You can find people for both of those -- guitars and sound design -- in recruitment forums... someone would probably help you there.. -

That's a tough question. How I would do it isn't necessarily what appeals to you as a musician. I personally hear this source as a dubstep remix. It could also potentially work as a western-style remix. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hYV-JSjpyU I'd recommend just thinking of generally what style you're going for and choosing something that fits. And to say the least, there's a bajillion synth VSTs out there with tons of presets and the ability to make your own. You could really go nuts. You could slap some nice pads on there or take a different approach. I wasn't saying you were off by using guitar sounds, it's just the quality of the sample that is an issue. -
If there's one thing I've learned about you recently CJ, it's that you have pretty good taste in classic games. The synth choices as a whole are pretty basic. You need a much stronger bass synth (or dare I say, bass guitar?) The thing I'm assuming people were referring to as the guitars... the midi things? There's a LOT of people you could probably get to play guitar for you. Try the recruitment forum! That would help fill out the soundscape a good bit. The sequencing is very mechanical, and the source interpretation seems to be pretty conservative.. You should try some things to make it your own. Of course having live guitars could help with that. The synths would probably still be noticeable even if you had live guitars, but then you'd be able to say, "Oh that's intentional, this is inspired by 80s rock." You might even get away with it. *shrug* The synths are pretty dry. I'm not saying to smother them with reverb and delay, but tasteful usage of reverb and delay can help a lot. The main thing though is trying to get the soundscape filled out for the most-part, and making the sequencing less mechanical. Fiddle with those velocities! tl;dr Consider choosing more modern synths, apply effects where needed, get some live guitars, add velocities and other humanizing aspects to the sequencing..

Midi clean electric guitar... It's too obvious and won't fly. Also that other loud midi guitar sound you have that comes in 0:56 is obvious. I can hear and recognize them as MIDI quality sounds and that typically doesn't fly around here.. They're particularly dry which doesn't help, but that's another story. For a really basic type source like this, you really want to go huge with the drums, and create a hard-hitting and flowing beat. That static kick-based drumline you have going on isn't cutting it. That louder lead midi guitar begins drowning everything out. You've got some fancy reverse-crashes but the high-end is practically empty most of the time.. Very irregular use of snare.. It works contextually based on the source but for a remix, you're going to need to "amp" things up so to speak. Toss in some pads, lose the midi guitar things, and give a lot more strength to the drums and bass synth. Get more creative with the interpretation and slap in more variation. -
I use Alicia's Keys which I think sounds the most realistic, but the tone you get with it is kinda limited. Like a specific type of somewhat soft Grand Piano tone. It's pretty nice though and I've been using it on everything. :3 This soundfont actually isn't too bad, but this as a whole would probably sound a lot better with a cleaner library. I like the heavier bit, but there's a ton of body/low-end in there that seems unusual for solo piano. This is also fairly skimpy on reverb-usage. I have a feeling if you put reverb on here, however, with how strong the lower-mids are in the heavy sections, it would be disastrous. Might be good to tastefully slice out some of the low/mids.. maybe around 500-800Hz and see what happens, that's a guesstimate. And maybe highpass to around 100Hz or so. The performance is amazing, probably something I'd never be able to do with solo piano. You're spot on there, and I can't wait to hear what you do with this one. Glad to see you trying to get on OCR again, it's been too many years.

You ripped off Equilibrium and that lead is horrible. For reference for anyone not familiar with Equilibrium: I guess I might as well give you some feedback though if you're going to choose to continue with this thing. I'd say chop about 3 minutes off of it, most definitely the Equilibrium song that you've recreated about 80% of here. Take ALL of that out. Apart from that, I'd say the melodies from Matoya's Cave are recognizable for two very brief moments. This wouldn't pass purely based on source usage, even if you cut everything BUT the source usage you'd end up with about 20 seconds worth of song left. :/ I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but this thing needs a complete overhaul, from the ground up. Apart from that, the sound quality wasn't very good -- heavy rhythms are typically hardpanned with 2 tracks instead of just 1. Sometimes more. Listen to the Equilibrium song you ripped off and use it as an example of how metal production should be. Because everything's mono and just jammed together into one spot and covered with reverb, it sounds extremely muddy. I wouldn't recommend trying to put a limiter on this to get loudness. The bigger issue is cleaning up your recording, finishing your recording, and.... well... like I said you do need to start from the ground up. You can slap a small riff from a song as an homage from time to time but don't sample a whole friggin' song in your remix.

Going from cyan to blue feels sexy. SEXY. Also I noticed you put "just gimme the wav already" next to my other claim.... gimme a couple days to remake a large portion of the song and you got yourself a deal. -
Yeah people should stop judging stuff by how much money it makes, then the world would realize Death Metal is the best and only worthwhile genre of music

They only have 2 pictures of me as a child, and one of them is me crying on a quilt, and the other is a cheesy store photo for Christmas or something like they used to do back then. My parents weren't that enthusiastic about having baby, that's why my initials are B.S. Good luck to anyone else tho -
I DO NOT AGREE. ANYONE WHO COVERS THE BEATLES DESERVES NOTHING SHORT OF IMMENSE PAIN. You all have been warned. WARNED!!11

no remix of final fantasy 2 magicians tower?
Brandon Strader replied to RowdyRego's topic in ReMix Requests
I wouldn't go as far as to call it a remix, it's more of a remake. There's some Magician's Tower in this: But why, it is not explained... Almost every other song is from FF1 -

1) Wrong forum. Remix Requests for that kind of stuff. 2) http://theshizz.org/forum/index.php?/topic/35452-final-fantasy-2-project/ 3) blackguitar is amazing. http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02029/ 4) I agree. -
A mostly trance Final Fantasy X album would be lame anyways... Just saiyan, as someone who loves FFX a lot.
