  1. I can't decide if the introduction of the piano around 2.20 is to sudden or too slow, either way I'd definitely say that's the one transition that seems a little 'off' to me. Otherwise a great, great track. More of a medley than a remix but still, it remains a great interpretation. Great job
  2. Excellent. So this is happening then I'm just playing Sonic CD now on Steam. Never actually heard the game with the Japansese soundtrack before. It's a bit... different, still cool. Please tell me whatever else happens this album will cover both
  3. http://soundcloud.com/swifthom/have-you-raised-ur-low H.Y.R.U.L.E... Yeah. it's yet another Zelda remix ( ).To be honest I was just messing around with drum sequences and this sort of came to me. Don't know if it's got potential to go anywhere but though I'd share what i've done. (This is in no way at all connected to any other projects i'm involved with )
  4. Excellent song. FFXII had great music but was very short on anthemic, memorable, catchy tunes. It was all a little too ambient... As we all get bored with the constant reworkings of the same old classics, maybe this will be the future of ocremix. Taking these big modern works and putting the beeps and bops back in them.
  5. Sadly the fact Rayman Legends has been put back to 2013 may stop this being a day 1 purchase for me. The only Launch games I was 100% sold on was it and AssaSsin's Creed, which I can play on another console if I have to. Will probably still get a Wii U but not until next year when 1) I'm a little richer and 2) it has good 2D platformers and great RPG/adventure games of its own.
  6. Great, send me a WIP when you can.

  7. A few people are working on tracks but aren't ready to send me updates yet. So, to ensure we're all on the same schedule, here's my plan. I want near complete tracks by October 15th. This wont be 'final' WIPs but I would like a complete song with a start, middle and end. Hopefully then we'll have until the end of the year to make final adjustments. If anyone else wants to volunteer for tracks, i'm still open.
  8. Scary ambient stuff... At least at first before it goes batshit crazy Not sure about the lead at 1.15, but given how mad the rest of the mix is at that point I enjoyed it. The lead at 1.43 almost sounds like it was lifted 'directly' from the original. I'd also say the ending 2.36 to the end goes on a little longer than neccessary. All in all though, good mix, very very good mix.
  9. Today, with permission of the composers, I can release the Soundtrack to Monsters, the short story audiobook collection I released last month. There are nine tracks featuring entirely original compositions, mainly by Mark Jackson but also featuring both myself and Bex Jackson. There's a range of different types of music on display so take a moment to browse around and decide for yourself. I'd particularly like to big up 'Three Sisters' which is a live, original recording made with the musiciains (Mark and Bex) on Piano and Drum, listening to the story through headphones and playing along. It was recorded in just one take.... Anyway, you can find the complete collection at http://distantspires.bandcamp.com/album/monsters-the-soundtrack So please, have a look. Trailer:
  10. I've found in the past this is something I just have to work around. If the tempo changes, the length of the wav file in terms of beats and bars will necessarily have to adjust along with it, that's a sad fact of life. Or, are you looking for a way to have the wav file slow down / speed up so it always stays in time?
  11. One major complaint; it's too short! A wonderful, epic, sweeping piece. Sonic the action movie couldn't do better. And just when you think a songs been done so many times it has nowhere else to go
  12. Pokemonstein has done wonders with a piece of artwork that hopefully i'll be showing off soon. Thanks very much Also the song i'm working on with Mangaman and John is slowly, slowly taking shape. Anyone with us over at KNGI, please pop down there and check in. I've put some of my more recent work up and I need to know how the tracks are coming along. The due date for second WIPS is July, and that's rushing by fairly fast. Don't make me come looking for you Only joking I've been away from the PC for a number of reasons, so I havent had a chance to manage you as closely as I should, but i'm hoping to be back full time very shortly. Sorry about that, my fault. Lets get this album rolling again. And if ANYONE out there is still interested there are still some mixes that would be awesome: 1) Dragon Roost Island 2) Any Battle theme 3) GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNDMAAAAAAAAA! Anything you like
  13. After voting in the first few rounds a dodgy internet connection and illness meant I didn't vote after the first few weeks. Shame, it looks like I missed out on a corker. Congratulations to everyone; some excellent tracks. Edit: Oh, and Sir Jordanious, that second vid is brillliant.
  14. Not going to go back over prev versions, but of the 07.20.2012: You've already had some good technical feedback so here's a more emotional overview. Loved the slow intro, the build was just right and when things kicked off at the minute mark I found myself tapping my foot along. Perfect; that's just what you want Wasn't too keen on the changup at the 2 minute mark, somewhere along the way the middle section lost my interest. Don't know why. Fortunately at the 2.30 breakdown my interest was regained and I loved it from there to the end. Well done for a good track, I really enjoyed it
  15. If it comes to the Wii U i'd definitely get it... If it doesn't come to the Wii U, i may not even get the console (seriously, these kind of downloadable titles (Sonic CD as well) are EXACTLY the kind of thing Nintendo need to get hold of to secure interest. A few more big IPs and downloadable content like this...
  16. Edit: Today, with Mark's permission, we released 'Monsters: The Soundtrack' which features clean versions of the music used on all the audiobooks released below. You can find it here at bandcamp: Original Post: http://www.distantspires.com/download/index.php This isn't technically 'music' per say but it has 'music' in it. For years I've been sitting on a collection of recordings I made several years ago of short stories written by both myself and others, being read by friends and colleagues. Now, after a long post production period, they are ready to be released, each story with original music (mainly composed by a good friend of mine Mark Jackson of the band freehold). Our first release, Monsters, is finally ready: www.distantspires.com This is a completely amateur production, written, directed, edited and composed by people donating their spare time for free. Unfortunately due to a commitment I have to Mark and the narrators i'm not offering the collection for nothing, but we will put free stories up in the near future, alongside more collections.
  17. Are they the days when you are or aren't free this week?

I'll be free on Wednesday if so

  18. Just to let people know, although I've been in absentia recently, i've nearly finished moving house and once I get the internet sorted in the new place, I will be collecting together second WIPs. Looking forward to hearing from you all Tom
  19. The Ecco series has some of the most high quality remixes on the site; happy to say this doesn't break the trend. Excellent, excellent mix
  20. Sorry, though i'd sent you a message saying this wednesday or thursday are great for me if you can make it.
  21. I recorded a test drum track over the weekend; i'll have a sample for you soon. I've a new computer arriving over the weekend so I can actually master these tracks properly. In other news: July is deadline month. Could anyone with tracks claimed get a new WIP to me as soon as possible.
  22. Hi, sorry, house move is immiment and that's distracted me.

I'll be free this thursday though if you can make it? That or potentially wednesday if you can't do thursday. That or one night next week

  23. Is the weird thing... Pretty much EVERYTHING they've shown is Launch window material. I.E. they are ONLY making a thing about what is nearly done. This is in stark contrast to the 3DS and Wii where they'd talk about stuff years down the line. Paper Mario was announced BEFORE the 3DS launched for god sake... In this case though, i don't mind. I want to see what the future has in store before I commit to buying a console. Well done to them for not teasing a game and then holding it for 2 more years, but in this RARE case thats EXACTLY WHAT I WANT. (as long as they were honest and said; "this wont be ready this year ....)
  24. It just felt like Nintendo was holding back... I just needed one more 'proper' game to be announced at the end and I would have been happy. One wild card up their sleeve... Nintendo Land was not it. A proper, killer game that showed Nintendo understands EXACTLY how to use HD properly. And there are Wii U games we KNOW are coming they haven't touched on. P-100 being one of them; perhaps they were scared that on first glance it kind of resembles Pikmin. Also; what happened to Dragon Quest X? thats something we were told was going to Wii U...
  25. A couple of months back I 'nearly' decided to submit something i'd written to one of the competitions here... But there was a catch 22... Looked at how much responce you got and thought it wasn't worth it. But then again if i'd bothered to respond there might have been A responce and then other people might have been more inclined. And so the circle of disinterest goes around and around Edit: Just noticed the hiatus. When you DO come back, with enough warning i'd definitely be up for it.
