  1. Manually, in FL10, I'm using automation clips to edit my Master channels Multiband Compressor and lowering all frequency knobs.
  2. I love both. They have both fallen in quality, however.
  3. Thanks man! Goldenrod is a song I hold dearly to me, from way back when I was 3! I could never let it go. And I felt like the source was so...geometric(?), like it was all quarter and eight notes, somethin had to change! Actually, funny coincidence. I was regarding those exact drums from that exact song on the way home from school, and I am still as we speak looking for a more conventional bass kick (that I don't have to pay for, of course ) like the one in that same remix. Also, ack :c I'm happy I'm gotten to the point where I have somewhat hi-fi sounds, but being asked to lo-fi them is just, eugh But, I'll try! Yeah, the idea of a countermelody has been floating in my head for a few days, but I thought it'd make the song too busy, actually, so I opted out. Thank you, and thanks everyone who gave me those samples, they are amazing and very easy to work with!
  4. It's okay Your friend does awesome work, and it actually spawned a bit of thought for me whilst on the toilet after listening. I've actually done a fun thing with the melody after the small bridgey thingy that keeps the song interesting and I managed to kinda recreate Timaeus' lead sample (less reverb though). I might have the last WIP up tonight before I go to work on my next project for a while (gotta keep creative juices flowin'). After that, though, I wanna put this one to rest for a week or two. Also, I may have a WIP of my next song soon (not tonight soon, but within a week or two soon, I really wanna make the arrangement for this one cool), and you might be able to see what I'm aiming to do with this and that!
  5. I agree with all you said, it was hap-hazardly assembled, but I kinda have issue here. It was the melody. Like, most of the song. I transposed it to Spring Yards key, but it was definitely the melody of Hill Top, as well as the inspiration for the pad/chords. Also, there is a little bridge part which is taken directly from Hill Top. I know the slowed tempo makes it a little difficult to decipher, but it's the same progression, note for note.
  6. I was misinformed! Thank you for clearing that up. I never really got a grasp on DPCM. It seems really damn confusing, even the name sounds kinda scary (differential pulse-code modulator? yipes).
  7. NOT A JUDGE, but most links to NO's are removed via a rule passed removing links to submitted tracks unless noted by the remixer in the submission form. Just sayin, finding NO's may be difficult.
  8. Well, the sine wave thing is kind of where my disconnect from the chiptune aspect is. See, I don't want to do a full-out 9bit song, but I still want a simple sound. It's more of a stylistic choice, I'm not trying to fit in a genre. And yes, I have dabbled in chiptune theory (I guess) whilst learning LSDj and Famitracker through and through, and the fun part of the triangle waves is their ability to be manipulated, which wasn't often used in old games due to not having quite the advantageous interfaces as we do now, allowing some to even imitate voices (a trick I don't remember seeing done well until the Genesis). I feel as though people are seeing this as a failed attempt at 8bit, when really it's another type of thing. It's like discrediting jazz because it's unorganized. But my sounds still suck butt, I'm willing to admit, so I'm working on that immediately
  9. Thanks a bunch guys I decided to move it back to WIP while testing these awesome synths as well as Zebra 2.
  10. Finally, someone who brings the Fair Use act into debate I like your style! I always have people at school ask me that about what I do, and I like to think of it as citing a source in a paper. I sure as hell didn't write the fact/testimony I collected, but I paraphrased the shit out of it, and nobody gets on my ass about it, because I (or in this real life case, OCRemix does this for us) acknowledged: 1) The source 2) The composer (or author, per example) 3) Original date of publishing 4) All that other citation stuff I forget at the moment As long as we are aware that WE DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE ORIGINAL MUSIC, NOR DO WE CLAIM TO BE CREATING PURELY ORIGINAL MUSIC WHILST "REMIXING", we're pretty much in the clear, as far as I know.
  11. I imagine it's definitely tough for a remixer to: 1) Get a nice symphony sound (not the tough part) 2) Mix Power Metal instruments (tough, but very possible) 3) Combine them (I can't even imagine how nightmarish that must be for a mixer) 4) Master it (Jesus Christ this is just giving me a headache thinking about it) While symphonic power metal is so totally possible, as it is a thing that people do, I'm sure it requires a LOT of production and fiddling. I imagine.
  12. I might be playing a few days later when I have my paycheck and some extra money in the bank, but I will try to get it on release. I may be playing with some IRL friends first, though.
  13. Just wondering, what proof do you have that a sitar and a marimba wouldn't work? IMO, that sounds pretty kick-ass.
  14. These raps seem inspirin' But boy they be tirin' I hold a strong hope Though my mind thought it dope My easy-listenin' experiment be fixed with more experience At first I was sad Maybe even mad But swallowin mah shame ain't half that bad, so, Seein first-hand What a compo will demand Will prepare me to tread in techniques, new and dead I'm not playin' anymore Be it Mavericks or Masters, I'm bringin' fresh beats, galore And they be fatter (BUM BUH-DISH BUH BUH DISH BUM) So here's where I end My crusade of cuttin' trends My style must evolve to be findin' what blends But it depends Should I go or should I stop? I think it whole-heartedly Whoops I gotta go mah momma be callin me Hope you all the best of luck In the end seems, I was f*cked But hey, dems dah breaks Phonetic Heros beats are great Word.
  15. Well, seems like the votes are against me... So I'll just have to root for Phonetic Hero next round! No way I'm losing to a loser!
  16. Dang, PH, that mix was pretty dang groovy, like almost on 'jive turkey' levels! I definitely want to see how this pans out!
  17. Eh whatevs, we can only see what our individual unpreparedness will produce Best of luck to ya in 3 hours
  18. haha, I have a slight feeling you're more prepared than I am, I had a great idea and in the end I forgot how much time I actually do stuff (I'm shocked). But REGARDLESS you best ready to feel the sizzle of my saws, the touches of my tris and the softness of my sines, this shizz is gonna make you wanna LOUNGE to death!
  19. Due to family stuff and a recent school band concert, I didn't actually have as much time as I thought for finishing touches, but what I did do is in your inbox, SuperiorX.
  20. I'm feelin what you're saying man, and yeah I have since changed that one weirdo chord (it was starting to bother ME, the one defending it) and thanks bunches for pointing out that distortion! I believe I have fixed it, but I'm glad someone pointed it out And while this may be a somewhat awkward place to begin waxing theory, the weirdo chord was definitely wrong when I started thinking about it. At first, the chord is represented as a Third apart, but then that Third is doubled, making it a sixth apart! Like, WTF was I thinkin??? That makes the chord way different! I mean, it's possible, but it's awkward changing the properties of a chord mid-chord
