  1. Oh that intro….what an excellent job hyping up the track. This is a very nice, mellow electronic jam. Everything just sounds so hypnotic, and mesmerizing. It’s a beautiful track to mellow our and relax to, AND a nice dance track that’s neither too slow or too fast. Perfect for just about any occasion if you’re into this genre.
  2. This is such a fun, energetic, and bouncy track. The organ work here is flawless, and for something that’s inspired by a track with volcano in its name, I am amazed at how “summer resort” it sounds. And I say that as a compliment Just for the record.
  3. Yay, an orchestrated mix where enough balancing is done to make the orchestra sound realistic. This is a wonderful mix. Everything works so well, and the story being told through the music is very compelling. I just wish this track wasn’t short. It’s a decent length, I just would have loved to have more of this.
  4. I was worried during the first minute and a half that this would be more of a performance of the track than an arrangement of the track. Then the guitar kicked in, and I started to hear a sense of differentiating identity within this track. The percussion work here is outstanding. Everything else is good, but man does the percussion work stand out in a great way.
  5. I only have one gripe. And that is that the beatboxing almost made me wish that this track included freestyle raps from each of the bears. But I think that’s more wishful thinking than anything else on my part. But I digress, this track is amazing. Everything sounds so catchy, energetic and fun. And the beatboxing is so incredible. From beginning to end, this track is simply incredible.
  6. Never has the Final Fantasy Prelude sounded so great. I would think that it’s tough to stretch the Final Fantasy prelude out by six freaking minutes. But this track manages to pull it off miraculously. If you want a more detailed insight on what I thought, just read Marmiduke’s review as I second everything stated from it.
  7. This is kind of an odd remix for me. The vocalized chorus don’t seem to blend with the beats, almost making them sound out of sync to me. The bass and percussion work is great, and some of the synth work here is pretty good too. Not all, but some. Production wise, it’s decent. But for my ears, I don’t see myself listening to this more than once. Although Rexy does have an interesting point on this track being good for Audiosurf.
  8. I feel like I’m listening to the audio of a short story about the dragons and the machines plotting their grand schemes for the world. Almost like it goes back and forth between the dragons perspective, and the machines perspective. You have to be in the right frame of mind to fully appreciate this track. But it’s so worth the time as everything about this track works so well. It’s so mysterious, creepy, dark, and even a bit beautiful.
  9. The original battle theme for Dracula is one of my all time favorite SNES tracks. So I had high expectations going into this track already. And man does this deliver. The original track was more ominous than anything else. This track retains that ominous feeling, but adds that “cinematic confrontation” vibe which not only creates more tension when thinking about Dracula, but creates a wonderful sense of drama that you’d expect in a final battle. Rarely do final battle themes sound as climactic as they do in this track, and I love it so much.
  10. As already stated, the roughness of this track is truly remarkable. But the track itself doesn’t really do anything for me. Maybe it’s the original source material, or the arrangement? I’m not sure, but it’s kind of hard to rock out to this, as the truly head bopping part starts near the end of the track, while the rest of the track seems more lounge rock. But even then I’m left waiting there, wondering when it’s time to rock. It’s decent though. Not great, but not terrible either.
  11. This is an amazing piano performance backed by amazing, melodic synth work. It’s so mysterious, and when the violin kicks in, the mood of the track becomes more somber. Then we have the strings build up to a more hopeful mood to counter the somber violin. This truly is an experience of different feelings being invoked through one track.
  12. This sounds like an arrangement that would appear in a Smash Bros game. It’s so energetic and rocking. It’s too bad that this track is so short. But again, I definitely get a Smash Bros. vibe out of this. So I can forgive the length (as well as the fade out ending).
  13. Maybe it’s just me, but it seemed like the intro was building up to something more exciting, only for it to get way more mellow throughout? But that’s all right, because there is a very distinct sound throughout the entire mix. I imagine this is what chilling down-time lounge music would sound like in the distant future. What I like most about the vocal work is how atmospheric it sounds given the mood that this track creates. Very lovely.
  14. It definitely is nice to hear psy-trance around here (or perhaps I’m not looking hard enough?). It’s really good, and makes your head want to pulse to the rhythm. The melody strikes me as a little fun, but then you get to the bridges, and you’re definitely in for a wild ride. Loved how the vocals were used.
  15. I didn’t really care for some of the strings in this track, but this is as tiny of a gripe as I could possibly have for this excellent track. The synth work here (99% of it) is spectacular, and I am absolutely amazed with the percussion and chiptune work in this track. One other gripe I do have though, a much bigger one, is the fade out ending. I didn’t really like it either, as I feel that with the amount of effort put into this track, there could have been some sort of ending added to it rather than just a fade. It doesn’t take away from how good and upbeat the track is though.
  16. I am totally digging the 80s sci-fi action vibe I get from this track. It did sound like the rock instruments weren’t as crucial as the track progressed. It seemed like way more emphasis was placed on the synth instruments after a little while. And I do agree with djpretzel that it does seem longer than 3:14 due to the sheer production behind it. For something that’s supposed to sound like synth rock, it could have been better, but it certainly could have been worse.
  17. I know an audio mixing program did this, but the way it’s edited, it really does sound like this is performed live by an actual orchestra. Everything from the panning, to the reverb sounds so convincing and realistic. I don’t know if it’s the program itself, or the masterclass skills of the remixer, or both, but this is a great arrangement of one of the best, most haunting tracks from Xenogears. Those last four notes; VERY chilling.
  18. So we go from Motown funk, to dubstep funk, to jazz funk (fusion jazz even?). I guess the dubstep parts represent what would happen if you fell into the lava you were sailing on? I do love how the vocal samples represented the beat dropping the second time. Great track all around.
  19. Why is this track at the bottom of the reviews thread? It needs to be further up. Much further up. This is an excellent homage to excellent music that is the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack. It’s electronic without forcing you to feel like you have to jam or dance to it, the orchestrated music manages to capture the spirit of the game, the flue performance is wonderful, the chiptunes add a sense of nostalgia without relying on just the chiptunes, and that ending was excellent. It didn’t feel like you were just adding another track to the medley. It was a very seamless transition that made for an excellent end to an excellent track.
  20. The synth melody is very lucky it had such amazing and wonderful background synth work to support it. Cause without such support, the main melody would sound a little grating to me. So reading the previous reviews, and the description of the track, this could be considered both “light hearted” and “a little spooky.” I would say it falls under the “mysterious and haunting” category. Not a bad track. Definitely unlike a lot of the electronic mixes I’ve heard.
  21. Electronic funk in a medevil-esq town. And I can see why people would make the “two tracks in one” comparison. And yeah it does sound like there is a genre switch midway through, or rather near the end. But the way it transitions to that last part is so smooth, it just evolves from the first part without the switch being super drastic. I just wish that second part wasn’t so short.
  22. Well this track certainly didn’t waste time with any build ups. It just wants to rock your brains out right out of the gates of Hell. What amazing solos this track has too. The piano part a little after the three minute mark was a little odd, but it was very brief, so I can forgive it. As djpretzel points out, this is unapologetically metal. I would be very inclined to agree with this statement.
  23. Great use of the xylophone in this track. The flute at the beginning of the latter half seemed a little soft, but once the strings started to compliment the flute, it wasn’t as bad. And that was quite a build up to the percussion/flute ending there. Overall, it was a nice track. Reminds me of a summer beach party.
  24. Very silly title for a track that is all around amazing. Loved the violin throughout, loved the acid-jazz portion from 1:09 to 1:24, everything worked to near-perfection with this arrangement.
  25. Great title. I loved the build ups from the chill moments to the fast paced moments of this track. There’s a lot of production value here. There’s enough variety to keep the track fresh as it progresses without that sense of mid-genre switches, or even switches to completely different arrangements. I disagree with Chernabogue when he says the ending was a bit abrupt. Abrupt endings are a peeve of mine, I’ll admit, but I felt the ending here was pretty seamless.
