  1. @Starphoenix -- Damn, son. That is some pretty solid mix you're producing for this album. Can't wait to hear the final version!
  2. It's pretty much a cover just now -- more than it is a remix -- but if you find someone with good hard-rock/metal knowledge and skills, I'm sure he's gonna help turn this into a kickass arrangement. What I'd do if I were would be to explore the guitar riffs composition further to have a sequence that sounds more 'realistic' and solid even thought you uses a pretty synthetic instrument. Such games as 'Thunder Force IV' did a great job as to make insanely advanced riff compos despite the limitation of the system -- check Lightning Strikes Again or Stand Up Against Myself for instance. That could just be me, but I was a drummer, I know I could clearly mess around with the drums SO bad and have a blast with it -- it's a little too nice and gentle to my taste as of now and could benefit from going real wild. Check Tsukumo-san's work and you'll know what I mean -- Legendary Wings is a good example. All three of these tracks you can find good MIDI versions of on VGMusic.com if you want to study their composition in a more convenient way
  3. Love that guitar -- reminds me of these 90s TV series I used to watch when I was younger :3 I guess this intro in general really fits Aqua. I'd probably introduce lower pads near the end/during the second half of this part to give a heavier and darker atmosphere to the section. Also, making the arpeggio a bit louder each time it 'resurfaces' could help in that regard and adding a pan delay to it might sound nice too. I guess some reverbed bass drums or some sort wouldn't be a bad idea either. This should help make this part less repetitive to me. Vivement la suite
  4. Yay! A fellow comrade from France Very interesting take on 'Corneria.' Perhaps a bit too repetitive -- new lead compos, a bridge and a more intense final part could fix that -- but I guess that's a problem I have with most covers out there. Nevertheless, it's pretty inspiring! If you're into Star Fox music, maybe you'd like to take a look at the Lylat System CLEAR: A Star Fox 20th Anniversary Tribute Album project we are currently working on -- we're still looking for remixers and performers are very welcome
  5. Glad to see you're joining the party, Hank! I really hope someone will write something up for you -- I can't get enough of your sax performances :3
  6. Sounds good to me -- always willing to help When you say 'Electric Bass,' does that mean you can provide some Slap Bass perfomance? 'Cause I know I'll be looking for live slap recordings for Corneria.
  7. This is it -- today is officially the 20th Anniversary of the Tomb Raider franchise. To celebrate, here's a rock ballad mix I've worked on since the very beginning of the year as a tribute to one of my all-time favorite video game franchises. HUGE thanks to @That Headband Guy, @mattmatrice and @IplaiGames for joining me on this project and making this track even more awesome with their perfomances, arrangements, mixing and mastering. And VERY special thanks to Eilaire (http://eilaire.deviantart.com/) for letting us use one of her cosplay pictures for visual support -- truly one of the most talented Lara Croft cosplayers out there. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOMB RAIDER!!
  8. Oh, my... seriously? Is it Christmas already? So excited to read this news -- I can't wait to hear what he'll come up with! Also... now the pressure is real ^^' That's okay. Do your thing and don't forget that if you need any help or assistance... you have my mail I'm very curious about this too -- haven't I told you Queen is one of my favorite bands of all time <3 ?
  9. I find myself going around in circles with my current WIP actually -- it basically means I went as far as I could arrangement-wise for an orchestra piece (which is probably the one music genre I'm the less familiar and comfortable with). I'm gonna start hunting down a remixer with a good understanding of orchestra composition to collab with so he can help me out but if someone out there feels like he is the man of the situation and is interested, please contact me :3
  10. I do not want to claim Rino's track -- just ask if she needs some help on that one too. I actually downloaded a MIDI of 'SF2 Record' this afternoon to mess around with... maybe too much... to the point I tried to get some kind of descent progression so we can focus on the more interesting stuff from there. It is mostly inspired by the ideas Rino had for her original WIP, but, if she's okay with it, we can use this as a basis and work altogether on that one too: http://www.mediafire.com/file/nc0ryoljc2cb2p5/SF2+Record+--+Progression+Research.zip
  11. @TheChargingRhino -- I don't know about 'Staff Roll,' but I'd be curious to see what we could come up with your WIP of 'Corneria Has Fallen...But There is Still Hope (Star Fox 2 "Records 1"/SF64 "Select" Mix.' I though maybe doing something similar to Hyakutaro Tukumo's 'The Longest Voyage' (http://66.90.91.26/ost/technosoft-game-music-collection-vol.-7-reincarnation/slfgrtmczf/17-the-longest-voyage.mp3) could be great as it would be a nice way to showcase your piano skills and allow me to explore guitar composition further. Again, I will need a MIDI of your track to start working on it. What do you think?
  12. I think a Corneria collaboration is the best way to go. Great idea! @TheChargingRhino -- Really like the ideas you have for that (first) Corneria mix. However, just like The 'Boss' Nikanoru said, there's still quite a lot to do. I'd be very glad to help you on that one actually, since it's already pretty inspiring -- throw a couple more ideas in this WIP. I could even manage to get proper guitar recordings too! @The Nikanoru -- Haven't thought of a name just yet. I usually give my mixes a name when they're close to be finished. I'm experimenting stuff right now and would like to have a talk with you when I'll have another WIP ready so I can share my vision of where I want to go with this track and see if it could still have its place within this album. Also, it would be great to have a list of the performers available for collaboration in the first post -- near the current tracklist ^^
  13. Sounds good to me. Can I claim 'Inside Krazoa Palace' from Star Fox Adventures? :3
  14. Hello again, everyone! I'm currently arranging and fixing a couple of things on my old Vectorman mix before recording instruments and stuff and was wondering if anyone was interested in providing vocals (male or female) for it? The lyrics are available on SoundCloud and Youtube, so feel free to check them out. They were written by my good friend SuperSonication. Feedback is also very welcome and anyone else who wants to collaborate and re-work this piece with me is more than welcome -- for providing real instruments or arrangements purposes. Thanks in advance
  15. Finding a DAW that really suits you is important in my opinion. However, for a newcomer, it's pretty easy to get lost with all the FL Studio, Cubase, Reason, etc. Fortunately, they usually let you download free trails of their softwares before you start spending money on the full versions. Some of them also emulate MIDI keyboards on your computer one, so -- even though it's not as ergonomic as having a real one -- it still allows you to play simple melodies and chords for now. Once you have your DAW and figure out how it basically works, check out tutos and guides everywhere you can to make sure you can use all the ressources it offers you. One thing I'll also recommend doing (if you're more of a visual kinda guy and do not necessary have a very good ear yet) is trying to find MIDI versions of some of your favorite VGMs, import them on your DAW and take a look at how they were composed -- the structure, the melody, the counter-melodies, the chord progression, keys, etc. Since it's a track you enjoy, you'll feel more motivated to learn what it is that makes it so great to you and, as you study more and more tracks, figure out some 'rules' constantly repeat themselves and, before you know it, already will have better ideas of how music works. Learning an instrument is optional and you'll quickly learn everything you need to know about music theory all by yourself while messing around with your mixes. Just like any other art, the more you practice, the more you learn and you'll never stop never learning new stuff as you keep up making music.
  16. Decided to go for some kind of Pop-like style in the end. Tell me what you think of it before I start the recording session :3
  17. Nice find! Never heard this song before! Thanks for sharing! Though I'm almost done with the arrangements, I'll see if I can 'borrow' one or two ideas from this track. Thanks again!
  18. This is basically as far as I could get with this remix all by my own: If anyone wants to arrange this very sketchy WIP with me, I'll greatly appreciate -- especially since I can't think of any music style that might fit this mix better.
  19. Okay, so after I managed to find a way to play the lead melody of 'The Past' from 'Metal Gear: Ghost Babel' by ear, I started working on a remix. Unfortunately, the said melody is the only part of the song I was able to retranscribe and I'd like to add more elements of the original source to the mix. Since I couldn't find a MIDI anywhere, I was wondering if anyone here (with good ears) could help me sequence one I could use as reference for the mix. Source: Thankfully, it's neither a long piece nor a complicated track, so it shouldn't take too long... I guess ^^' Thanks in advance!
  20. That's a very solid remix you produced there! You definitely did a great job capturing everything that makes Disco so great -- these game SFX are a nice touch too -- while still managing to make the original source frequently recognizable! Bonus points for the dancing Mega Man ^^
  21. After I realized at least two other people already did a piano cover of this track, I decided to rework my remix and make a rock ballad out of it. Once again, it's not humanized, mixed and sound very MIDI. But if you're interested in helping me arrange and perform it, or simply give me feedbacks, I'll really appreciate Thanks in advance!
  22. I already hate myself for writing this, but I'm afraid I'll have to quit the project -- I don't manage to get anything interesting out of my WIP and the more I work on it the less I know where I am going. Really sorry to that but I think it'll be better for the album if someone more talented and inspired could take care of this opening track. I'll let my WIP available here anyway (http://www.mediafire.com/download/bbnyrnnqyo96m0j/Sonic+Medley.zip). Hopefully, it could at least help the one who'll take my place getting inspired for his own mix. Again, really sorry.
