I thought it rocked, and I especially liked the transition into the ending at 1:19. I think something is clipping that shouldn't be after around the 1:00 mark though.

Sorry, all I checked was that it played back alright for me in Winamp. I know @Master Mi has done a remix for this tune. Maybe he could chime in with what midi he used, and maybe he'd like to participate this round?

It's got a great soundtrack. Highly underrated. There are barely even any remixes of it on ocr!

Thanks for mentioning the SPLASH SPLASH SPLASH of the cymbals on my entry, APZX. I assume you're referring to the hihats from the first minute or so of the piece? If so I agree there was something wrong with the way they ended up sounding in the piece, but I wasn't sure how to fix it. I'll try gating them and see how it goes!

You could always just post a link here to the right file (host it on Google drive or soundcloud) and I'm sure people would be happy to have a listen.)

My composition is coming along decently. Probably 2/3 of the way done?

Overall I would say this is very well done. The main issues I notice are these: For me the bass is a bit too forward at the beginning and the harmonics sound unpleasant. The issue disappears by 1:00, and other than that I'd say it's well mixed. I would have preferred some movement of the filter on the lead that starts at 1:50. Its notes all sound too same-y in tambre as is. This is an issue as it plays for about a minute straight and then comes back later. Also I don't see why the sampling couldn't be reproduced. There's even a Crono Trigger soundfont floating around out there somewhere, depending on how close you need your parts to be.

I agree with this. In particular, the percussion sounds like you crafted one or two bars and then copy-pasted them for the rest of the entire song. That doesn't work if you want it to sound convincing. You need to play every note separately each time it comes up to get the velocities right to make it sound right, even if it's part of the same pattern as before. This shouldn't be too hard if you have a midi keyboard or a set of pads.

Pretty nice. The only criticism I have is the harp sounds a bit dull. It could probably be enhanced to the point where it really sparkles with some...I'm not great at mixing, so I'll just have a guess...EQ, saturation, and a slight volume boost? And maybe an EQ cut in the synth where the harp needs to shine.

Rockin! I'll admit I never understood why they had the fast-paced trancey songs in the SS2 soundtrack - it just sounded so out of place in game - but I think you did a great job with it. There's a lot of movement and a lot of changes and different parts to keep the listener interested.

Explain your usual workflow and describe what aspects of it you think need to be improved. Or maybe pick a part of someone else's remix that you enjoyed and try to recreate it.

I only ended up with 30 seconds of unmixed material so I didn't submit. Maybe I'll come back to it next year

There were 3 buttons marked download, nothing had a preview url, and there were window popunders covered in ads. I browse the internet in a sandbox. Maybe the site is safe, but it made me feel gross enough to reset the sandbox afterward.

OP, that filesharing site looks dodgy. Why not use something respectable like Google Docs instead?
