  1. Thank gosh the mixes are due MIDNIGHT ON SATURDAY, JUNE 4th or I'd be in some serious trouble. Some technical difficulties resulted in botched tracks.
  2. I did end up getting a chance to make something, but my electric guitar strings are completely rusted. Dunno if I'll be able to find a fresh pack. It'd probably hurt to play solos on these.
  3. I feel bad for Alesis. Earlier this year they told me they don't make new drivers for an OS for like 2 or 3 years and they literally just now have an almost-dependable Windows 7 driver. Now Windows 8 is going to come out and everyone will be yelling at them to produce a Win8 driver. But yeah, I'm with djp, I really don't need to upgrade Win7 unless it's very substantial.
  4. Machine-gun drumming? Is that referring to the double bass or the blastbeats? Hehe and now there's a tommy gun snare.. what is this, The Godfather? Justin's probably my favorite newcoming artist. Sure, metal bias, but also you don't hear metal like this in the remixing world, and definitely not on OCR. This song is a treat and I'm overjoyed to see it up here now. Word to your mother: http://www.myspace.com/knightoftheroundmetal
  5. I gotta state songs I'm aware of here.. Of course Fishy's which I think he recently (funfortunately) shortened is now what, 10:32 or so I think he said. My collab with mithius is 10:00. I think Prince of Darkness's Prancing Dad is 11:41 or so. There's a couple things in common with these tracks; first that they're all over 10 minutes. Secondly, that I believe they're all worthy of being posted and are cohesive. As mentioned before a 10 minute song at 192kbps would probably be around 15mb. So a 12 minute song would be what, around 18mb? In the interest of quality I think the 20mb limit would be perfectly reasonable.
  6. Potential OCR Meetup We all love Opeth. They'll be playing at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio on September 26th (6 days after the release of Heritage and 2 days before my birthday). My sister used to live in this town and I've seen Opeth at this same venue before. So I can attest that it's a nice place, we could all meet up there and enjoy a good show of Opeth. As for lodging, I have no idea about that but we'd probably all need to get hotel rooms or somethin. (Someone with more experience let me know how this works) It's not a bad drive for east coasters. It's about 3 hours from me, which means maybe 8 hours from Arlington.. I know there's a LOT of people nestled in this area. It'd be a small trek but totally worth it. EDIT: Oh yeah, Katatonia will be there too.
  7. And I don't know if YOU guys are having this issue with recording, but...... fans? air conditioners? Man, it got loud all of a sudden, didn't it?
  8. I like suzumebachi's piece the most so far... This is a great opportunity for whoever is capable of doing it. Seems a little tough for me, not so good at drawing people yet. Good luck to whoever takes this on though.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cnQCk0u49w But really, the song's parts are learned and in my head, it's just a matter of whether I get a chance to record them today / tomorrow.
  10. You try making a song with this sitting 5 feet away, telling some of the most hilarious quotes ever. It talked nonstop for the last 2 hours. I got up at 5am thinking I could make a song, but nooooo.
  11. Apparently it went back up today but the "welcome back" package isn't on yet, so no point to really open it yet. :/
  12. I thought about this last night and I think it'd be cool if OCR "gets with the times" so to speak. The submission guidelines actually still list 128kbps as the minimum -- true story. I haven't downloaded a 128kbps mp3 since Limewire in the early 2000s. The internet standard for mp3s is closer to 192kbps now, although anyone who is really serious (read: an audiophile) about music downloads 320kbps. Just ask anyone who uses bandcamp. I know people who regularly download the FLACs from there. In the early and even mid 2000s I think an 8mb limit would have been a decent idea, the site was still growing and people didn't take music quality as seriously back then. Probably because we were still slapping music on cassette tapes because our used cars were from the early 90s. Now our used cars are from the early 2000s and I think the quality of our digital music should reflect that. It's the basic evolution of the digital format
  13. Size limit = 20mb. That would accommodate most serious prog musicians while still keeping poopy 45-minute megaman mega-mixes out of the equation. Accommodating prog at ocr is a SERIOUS ISSUE. Sure, it still wouldn't be enough for a Transatlantic-style piece (and I don't think the panel could comprehend or tolerate a piece of that length / epicness anyway) Also.. The easy way to estimate: 1MB per minute at 128Kbps 1.5MB per minute at 192Kbps So a 5 minute song "might" be 7.5mb at 192kbps
  14. i'm surprised they didnt no it out of SPITE Looking forward 2 ur album coming out in June
  15. The people who still ain't done should feel ashamed.
  16. this was actually my first thought before I even entered the thread
  17. Oh yeah yeah, also spilled spot remover on my dog, now it's gone very funny
  18. no but this minecraft ripoff inspired me to open minecraft once more
  19. I'm guessing Minecraft still works for everyone else... :/ For me it shows the Mojang logo, then it shows the brick background for about 10 seconds, then goes completely black and doesn't do anything else. editz: completely deleted it and reinstalled and it warks :/
  20. oh daw i'm about to start sensationalizing up in here
  21. if it becomes another indie game with electronica soundtrack, i will devote my life to discrediting it and you
