  1. I need to submit more tracks to OCR from my backlog, but here's this one at least for now!
  2. My son is 3 and enjoys Super Mario Odyssey. We have been playing it on Assist mode and getting some good results, since it's fairly forgiving. My friend's 3-year-old likes Yoshi's Woolly World too. Both games should have settings that would make it a bit easier for little kids.
  3. I recently covered "Dance Through the Danger" from Shantae: Half-Genie Hero! I went for a mellow, acoustic treatment of the source. I sang, played the harp, hammered dulcimer, Irish bouzouki, percussion, and enlisted my husband for djembe and video editing. Hope you enjoy it!
  4. Yeah, it was definitely fun to sing because the melody has a lot of movement in an otherwise mellow song. Thank you both for taking the time to listen and provide feedback!
  5. Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks a lot! I think he did a great job too. And ahh, I can totally understand that, though - it's kind of a heavy show. I couldn't stop thinking about it after I finished the series for the first time. Sorry about the unintended effect! Whoops, I hope we didn't make it too sad for everybody... ^_^;
  6. I covered "Sis Puella Magica!" from the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica for An Overclocked Christmas Vol. XI. I recently made some tweaks, and along with a video my husband put together - which shows scenes from the anime - I uploaded the (hopefully) final version to YouTube. I arranged it in a folk style not unlike the original. So, I sang the vocals and played the harp, hammered dulcimer, Irish bouzouki, and recorder. I had fun arranging this song and I think the video is very fitting, so I thought I would share this improved version. Enjoy.
  7. I might need to take Mazedude's excellent advice. I especially relate because I also have a family and a full-time job, so my only time to work on music is at night (usually after 8-9 PM) and pockets of time on the weekends. So, I've been doing the opposite - staying up late. And it works okay, because I am generally NOT an early riser. However, I think it could be worth a shot to see if I feel more energized and productive by getting up earlier as opposed to staying up until after midnight. The whole idea of finishing something I've started as opposed to cycling through different projects without completing anything is something I've been continuously working on, and something I really was never any good at until well into adulthood. Interestingly enough (and this is just how it worked out for me), taking a break from music for a few years and raising my son has actually re-energized me, so I'm a much more disciplined and focused person than I ever was before. So while I have less time than I used to for noodling around on instruments or working on projects, I'm much more efficient and productive with the time I do have. I finally figured out that the joy of finishing a project helps carry me through the day-to-day challenges of actually keeping my commitments and doing the not-so-fun stuff sometimes. It's a wonderful feeling!
  8. Yeah, I'm hoping to submit my mix too. It'll be my first official submission! I can't wait to hear everybody's mixes!
  9. I'd be happy to offer female vocals, Celtic harp, piano, hammered dulcimer, and ethnic percussion should anybody need it! If I think of a song that fits the album's theme (I just keep thinking of music from anime, not necessarily the game spinoffs), I'll pitch something too. I'm excited for this!
  10. That first example you posted was neat because it had a variety of rooms and even a couple "apartment" type areas. Is the TX place like that too or is it just single rooms and such? Just curious in case it pans out.
  11. Yeah, if this happens I would be interested, but it does also depend on cost and location for me. I have a husband and young child, so I'll need to wait for the specifics so I can plan for myself accordingly.
  12. Yeah, I'm definitely interested. That sounds like fun!
  13. Thank you for dreaming up the idea and working on making it happen!
  14. Yay! Thanks so much for your efforts in making this happen, and congrats to everyone for contributing. Can't wait to listen to it at the event later!
  15. I love this! I agree with Gario, I love that organ. Poppy indeed. I could really imagine hearing it over the speaker system at Shinra HQ. In fact, I just imagined this replacing the battle music while you're at Shinra HQ and it made me smile. It manages to be so different from the original while still being so fitting. I like the abrupt start too, since the original also starts that way.
  16. Have fun! I replayed FFX a couple years back and enjoyed the heck out of it. I honestly forgot how great the game really was! It's a ride! If you pick FFVI back up again, it's totally worth it. That sequence can be tricky if you're not already used to the game mechanics.
  17. I know you said you've already watched FFIX, but I honestly recommend playing through it on your own, too. Ditto for FFVII. IX is my favorite of the series so it's really dear to my heart. I'd actually rank my top three as IX, VI, and VII. VIII is great, too, but definitely on the weirder side and the combat/magic system didn't appeal to me as much. I love X, as well, it has a great story, music, and characters. From personal experience, a lot of people I've met have had VII or X as their first FF. VII was my first, personally. I was very young and impressionable when it came out and it was my first RPG, so it has that special spot in my gaming memory. So I would start with IX, VII, and X, if you don't mind playing through a game you're already watching. Speaking of Square RPGs and Chrono, have you played Chrono Trigger?
  18. I barely got one this morning, I was so happy! SNES is my favorite console, and even though I'm disappointed it doesn't have Chrono Trigger and Donkey Kong Country 2 or 3, I own them digitally so I'll manage. I won't lie, I teared up a little during unboxing and watching the FFVI intro. More than anything I'm excited for my son to play this when he's a little older.
  19. I'm interested in contributing! Since non-video game music is okay, could that include something from an anime that I think would work well done in a wintry style? If so, you may put me down as a remixer.
  20. How cool! I never would have thought to arrange Star-Stealing Girl like that, that's awesome. You nailed the 90's pop sound on the head. I could definitely imagine Shawn Mullins singing over this, or even Natalie Imbruglia. I too am looking forward to the finished track, especially with vocals!
  21. I like this a lot! This is one of my favorite styles of music, so I always want to hear more of this on OCR. I feel like the original has some Celtic elements already in its composition, so it translates to the medieval folk/Celtic style really well, and I really like the way you did it. I bet some recorders underneath the whistle/flute would sound great. I agree about the tambourine, that would be nice too. I would love to hear more! P.S. I play Celtic harp, so if you ever have want or need of that sound, I'm willing to help out.
