setting is brilliant as well; a wild, endless ocean, it's bright, vibrant, the feeling when you first get on that boat is brilliant. It's a fun, exciting, bold, fresh adventure, which is just what Zelda should be. For me it's the only game that made Ganondorf actually an interesting villain, every other one he's just 'I WILL CONQUER RAWRRR' whereas here he's already conquered, lost it all, and wants it back. Okay, there's not really any more motivation, but there's a hell of a lot more nuance to it. Yet, somewhere, it does stumble. Perhaps too long going back and forth on the boat, or not quite enough dungeons, but that epic feeling of adventure does dwindle as you go along. On the other hand Majora's Mask only gets better as you probe deeper into it. It's a smaller game but its bursting with content. So i'd say MM gets far closer to its full potential than Wind Waker does, but there are moments in Wind Waker that are the best the series has to offer.
  15. There was a time, on my very first playthrough of S&K, when I reached Sandopolis act 2 unaware of what was to happen. It went dark, a ghost killed me and that was it... Had to turn to console off, back away from the TV and not play the game for a few days... I was young... I'm an adult now but this mix gives me that feeling all over again. Brrr.... Really, really, really excellent stuff
  16. Usually I end up listening to songs on OCR of games i've played. Even if its not a game I remember that well, hearing something that I associate with a moment in a game gives the song an extra frission you otherwise don't get. There are great, amazing songs on OCR from games i've never touched, but I often find I end up returning to 'average' songs from games I know, simply for the nostalgia... It means something to me, and this amazing yet unknown composition doesn't have. The end result, songs I end up coming back to again and again tend to be from games i've played... So, hands on deck first, i've never played a single one of these games. Yet, for all the songs in this album, i've enjoyed every single one. Got a great emotive feel to it that drew me right in. Only listened on a long train journey but it was a good one, thanks for the experience.
  17. I've sent you a private message Mirby with the work i've done so far... Let me know what you think.
  18. Sorry I havent been online to answer some of your messages this last week. Some surprises at work have resulted in me going on a placement for a few weeks, so i've been prepping to ship out. Which means as of next week i've no access to my equipment, which is all staying at home. I'll have a laptop with my DAW on me but no midi keyboard and the RAM is appalling... Plus i'll be fairly busy... So, sorry in advance, i'll be rubbish to contact for a few weeks. Keep up the good work though and i'll be back with plenty of time before any deadlines. If anyone does want to get in touch i'll try and get a responce, but it wont be immediate, sorry We're still accepting several songs, see the first post. On a personal note if anyone has any ideas about something funky they could do something funky with the Forsaken Fortress song its something i'd love to hear. Anyone interested? Anyone?
  19. If you want in on the private blog space i've set up for this album, you two can discuss collabing on there I'd really love to hear that track. Just pm me your email and i'll send you an invite.
  20. I've the original Sonic Game Over / Continue rolling around continously in my head... Don't know if i've the time to claim it though...
  21. Just been listening to Nightwish's new album : imaginaerium (sp?) It's not a traditional album as far as I see it, its difficult to pick a track out and say: this one is great, this one isn't... The whole thing sort of merges into one grand experience. It's a high concept piece, an epic event and a mind melting journey. Took two listens to get my head around it but now I can't stop thinking about it. This will haunt me for a few months at least
  22. Cheers. Until now I had been paying close attention to the individual tracks and the master track, i'd completely ignored the monitor at the top of the screen. Oh well, the point of this was to learn what I'm doing with FL Studio. I know its not a great masterpiece but more suggestions of things I can do to learn plz. v3: http://soundcloud.com/swifthom/the-sword-that-could-end-the-2 (new lead overlayed in, some trumpets subbed out, overall sound lowered and a slight adjustment to the EQ of the whole track)
  23. Well, people have talked about ideas for it, and collaborations have been mooted, but nothing yet as far as I know... However, I deliberately put both 'Title Theme' and 'Ending Theme' on the track list as their quite similar songs and should give the album some nice simmitary. The more I think about it, several of the individual ideas i've heard mooted for this collab, sound like they might be very appropriate for 'Ending Theme'... So if you want a shot at it, i'd love to hear what you have. Remix either song and i'll decide nearer the time which is appropriate to have at which point in the album. ------ A quick progress update - both my voice artists who agreed to do the narration for this album have confirmed they are free to record this weekend. Any people dependent on some samples from me for their songs should let me know their exact specifications otherwise i'll just have to do several takes and you can have whats best suited. One person has backed out of a song, one other person has shown interest. I've set up a private blog where we can discuss everything (including this potential collab) and you can find the narrated sections next week once i've done a preliminary edit. Also, although I had a fun ten minutes throwing together the cover art on the first page, I'm not sure if its exactly what this album requires. Any artists interested in taking a shot at either that, or just art for the album at all, get in touch via PM or on here. Reminder for people who currently have tracks claimed - 1st WIP deadline 1st March, I expect a 30% WIP or at least a concept piece so I can see what your aiming for.
  24. I'd be capable... Havent played in a big band like that since I left college but that's not what daunts me. Sibelius, The program I was going to use is on an old laptop (my old college one) and I fetched it out of the cupboard to find it wont turn on. So that's all my old college chemistry notes gone If I can find the disk it wont be a problem but I havent seen it in years and about two house moved... Sorry.
  25. Sat down to work on the Cid theme for the first time today... Quite a refreshing break from spending the last week knee deep in the soul destroying discordance of Ganondorf's theme in wind waker. I've a rough structure drawn out and some rough instruments assigned for the very first few bars... Still new to the idea of remixing, but fingers crossed
