  1. After all of the great help you've given me on my Angry Aztec mix, I'm excited for what you'll come up with for the final boss theme. Keep me updated on your progress!
  2. Yes of course! And yes I use FLStudio 9 currently. I'm open for input on the bassline, as I'm rather stuck in solidifying it at the moment.

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see this post until just now >_

  3. Beautiful work, ambient and powerful, definitely tossing this into my Rainy Day playlist. Love the original interpretation, and everything about this, really.
  4. Sounds fantastic, those tweaks really balanced it out nicely! I'm excited for the album now!
  5. It didn't sound bare to me until you pointed it out, and now it's driving me nuts lol I added some reverb to the snare, thinking of something else that can fill that and give it a better pace without changing the mood I want it to have. As far as synths go, I'm already using Massive for most of the instruments in the song lol I was able to pick up Massive, Razor, and FM8 for cheap last year during a sale, the whole lot for $199. Problem is, Razor won't let me do anything but use the presets and FM8 is something I'm completely inexperienced with so I spend a lot of time on Massive. And for filler sounds, I'm actually re-downloading Synplant VST at the moment. I had it on my last rig and just haven't gotten around to getting it on this one. If you haven't played with it, Synplant is a great way to add some texture and depth to your music, which I'm hoping is just what this needs. EDIT: Here's the current version, I think the bass sounds a bit better, I filled out the drop section a tad without trying to crowd it up too much. Left the first few beats empty, though, because I like the effect of the silence. Added some of the different-key stuff from the original song, not sure if I like it.
  6. Everybody has covered most of the issues I have been able to find so far, listen to the guys before me! I think the one thing that throws me on this track is the snare. As somebody who loves and produces Glitch Hop, I feel like a shorter snare with more punch/pop could make this sound a lot better. I would also suggest giving a bit more volume to the mid-bass stuff, so it can shine through the highs a bit more. That being said, great track and wonderful concept!
  7. I like this a lot! My main issues are the snare/clap sample you use for the buildup and the section around 1:50. It seems out of place in a DnB track in my opinion. Some stuff I would tweak would be make the intro a little less heavy on the drums, maybe have similar samples EQ'd to be a bit less powerful so that it progresses into the heavy stuff. Also I think the chiptune bits would benefit from more modulation and effects, as it sounds a little too similar to the original track at times. Aside from those small things, this track is really awesome, great job!
  8. Sounds like a good basis so far, but I think this one has a bit to go before you submit it. The things I would pick out initially are that since it's Techno, the kick should have a lot more power to it (in my opinion at least). Sounds like a very dance-y sort of tune, so seek out some kick drum samples with a better bass, the one you're using right now has a good medium section but the low-end is almost nonexistent. I would generally suggest different drum samples, perhaps from some free packs on LoopMasters and the like. The synths all sound pretty good, maybe some cleaning up and EQing and if it were me, a few automation clips throughout the song to vary how the leads sound and give a sense of progression. Aside from that, it sounds pretty good so far, I like the arrangement and it has a lot of potential
  9. Changed some things around, tweaked a lot of the volumes and EQs, added and removed some things, let me know what you think! WIP Sample Version 2
  10. Thanks for your kind words and encouragement! I've so far added a real buildup, altered the melody's string instrument for now as well as the synth behind it, greatly filtered, eq'd, and modified the lead bass on the drop, and started to work out some unique bits for the later bass segments. You have a good ear, timaeus, that choir is a FLStudio default but it's not supposed to sound like a real choir at all. I want it default because I believe that ties it to the cheesiness of the original track and the simpler sound design. I might alter it a bit, but for the most part it's the effect I'm going for at the moment. As for the glitching, I've always considered "Glitch-Hop" to just be funky Electronic music at around 100-110bpm, such as artists like OPIUO and KOAN Sound, and don't often think of it as actual glitchy music. I may add some in, but perhaps I'm just labeling it wrong for now lol Chiwalker, I'll try out some of that stuff for my bass lead to see how big I can get it without being overbearing, thanks for the tips!
  11. I like what you've got here! During the break, those super reverb-y vocal samples sound a bit off tune, and the final drop area I think there's too much going on with the main instrument and it muddies up the melody just a bit. Aside from that it was an enjoyable listen
  12. Thanks for all the tips! I tried a few of them out and they're sounding much better so far, especially on the kick. I have a pack of Drum and Bass kicks that are typically louder on the higher channels, so I layered that over the one I had and EQ'd them to each hold their own spot, sounds more full that before. As for the Dulcimer, it's literally a default sample from FLStudio, and a placeholder until I can find a good VST for ethnic-sounding instruments to take its place
  13. Agreed that the chimes are pretty loud, not song-killing but they could be a bit quieter. I found it interesting that although it's very recognizable as Phendrana Drifts, it also very much reminds me of the style of the original Halo OST. Anything I picked up on was minor at most, I'd say you have a pretty solid track on your hands
  14. So I've been fiddling around with this concept for a few weeks, making slow and deliberate progress on a track that may have a spot in a DK64 OCRemix album sometime in the distant future. Nearing the end of this, I've worked a lot and for possibly too long on this one track. I feel like the only way to progress is to do what you can and move on to learn more things, so I won't be spending my life tweaking this to perfection. HERE is the current version: Sandstone Thanks in advance fellow Remixers
  15. That transition weirded me out a little bit lol I liked most of the song, that middle section might've been a bit too far "out there" for my tastes, and personally I felt it didn't flow the feeling of the song very well, but I enjoyed it because of the live-performance of it and thought overall it doesn't make the remix a bad one. Great job, very unique, would love to hear more
  16. I'm interested, but I'm also curious as to what this will be for?
  17. The section that started after about 1:22 sounds pretty good, I think the design on the instruments could use some tightening up to make the track feel more connected. A lot of it sounds like the bassline and the melody aren't joined together. The part at about 2:20 sounds very cohesive, nice use of sub bass to bring it together. After that the song is pretty good, I just think your main working point should be making the sounds build off of each other a bit more. Great job overall
  18. Not planning on going, unfortunately :l I am however making progress on a rough cut of my song, so that's good news
  19. Sorry for taking forever, I'm also working on a DK64 remix at the moment so I'm switching back and forth. I have a good body of the song so far, I just want to give it a decent intro/bridge/outro and I'll post what I have tomorrow or hopefully tonight EDIT: Didn't get as much done as I wanted, but here's a super rough version: LINK Let me know what you think, it's still unmixed and the instruments are all unfinished lol but it's something :T
  20. Thanks much for the direction on finding Drum samples, I downloaded some free bits and purchased a DnB pack from Loopmasters, it's working out great so far! :D

  21. Hey guys! Most of the music I produce is modern electronic, be it Dubstep, Electro, Glitch-Hop (my favorite) or other stuff. I recently realized I've been in a rut for over a year now, my typical Kick and Snare samples are the same in almost everything I make and I need to move away from them. Right now I take a lot of Drum sounds from the Lucid Samples Top Club Drums pack. I love how much punch everything has. The kicks hit hard and the snares have a nice bite to them. I'm looking for good drum-packs for use in heavy electronic production. Anything to spice up my production and variate from my norms. If you want a good example of what I'm looking for, this track has a ton of fantastic drums in it: http://youtu.be/7kgIDdWwxUg The whole thing is great, 4-5 different Snares are used and the Kicks are clean and solid. Bonus points for anybody who has something like the Snares at 1:54 and 2:14, those are my favorite! Free is preferred, but not required lol Edit: Should've looked a bit closer, there's a thread for sample searching. Sorry about that .-.
  22. If could be so bold, can I claim Angry Aztec's Level Theme without a current WIP? I would go for the Frantic Factory but it's already taken :l Anyways, I have plans for an electronic-funk take on the Aztec!
  23. As a producer and lover of heavy and energetic musics, I'd be totally interested in this idea. I feel instead of Boss themes, just go for the darkness themes altogether? I'll keep watch on this thread, interested to see what the tracklist may be!
  24. Trying something out using the 3rd theme, it's very short so there's not much to work with but that also allows for a lot of fancy stuffs. I'll update if I come up with a full track!
  25. Sounds fantastic! My one critique would be that a few of the transitions between songs are abrupt. The one between Song of Storms and Song of Time is beautiful and flows so well, but a few others fall short of that. All in all, though, killer track! Loved it
