  1. Just wanna quickly address something that's been coming up a lot on IRC. A lot of people are disappointed that they weren't able to compete this time around because they didn't know about it or they didn't have time or whatever. I want everyone to know that judging by the success of Round One of GRMRB, I'm definitely planning on running another tournament after this one is over. The next tournament will be the Grand Maverick Remix Battle, that is to say, it's going to focus on the Mega Man X series' bosses. As of now, I have not decided on the exact dates, and sign-ups are not open, so please don't start claiming Mavericks or anything like that. I want to give the GRMRB my full attention at the moment. I'll provide further details when we get there, so for now, please enjoy the current tournament, and make sure you go vote.
  2. http://toucharcade.com/2010/01/12/sword-poker-a-fantastic-hybrid-of-poker-and-rpg/ Bought this game on my iPod yesterday. It's really fun and the poker-based battle system is really strategic. Great music too. There's a lite version you can try but the full version is going for like a dollar right now. Check it out.
  3. Thanks to Kyle for the list and a mirror. Thanks Douliface for the mirror. Voting will end at Noon on Saturday. Eastern Standard Time.
  4. You can and should vote for yourself! Have confidence!
  5. voting is go GO GO!!! Check the first post for details.
  6. I'm back from Kung Fu and I'm going to eat dinner. Uploading mixes now.
  7. Alright guys, I got everyone's mixes, but I said you have until 9PM EST to get any fixes in so 9PM EST it is. I have kung fu class UNTIL 9PM and then I have to eat so files will be up for voting sometime tonight.
  8. We already have a thread about Bayonetta. Merged.
  9. Nice boat. AM I RITE?
  10. Your sig is too tall. 250px is the height limit. Please resize it.

  11. I'm so glad you guys don't work for Nintendo.
  12. Agreed. That third movie was terrible. Apparently the plans are to reboot the franchise and do something closer to Ultimate Spider-man, with Peter in high school. Considering how great a series USM is, I'm ready for a fresh start. Hopefully they get the right creative people on board (i.e. people that know comics). They should take a cue from DC's reorganization and get actual comics writers as creative consultants on the project, especially if they're aiming for something close to USM; get Brian Michael Bendis on board!
  13. This project is under review. Arek, contact me.
  14. I like the back and forth between rock and acoustic elements; it keeps things fresh and dynamic throughout. Arrangement is great as well; there are some really great rockin' takes on the source balanced out by the lighter sections. I particularly like the folksy bit at 2:01. I don't think the source usage is an issue here; everything gels nicely together based on chords and melodic lines. Great job. YES
  15. I disagree on the arrangement front. For the most part I like the interpretation, and I think the section starting around 2:25 works; things lock together harmonically. My only gripe is that around the end we just get a long vamp into the end. I think you need to alter things more sonically if you're just going to iterate the same phrases over and over again. As for production, this mix is pretty balls-to-the-wall for the entire time; I agree that things need room to breath, although I love the energy in this piece. Your lead stays pretty static throughout, maybe some switching off to something less buzzy would help in areas. I didn't vote on the last one, but as for this one, I think you're on the right track; just needs a little more and you're good. NO, resub.
  16. OverClocked ReMix is an AMERICAN WEBSITE. If you are not from 'MERICA get out.

  17. This game was never released in the US. If you want to play it on an actual SNES, you need a PAL machine.
  18. This sounds a lot like a sound upgrade of the original. There are some background rhythmic changes but for the most part this follows the original though. I didn't really have a problem with the production; it actually sounds like some good shmup dance music. Pretty awesome energy. I'd like to hear more from you; hopefully pieces with more arrangement and riffing. NO
  19. I love all of that stuff--it sounds fantastic--but this mix is problematic. The source itself is pretty odd, and you do a good job of utilizing it, but there are long stretches (like starting at :27, and again at 1:26) where it doesn't sound like what you have is derived from the source music; rather, it's riffing on the original bassline/comping you've set up in the earlier parts of the mix. It sounds great, but it goes off the rails, away from the source. I think if we saw some stronger usage of the themes from the admittedly odd source, it'd be better, but for now, I'm gonna say NO, resub.
  20. I like the chippy intro, but once the beat drops it turns into a generic saw-wave dance track. :\ There's something up with the kick drum; I'm not really sure what the deal is, but it sounds like it's stuttering; maybe it's a side effect of the side-chaining? The drums overall are very uninspired; needs more energy and presence. The filtered saw lead also sounds weak. The arrangement itself isn't bad; a simple genre adaptation, but you need more variation throughout; this piece just reiterates the melody a couple of times over the standard beat. Gotta break it down, get a B section in there or something. Also, that's a pretty long fadeout ending. NO
  21. Alright well I guess that's it. Awesome tune but not enough source. NO
  22. This sounds really top heavy in terms of instrumentation and EQ. That crystal synth is too loud and overpowers everything. Arrangement isn't bad; nice ideas, but ultimately too repetitive. I can't shake the feeling that some of the notes aren't transcribed from the original correctly. Maybe you changed them to fit harmonically but it sounds off to me. Could use some sound adjustments and stronger presence in the low-end. NO
  23. The arrangement is fine; I actually like the harmonies on the melody in the beginning. I'm going to agree that there needs to be some more humanization in the sequencing. It sounds robotic in the opening; the only part that sounds human are the long runs. Needs some tweaking. NO
  24. I had a vote written out but then I closed my browser. Let's see if I can remember everything. There's a really solid groove here and the production is really clean. Your instruments are balanced nicely and nothing sticks out. I really like how you took embellishing and melodic elements from the original and developed a solid groove out of them. This is a really fun track. YES
