  1. As long as people still play Counter Strike PC gaming will not be dead for me.
  2. oooooooooooooooooooooooooh, this is sounding a lot better. I like that you messed with the sax to make it sound more lo-fi. Before it had this kind of "in between" (as far as sound quality goes) sound that was a little distracting. the drums feel a lot better. the velocities on the cymbal hits sound a little too intense for me, but i'm on shitty phones right now so i'll need to listen on monitors to get a more accurate impression.
  3. *masochism joke* also, my mixes are fair game, young squire.
  4. lemme just contribute to the thread derail here: @Harmony: it doesn't bother me that stores that walmart succeed because they have a large infastructure, more products, and/or lower prices. it bothers me when said corporations get huge tax breaks / a cut of the local sales tax to move in. that gives them a HUGE advantage over local small businesses. wish i had some good citations, but all i have to offer is an interview withttp://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4807184h greg leroy on NPR:

  7. it was a terry gilliam film. that guy has the worst luck (if you don't know what i'm talking about, watch "lost in la mancha")
  8. Yet we critique people's performances on solos that have nothing to do with the original either. I never said we had to make a big deal out of it either, just let that play a role in how we vote. If Brad had made the lyrics a lengthy tribute to statutory anal rape, i'm sure that we wouldn't ignore *that* would we?
  9. Just to clarify my vote a little: I don't particularly like this, but it's well arranged (the backing vocal harmonies are intelligent and interpretive) and I can hear all the parts without much trouble. The mixing (especially on the lead) is admittedly weaker than it could be. However, I don't know what kind of production polish you guys are looking for with an a capella arrangement. It works as far as i'm concerned. I disagree. We constantly critique everything else on that list, so I see absolutely no problem with us basing part of our votes on lyrical quality. Brad, these lyrics are terrible. They don't even sound intentionally bad, just like you scribbled them down on a post-it note in 3 minutes. I need to think about this a little more, but for now my YES vote stands.
  10. FINALLY! Let me tell you, there was a LOT of speculation on these boards about when your debut album Get Equipped would FINALLY be released. What a wild ride it's been. Whew.
  11. Something for your notes. acoustic guitar = real guitar electric guitar = real guitar You know, cuz they're real.
  12. e-guitar stands for "electric guitar". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_guitar friggin idiot.

  16. -Then they draped a net over me, and called me prince valient, and said i had a dumb, fakey religion... -This always happens to me! some aztec guy throws me out a window, tells me i'm pumaman, then leaves -Ah yes, the goal of every superhero: to be left alone.

  18. I was a little more amped on this than Larry. There are a lot of very cool ideas and textures in this remix. However, for every effective texture, there was probably 3 others that didn't work. Basically, this is like taking an ice cream sundae and pouring carrots, salsa, peanuts, cottage cheese, and barbecue sauce all over it. It's just too much. The abrupt change at 2:59 was also pretty wtf. You could've ended the whole song right there and it would've felt right. Definitely a case of over staying your welcome. My advice would be to just pick a couple ideas, focus on those, and make the overall remix a little more unified and concise. Though the intro was a bit abrasive, I like the concept. Maybe soften the edge on those drums a little bit.I really like that first chiptune segue, and the part with the koto(?), the backing piano, and the hand percussion is killer. Don't get discouraged. I thought this was pretty good, and it reminded me a lot of the way some Toronto based indie groups like Broken Social Scene combine a lot of different textures to create a unique soundscape. You've just got too much going on that doesn't work. NO, RESUBMIT

  20. rhodesbias. Seriously though, you are a very good songwriter Mattias. We get so many submissions these days from people who don't seem to know what makes music worth listening to. You always put together an intelligent rhythm section, always pay attention to genre conventions (at least those that need to be followed), always have a deliberate shape to your arrangement, always create diverse, interesting melodies, and always make sure that things never plod on the harmonic end. This is very good work. Some day, through either mind control or intimidation, I will get you to make a mix devoid of cheesy synth leads. And I will dance. YES
  21. it is logically impossible to ruin speed racer. if it was the most campy, horrible movie released in the last 20 years, it'd still be a lateral move. also, i don't wanna spoil it for you, but racer x is speed's older brother.
