wip Wiesty & XPRTNovice--Variations de Chocobo
jnWake replied to Wiesty's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Haha this is pretty cool, you can't go wrong with XPRT! I feel that the volumes are all over the place though, you should use more compression because there are tons of volume jumps in many sections and they are a bit distracting. I also feel everything is slightly dry, so you could add reverb/delay. The 3rd arrangement is really good by the way, very interesting interpretation of the source! -
finished Marble Clouds in Azure Skies (Sonic 3)
jnWake replied to Jamphibious's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I love this remix! If I were important in this site I'd direct post it immediately Anyway, for some useful "criticism", I feel the backing e. piano could use a bit more punch. Maybe editing it so that the attack is a bit more noticeable would help. Also, as timaeus said, the kick could stand out more. I have no problem with your guitar playing by the way, but I guess it could use more vibratto in the longer notes. -
wip Metroid (NES) - Met(e)rodd (Jazz/odd meter)
jnWake replied to Nostalvania's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Ha! This is great, like Sim City meets Metroid or something. Samples are very dry, particularly the leads. You should try and get live instruments for this, it'd sound incredible. Arrangement is really cool but I wonder why you stopped using kick and snare for like half of the song I missed them! -
Nice mood! The piano (both acoustic and electric) lines are great and I love how they sound. I feel the bass and kick are too low though, while the hihat is a bit loud and stale. Beautiful song !

This is very cool We don't see that many western style remixes! -
Can I claim Mega Man Soccer? Haven't set on a particular song because it has a lot of good songs... Probably gonna mix a few sources together

This thread is lacking more praise to DKCTF's soundtrack! Here are some of my favourites so far: I'm playing World 5 right now so I'm probably missing some masterpieces. I also didn't link the tracks that remix classic DKC songs, even if some of these have nods to classic DKC music.
-
Time Trials and replays are great. However, I like trying to find my own route for shiny gold before looking at the top 8.

DKCTF is amazing. I've been addicted to it since last friday. The music is awesome too.

wip [SZRC] Sonic 2 & Lost World - Sonic in the Sky with Buildings
jnWake replied to jnWake's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Yeah, I really struggled with the kick sample from the kit I picked. I'll look into that 1:28 thing @Nase: The name was Mirby's suggestion so all complaints are forwarded to her -
I haven't posted anything here in a while! This is the track I made for round 2 of SZRC, mixing Metropolis Zone from Sonic 2 and Sky Road Zone 2 from Sonic Lost World. I wanted to make something funky! Link: https://soundcloud.com/jnwake/sonic-2-sonic-lost-world-sonic I want to polish the mixing and fix some mistakes (there's a mistimed note near the end ) so I'm interested in your feedback!

This is interesting. ANY town theme counts or are you looking for games that have the same music for every town? Also, do you count Super Paper Mario as a RPG?
-
Ha! You finally went with it! I'll see if I can grab something
-
Happy birthday! I apparently will gift you a pass to SZRC's next round

I voted! Listened to the tracks many times to make my decisions. On wildfire vs halc I went with halc mainly because the arrangement was more varied. Both songs are pretty good, fun arrangements and nice vocals. wildfire shows a lot of progression in the vocal production from Round 1 too! On Hakstock vs Amphibious I went with Amphibious because I could recognize the sources more easily. Again, both songs are very good, Hak's is very energetic and has nice playing with a few rough spots. Amph's song has an amazing groove, very clean production and some lovely chords. The guitar also adds a nice touch. On me vs SuperiorX I went with me because I'm an ass Nah, honestly, I felt my source usage was more balanced between the two songs. Production in Superior's song is clearer and sharper but I have a hard time finding the Sky Road usage, while Metropolis is very evident. I also loved Sir Nuts' track. Nice production and vibe!

OCRA-0045 - Sonic CD: Temporal Duality
jnWake replied to SuperiorX's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
Holy shit at that thread haha. The amount of hate is a curious mix of hilarious and sad...
