  1. That works too heh About to go live with some MMX practice. It'll be a short stream before I get crackin on music stuff, but it's something twitch.tv/phonetichero
  2. Your link is broked dude! The text is right, but the URL is off
  3. I stream mostly speed runs, been working Mega Man X, but I'll run Super Metroid and MMX4 (sorta) from time to time as well, probably going to learn others soon. Haven't had the time to do much of it lately (and my tech is really starting to suffer because of it...) but I'm usually able to do at least one night a week http://www.twitch.tv/phonetichero
  4. I'll chime in here. I think the biggest problem with the drums not hitting hard enough is that the fundamentals of each drum (that is, the lowest frequency in their spectrum) aren't present enough. It's most apparent in the snare (and toms, but they don't play all that often) - there's a lot of upper register without much oomph on the lower end, so it's a bit tinny sounding, y'know? The kick seems like it's had some of its lower end boosted, but the fundamental (usually reeeeaaally low for a kick) is still a bit absent. Try beefing those fundies up, and maybe add in some compression to give them that "large and in charge" presence, if you're comfortable with it (though just as a note, I usually do compression before additive/boosting EQ) Aside from that, my biggest issue is that the bass in general is pretty lacking, and it *is* drum and BASS afterall! Pump that bad dad UP! Hope that helps
  5. Us dudes at 9BR put this together a bit over a year ago. It's not game remixes, but it's got that game vingdeo gaem panache yo, and it's totally Halloweiner themed And yeah total bumps for Danse Macabre
  6. Wheeeee!! Good to see this finally posted. Can't get enough of those leads at 1:50
  7. Just finished this one up and about to sub it, but I thought I'd share it here anyway. If anyone has any thoughts and/or criticisms, feel free to let me know! This is a remix of all the tunes present in Stage 3 of Super Castlevania IV. I'd started this one along with 2 others in an attempt to make a 5 track album of the first 5 stages (part 1 of 3, covering the whole game), but I didn't like the direction the other tracks were going and decided to can them and re-approach the album a bit later. I thought this one was too cool to pass up though, so I've been finishing it up over the last couple weeks, and here it is. Let me know what you think A lot of the cool synths (particularly the phased bass layer) are GMS. I know I've said it before, but IT'S FREE with FL 11, and it's really powerful for a default synth. If you've got any questions about the synthesis, don't hesitate to ask! RIPPLES (Stage 3 remix) Sources:
  8. An event like this would be really fun! Are you thinking of having people go to one specific location for this? A lot of us could probably stream from our homes, and travel would be expensive. Especially if there was no per diem for the mixers, I probably wouldn't be able to do it. Can't really afford any more trips where I don't at least break even :'(
  9. Weird that this was my busiest/most involved MAG yet and I saw hardly any of you for more than a quick chat or bro-grab in passing </3 Best part for me (shows aside) was the Mega Man-athon (hosted by Half Empty Energy Tank), where the twitch team I'm a part of (Insert Coin Theatre) raised $1200-1500 of the $4000 total with just 8 or 9 of the 72 hours of screen time. Here's a pic of 4 of us from ICT gearing up for my runthrough of Mega Man Zero 2 (left to right: Jehm_Faulking, xoTreeHugger, Shando Calrisian, meee) Hope everyone's Fest was super-fucking-rad as balls! Hopefully I'll get to see everyone a little more fully next time
  10. Whoa, thanks man!! It seriously means a ton when I hear people liked the track, thanks so much :D

  11. Holy moly, great to hear from you man
  12. Any of my stuff is fair game as well, except licensed stuff (like the Daft Punk remix I did). Feel free to scour my bandcamp or soundcloud
  13. Hey guys, I got some requests in the Smash scene for a sheet music transcription of the theme. I don't have time for a full transcription, but I got a skeleton written out that's been separated into melodies, harmonies/counter melodies, block chords, and bass. If you're interested, feel free to take a look/download! Please forgive all the technical errors that I'm sure it's rife with, I haven't had to score anything except percussion parts in 5 years or so Here's the whole folder with the score and all the pieces (harmonies/counters and block chords are together in the individual part PDFs) https://app.box.com/s/iqfptmkioi23u34gi8n0
  14. I keep forgetting to post here, but I was asked to be part of the month of weekly treats curated by the Chiptunes=WIN community, spearheaded of course by Brandon "President Hoodie" Hood. My turn finally came up about a week ago, and here's the result! Coffee Stomp You can check out the full compilation here: http://www.weeklytreats.net/ I had a ton of fun writing this track (even though it caused me more than a little stress with the deadline). This was my first foray into aggressive low-tempo and bass heavy electronic music. For those curious, EVERYTHING IN HERE aside from the drums and an acoustic bass sample chopped up and used (sparingly) in the section at 1:37 (and again at 3:39) is either an FL 11 default (NES instruments, electronic basses) or a soundfont (all SNES/Genesis instruments). All of the EDM-y bass stuff was GMS, which, if you have FL 11 and haven't looked into it yet, I highly encourage you to do - it's extremely powerful for something you don't have to pay extra for. If you've got any questions about the synth itself, don't hesitate to ask, I'd love to offer some pointers if anyone wants them. Anyway, enjoy and let me know what you think! EDIT: Also the final master was done by my bestie and roommate ectogemia on VERY short notice. Go give him a follow if you feel so inclined
  15. Totes gorge, bruh. The emotions really come through. It sounds like the piece is saying "things suck, but it's time to pack this up and move forward." Very resolute and melancholy, I really dig it
  16. Thanks so much everyone The positive response has been incredible, and a bit overwhelming haha. Can't wait to get cooking on some more tunes for them!
  17. Hahaha. Thanks man! Glad you think I hit my mark alright Turns out Ben (Briggs) actually knows the guy who made the Space Jam remix, and he lives here in Indy with us. We hung out with him on our stream earlier, and Ben re-released the mix on his youtube channel with better art etc. Crazy how small a world it really is.
  18. I totally get that. No worries, that's why I didn't stress about finding someone right away.
  19. Thanks guys! Ol' Will's got some music in 3.5 as well, be sure to check out the game when it's available for download Also Did I do it? Is this what it feels like to make it?
  20. Hey guys! I'm extremely excited to announce that I had the honor of writing the new theme for Project M. They're releasing 3.5 tonight, and the dudes in charge of Project M's PR have just posted the track on their , as well as making it the backing music for the page to build hype for the download link for the new version release. Garrett Williamson (G-Mixer) and Chris "Riddlrr" Battaglia also helped out, with a piano addition and mastering respectively.I'd love to hear what everyone thinks! I had a lot of fun trying to emulate the Smash Bros. feel, hopefully I did alright EDIT: Also up on Soundcloud now
  21. So I'm guessing some of y'all heard about Project M being dropped from the roster... Do you still want a remix of the menu track Darke? I'd love for it to still be included, but if it doesn't fit that's fine too
