Gave the England track a listen and couldn't think of what to make of it, then I listened to "maybe we should stick to football"... and I guess that's pretty much as good as it gets. The drums are a little too obviously fake, but other than that...

OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
Dafydd replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
This is also true for Duke Nukem 3D. There were two composers and they each did about half of the music for the game. I don't know if the site software has support for that kind of data though. I didn't see it, and there's been no news about it either, but yeah, it's there and it seems to work. I have nothing further right now though. A lot of the issues mentioned here haven't been fixed yet though, and DJP probably would be better informed about them if they were mentioned again in that sub-forum. I'm sure it'll fill up with new stuff eventually though. -
I feel the same way about... projects I've started myself not knowing how much time would spent/wasted on it. I'm not saying you should give up on it at all, I was just surprised to see that so little progress had been made since last time I considered helping out. And like then, lack of time is all that holds me back. That and the general experience I have of projects, started by me or by others, being a lot less positive than I would wish. I didn't notice the disclaimer in the first post until now. Too bad these people didn't help you out instead. I don't know if they joined Mustin's project because they were his friends or because Mustin's sort of a celebrity when it comes to these things, but it still sucks they turned you down and not him. For shame, as they say. EDIT: Haha, Kazuo Sawa also made the music for Nintendo World Cup. I thought I recognized the style. NWC's soundtrack sounds more professional though, I think, and it was made later too, so I guess that's why.

My, this still isn't finished?

Warcraft 2 'Human Battle 1' - v2 (Oct 9)
Dafydd replied to Dafydd's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
So, is there anyone here who could help with some speech for the midsection of the song? I'm thinking a rap made from the in-game speech, time-stretched and scratched to get in tempo. I would also like to have the same thing done to the "your soundcard works perfectly" in the intro (the way I did it isn't in tempo but I'm sure it would work great if it was). Like "Your soundcard wickidee-works wickidee-perfectly" or similar. Isn't there a scratch machine in FL? I'd really appreciate any attempts at this by anyone. I'll upload the sample and update this post with a link to it as soon as I get my computer plugged in again (probably later today). EDIT: Silly me. Oh well, here it is: www.ngst.nu/soundcard.wav -
It's right here on the site. I don't know if I'm allowed to tell you where exactly, but you'll probably figure it out soon enough anyway. Otherwise, ask Larry. And ask him to whip Dave a little for me, will ya?

Thank you. I'm thinking of a new title for the remix. How d'y'all like "Cyborc" or variations thereof? -
OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues

Well, unless not having the little house logo along with the yahoo, msn and aim ones was intentional, or vB, for whatever absurd reason, doesn't allow for this kind of feature, I'd say this is just another example of how this site would be better off with a secondary sub-webmaster who could help DJP with doing mundane website/forum related tasks. Like this. -

Now that's a compliment. Sorry for the lack of progress since version 2 - I really wish I had more time to work on it, but it's going to have to wait a while longer... -

Didn't we use to have that with the phpBB forum? -
Heh. Well, I guess that just goes to show that not all judges work their way from the bottom of the pile (OR, this one has generated some discussion, requiring more than 4 judges to vote on it, and since only about 4 judges are active on the panel...). June is a really long time ago though!

OCR01773 - Banjo-Kazooie "Malevolent Mansion"

Sweet. This mix is a lot of fun, and it sounds really good. Would definitely fit well into an actual game, too. -

Awesome. 1010char -
Can I ask how long it took until you got it judged, that is, when did you submit it?

That's odd. They have catalog numbers, and those seem to be correct. -

Haha, this is great! I never heard the source material, but this sounds really pro. -
I personally like to have a solid bass to hold on to, but that's just me. The bass is not only everywhere (which is really cool), but it's also a bit weak compared to the rest. 1:45-1:50 seemed to have slight timing issues. 2:20 and around there was a little messy. At 2:40 things didn't really feel like they were in tune. In general, I think this could use some tightening and beefing up, especially in the lower frequencies, but that's me.

And the most recent "yes" got its last vote in July. Some judges haven't voted since, some only once or twice (except for in submissions still on the panel, which I know nothing about). Well, 3 judges is all you need to make a "no", so I guess the fact that most of you are taking a break doesn't really matter much. You missed the comma between larry and palpable a few times. It actually looks pretty funny. Like a name. "Here he is, the amazing Larry Palpable!" It actually gets even funnier in reverse order. Also funny is the fact that all of the yes'ed mixes needed so many votes. None of these apparently good enough to be liked by everyone.

Some remixes are labeled right away, but it's not common. I think it has something to do with the fact that the source material isn't labeled very well in the first place, especially if it's an NSF or other chiptune. Most SPCs have names but they're often given by the ripper, and so the song names are not official, and even though they often fit or give a good description of where in the song they play, it's not good enough for OCR. I don't know what the current policy is, if sound test names are good enough or not. I tried to help labeling the Top Gear remixes, and I actually contacted the original composer and asked him for song names, but all he could tell me was that he never named them, so he had no answer to give me. I think LT&Co is working on an official policy for labeling source tunes that have no name, but until they're finished...

True. The smileys sidebar is still a mess, however. -
This is really sweet. Too bad it wasn't a mix of a track wasn't covered already. What are the voices saying? See you in the foobar Or maybe not...

How were these videos captured anyway? I'd like to see some details on phasing - that is, how you manage to get phasers synced and at the frequency you want them to be at any given time. I really like phasers but using them without having any control over them makes everything sound really cheap instead of high-tech and cool. Also more details on how to make things sound louder without actually making them so, as well as the arcane arts of making every instrument audiable at all times (which would probably require an entire encyclopedia to go though all of, but any info would be helpful here).

About time! Also nice to see some of this type of music get passed by the panel, even though I didn't think the mix was all too interesting myself.
