  1. ADV Films doesn't make anything. They're a licensing company. And making a topic about "Anime" is like making a topic about "Movies" or "Books." It's so broad.
  2. First song I ever wrote for a small ensemble: http://darkesword.com/listen/original/mp3/dragoon.mp3 One of the last songs I wrote before I started using FLStudio in earnest: http://darkesword.com/listen/original/mp3/fight.mp3 First remix I ever finished. It's of various Sonic boss themes: http://darkesword.com/listen/remix/mp3/darkegg.mp3
  3. It's a very old promotional piece that was probably available in some Japanese magazine a long time ago. I recall reading a version that was published online somewhere, but I have no idea where that was. Regardless, it's not what you may be thinking in terms of a $10 manga tank sold at the bookstore (Legend of Zelda, however, had loads of those).
  4. Which is exactly why we don't do it here. But having an outside tool that we can mention when the question comes up is nice to have, because the question DOES come up (vocal mixes, piano mixes, etc. etc.). Personally I'd prefer it if the word genre wasn't used, as it implies classification, rather than description. I think something like OCR Tagged would be better, because the term tag implies limitless descriptors, rather than pidgeon-holed classification. That way we can tag stuff with like "violins" or "4-on-the-floor" instead of "Orchestral" and "Techno." But hey, I'm not programming it, so whatev.
  5. .sfpack is a compressed format, just like .zip or .rar, except it's specifically for soundfonts. Use google to find an .sfpack unpacker, use the program to decompress your .sfpack files, and then use the resulting .sf2 files.
  6. *shrug* I'd hardly call VGMix3's planned feature set a bunch of bells and whistles. A lot of it promises to be really useful, particularly the project management tools for organizing album remix projects and stuff.
  7. Just wanted to pop in and say you guys are doing a nice job. These look great. This project has come a long way since Dafydd originally suggested it to me. ROCK ON GENTLEMEN
  8. Well, not exactly back. It's not VGMix3. Right now it's just a prefab music oriented CMS and some forums. It doesn't have any of the talked-about features we'll eventually see when VGMix3 finally does go up. It's another stop-gap. Not that that's bad, I'm just saying.
  9. Here's a remix of Dr. Light's Capsule theme. Mega Man X4 - Searching for Light
  10. Not a fan of using 'genre' but it's nice to see someone implementing a way to tag OC ReMixes.
  11. Those Nintendo execs are mostly American businesspeople, not Japanese designers. If a reviewer has connections to those execs, that doesn't really mean much, unless those execs were involved with the production of the game, which I highly doubt. Plus your own post misinterprets what you quoted. You said it's "completely" orchestrated, and then you say "Yep" and confirm that statement with "much of which is fully orchestrated." "Much of which" != "Completely" In any case, anyone who's actually played the game could tell you that not all of the music in Mario Galaxy is a live orchestra. There are plenty of tracks in the game that are synthesized.
  12. Yeah it's pretty easy to tell when some of the tracks aren't orchestrated in Mario Galaxy. And I'd hardly look at IGN as a credible source when it comes to game music.
  13. Speaking of Mario stuff, anyone catch that Extra Mario Bros. speedrun vid on Youtube? It's like a combination of Mario and Metroid. I managed to get the IPS and patch a ROM earlier today, and it's a really well put together game.
  14. Just want to make sure you understand that just because you request something doesn't mean your request will be filled. In any case you're probably better off requesting a specific song than simply a series of games.
  15. omfg roooooooooooooooooooooooooooofl
  16. The cello here isn't a good lead. It's buzzy and there's too much reverb on it. You need to pay a lot more attention to velocities when you're sequencing. You have a lot of successive notes that are the same velocity in the harp, piano, and cello lines. As a rule of thumb, velocities from note to note should always at least slightly differ from one another. Think about a person playing a piano: when he plays, he's not going to press every key of the piano with the exact same amount of force; depending on how his hand is positioned, the note he played previously, and other factors, the next note will be quieter or louder. This goes the same for other instruments as well. When you produce music on a computer with your mouse, you have to remember that even though you're "writing" the notes into the computer, you're still a performer, and you have to perform your music.
  17. Carefree is the kind of artist I'm always trying to emulate. Think of this piece as a tribute to him. In all seriousness, I'm glad people are enjoying the song.
  18. Source found. Onion heads FTW! http://blog.roodo.com/onion_club/
  19. I guess they're just suppose to be a little guy who does typical anime-style expressions. I found them on a Toku fan forum and figured out a way to download them all. Tensei and I are going to try using them more often.
  20. Am I the only person who never thought "Borat" was funny?
  21. Happy Birthday To The Lady!
  22. What an excellent remix!!
  23. Thank you, thank you! Can you believe I'm 24 now? Where is my youth going?!
  24. WMRE is Emory University's radio station. OCR Judge Larry Oji (Liontamer) used to host a radio program on the weekends dedicated to the VG arrangement scene called VG Frequency.
  25. The rock one has some great arrangements (like the title medly), but the techno one was just horribly generic.
