You crap all over a shitty american car, and suggest in it's place...... even shittier american cars? riiiiiiiiiiiight. What are you, 13? Anyways, I wouldn't do it. 80k is a lot of milage for a 2003, someone drove the hell out of that thing. I'd even go so far as saying it's overpriced considering it's an automatic V6. kelly blue book can lick my balls, all the suggested price does is give dealerships an excuse to bend you over. To put it into perspective, a few years ago my dad bought a '94 Suburban 1500, 4WD, 350 V8 automatic with the luxury package, just under 50k original miles, for $4500. That truck is amazing. But then again, we are frugal bastards. If you're fine spending that much money on a car that won't last you more than two years, go for it.

This guy ripped MIDIs with pirated samples, and profitted

No offense, but what exactly do you plan to do? The MIDI authors can't sue him, since the music in question doesn't belong to them either. I read that leinatorz guy's log, and his idea of copyright law is WAY off base. I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. We technically don't own the arrangements hosted here on OCR, R:TS, and VGMix. In order to sell them would require licensing from the original owners (usually the game companies, but in same cases the composers) which is difficult to obtain. In fact if SquareSoft or Nintendo wanted to sue us, they could. And they would probably win. But they won't, for the same reason they don't sue fan artists-- mostly because it would greatly alienate their fanbase and would be very bad for publicity should the news spread. They know we do it out of love. Now don't get me wrong, I do not condone what this guy is accused of in any way (though it would be hypocritical of me not to note that I have been guilty of it in the past... the very distant past). At R:TS we are much more lax about quality issues and standards, but even so, we simply will NOT allow MIDI rips. The same holds true for OCR and VGMix. I'm not aprised of the details of the issue, but unfortunately it seems that this guy is operating in a gray area. His revenue apparently comes only from donations, thus he's not directly selling the songs. Therefore you can't really make the case that he's selling works that aren't his own for profit. There's not much you can do in this case but call the guy a big flaming stupid head, shun him, and go about your business. -
True, but that doesn't eliminate the panning problems. Also, I forgot to mention this, but Slayer sucks massive cocks. You're much better off using some decent free guitar soundfonts.

If you have the CPU power, I suggest using multiple instances of Guitar Rig rather than using it as a send. For two reasons. 1) Guitar Rig (I'm assuming we're talking about GR2), much like a real guitar amp, sounds like total balls when you have multiple things running through it (keep in mind you won't be able to pan the individual instruments should you do this, and phasing will be an issue). 2) When you use it as a send, the original signal will remain in the mix and run parallel to the GR signal, creating a muddy mess. It is MUCH better to use it as an insert. Kanthos is right about using it as an instrument though-- don't.

That's why I like John Mayer. ...Yes I like John Mayer. Fucking sue me. Also, didn't Michael Jackson write a lot of his songs?

1) Male. Clearly (see the ugly dude with the grody fumanchu in my sig? yeah that's me). 2) Umm... I honestly don't know who I sound like. I don't listen to a lot of mainstream musics. 3)Ahem... yes (though I honestly wasn't trying very hard-- plus I don't really know my range yet, I've literally been singing for 2 days).

So, anybody got any tips for someone who's just starting out as a really terrible singer? I think I've got potential, but to give you an idea of how clueless I am, I don't even know if I'm like a bass or soprano or... whatever. But I have patience, and access to mics and gears, and a brain overflowing with infinity terrible song ideas. Halp. I need somebody. Halp. Not just anyb

The bash tower hits like a flipping truck when it's upgraded though, and is extremely effective against groups and spawns. I have yet to make it past level 36 or so though, I keep getting eaten alive by the flying dudes. -

The means of live performance
suzumebachi replied to The Pezman's topic in Music Composition & Production
You intend to be doing this live, I'm assuming? If that's the case, you're going to need more than your basic onboard laptop sound card. The onboard cards generally do not support ASIO, and as a result have some nasty latency that will quickly put the kaibosh on your gigging. For a laptop, you'll need a PCMCIA audio card with ASIO drivers at the very minimum. An EMU 1616M may do the trick, but they are pretty pricey. An Echo Indigo IO might also work, however I've heard that they have some PCI latency issues, so that may not work so well either. There are some USB audio interfaces as well, however those often have even higher latency than onboard sound cards. You may be better off using a desktop computer in the long run, and picking up something like an EMU 0404. -
Less bitching, more hooking brotha up with scripts.
