  1. Love that smoove bossa nova sound. I think the source is prevalent enough, and like previous mixes that stylistically rely heavily on the idea of improvisation, this one is solid in that regard. Also stopwatching stuff like this "1:31-1:36, 1:37-1:43" is just plain silly. Really, the 96th second of the mix doesn't count? I roll my eyes at you. I went back and listened to this one again, and I realize I was probably too lenient the first time around. I absolutely love this track, but the melodic/harmonic elements start to deviate from the source far too much. If you plan on a resub I'd like to hear more parts with the original more prominently featured. NO, resub
  2. NO It's really basic and really repetitive, with not a lot going for it besides the voice clips.
  3. First time in a while that I've heard SFX used tastefully in a mix. Pretty nice. Don't hear the source in here. Can another jooj verify? :\
  4. Maybe it's because I mixed the same source tune, but some of the chords sound off to me. Oh well. Yeah pretty solid stuff. Rockin' performance. YES
  5. Yeah this drumbeat gets really repetitive, to the point where it really...grinds my gears. hahaha get it But seriously, this mix, aside from some nice original writing where Larry pointed out, is pretty much a really nice sound upgrade. You gotta bring more to the table. NO
  6. I'm not sure what that hissing SFX is, or why it's there. Flute sequencing is mechanical, and the brass accompaniment is not much more that sustained notes. There's a lot more that can be done there; needs movement. NO
  7. I love me some FFV. Yipes, someone went FX happy. I'm a minute in and I still don't hear any bassline. This is some really basic stuff. You have a general idea of what kind of piece you want, but there's very little substance here; it's a lot of layers that don't really balance with each other. Percussion is pretty weak too. Needs work. NO
  8. I agree with this being drawn out. I think that for an arrangement that moves slowly like this, you really need more expressive sequencing and better samples. The strings are really exposed throughout the piece. Keep in mind that when you're producing a piece like this, you have to write to your samples. Make them work for you; you can't say "I'm writing a violin part" and just slap a violin sample on what you write; it rarely works out for the best when you do that. Think about shifting around your parts a little; strings are overrated! Try some clarinets! Just a suggestion. Needs work. NO
  9. Alright well, Doni, Zephyr, and Olarin all want to join, but I only have two slots (because Ella Guru dropped out). Whoever picks a Robot Master first is in. As for match-ups, I'm just going to do it randomly.
  10. Great arrangement, but it needs a performance. Consider hooking up with one of OCR's pianists (heehee) to give this the expressiveness it deserves. NO, resub
  11. This the Link's Awakening Overworld Theme. JUST FYI. A good example of how to use chip sounds in a ReMix (note the caps, people). It's not hardware perfect and makes no attempt to be. Some cool pitch bends and hot beats. Piano is pretty. I can certainly see Rock tearing it up in Hyrule. YES!~
  12. Yeah, great sound. Very clean. YES
  13. Too much sampling. NO
  14. Great background music, but I agree with the others. Let's get a B section here. NO
  15. Pretty epic bro. Guitar is a change of pace from what I usually hear from you, but it's solid as hell. YES
  16. If ever there was a way to arrange this song for guitar, this would be it, right here. Absolutely wonderful. YES
  17. I think it's solid. The genre adaptation is very good; there's a very dreamy feel here and I think a lot of attempted trance subs we get lack that. HOWEVER! The melody really does get lost in the last third of the mix at times. I wish it could be brought out more. NO, resub
  18. Everything sounds smashed together and really messy. There are parts where you sing quietly and it just gets lost. Accompaniment and vocals don't lock together, and there are some intonation issues in the singing. The crowd is also extraneous and gimmicky; it worked on CREID but it doesn't really work here. NO
  19. Not really all that exciting in terms of soundscape. I agree with Dave, everything sort of has a static, unprocessed quality (that woosh on the some of the pads is definitely part of the same, not applied). Some cool SFX transitions and interesting arrangement ideas, but I think this needs more work. NO
  20. Leads were a little weak, but the rest of the soundscape is killer. Great arrangement; awesome source choice too. Could have done with some more tabla, but I have indiabias. YES
  21. CELTIC MUSIC = 90s EURODANCE! Sorry, had to get that out of my system. Speaking of the system, it's down all over this place. Really anthemic stuff here; I dig the old school sound. I love the announcer stuff later. TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR~ YES~!
  22. Fantastic. A thumpin' good time. Very solid club/dance track. I love the bit at 2:50ish; makes me want to get up and dance. YES
  23. I like it. It's got a hot beat and I love the spacey synths. Nice counter-melodies halfway through. I don't mind the loop so much. YES
  24. Get out.
