1. Die Hard Trilogy 'I Love The Airport' Too similar to the original. The only thing changed is really the drums and the airport effects. Some decent synthwork, but not enough change. YES 2. Ys 'Beat of Terror' NSF rip with nice samples. Try RPGamer instead. They like this stuff. YES 3. Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun 'PharoTeknical' There are parts of this that even sound the same, as far as textures. I just don't think it's different enough. YES 4. Streets of Rage 2 'Funkdreamer' Again, this feels like an upgrade rather than a remix. There are some parts like the sax and bass breakdown that are a bit original, but on a whole, the mix uses the same instrumentation and style as the original. YES 5. Donkey Kong Country 'Strolling The Mines' Argh so borderline on this one. It's really good trance, but it doesn't really attempt to remix the source material in any way. It's just built around it. The melodic line never passes to an original sound save the section at 2:30; there's no melodic play, either. Meh. Coulda been a contender. YES 6. Usagi Yojimbo 'Homage to Amida Buddha' Borderline. Sounds are very similar, but I'm going to have to say that the guitar adds enough countermelodic ideas to warrant retention. I'd NO JUDGE it, but this is just lockdown. NO 7. F-Zero GX 'Dr. Stuard (Jeff & Toad Air Team Challengers)' Rip. 'Nuff said. YES 8. Earthbound 'Dreaming on Distant Shores' I can't for the life of me understand why this was even flagged in the first place. I compared both songs and I immediately picked up on the specific melodic hit points in the remix. Excellent remix of short source material. This is the essence of originality in remixing. NO

Bandwidth and webspace is not the prime reason OCR doesn't post everything we get. Anyway, nice job Neil. I liked your piece for the most part. Some iffy spots melodically and harmonically in the third minute, but overall, nice work.

Don't worry about it Rellik. It was my fault. KirbyMixer, remember when I talked to you on AIM the other day? Fountain of Dreams is track 57 on the NSF, so you can work that into your piece. Everyone: if you've got WIPs, post them, because then we can all provide feedback. If everyone can get solid demos by the first deadline, I won't have to cut anyone . Ikronix; the clip sounds fine to me. I'd have to hear more of it in the context of the mix to make a good judgement though. Keep going with it.

Messy string work along with poor mastering brings this mix down. Low end is too high (ha!). Guitar sounds so GM. The arrangement is repetitive. Not much in the way of development other than passing that eighth note continuo line to different intstuments. Needs more work. NO

Way too repetitive and some of that resonance on the pads get a bit too much at times. I really don't think there's enough evolution in this piece to warrant a YES. Perhaps if some of the textures changed to more different sounds I could pass it, but there's just not enough development here. NO

Wow. The pilot samples were cool in the beginning, but then you just kept playing the SAME ONES OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Talk about overkill. As for the mix, its quite simple. Coverage of the melody was very underwhelming. That lead doesn't do anything interesting, ever. It seems like its just going through the motions. There are points where I'm thinking that the lead will switch up into something crazy and fat, but it stays the same boring lead. Unexpressive, unemotive, repetitive, simplistic. Nice texture, but you need a lot more than that to get a YES. NO

Wow so tricky; however, I'm inclined to agree with Prot and Vig here. I get such a major key vibe from this song, and the original is so clearly minor. And even though it's cool to go from minor to major and vice versa, this just comes off so much like an original song inspired by Black Dream than an actual arrangement of the song. The chords seemed to be altered, the melodic lines are changed, its just a different song with a few common threads. What a disappointment; such a nice track. I'm keeping this. NO

Water should drop out after a while and we should start concentrating on the instruments. Reverb is crazy in this song; everything's bleeding together (ohnoes get a bandaid!!~!). Mastering is total poop. Come on man, you're a lot better than this. Oboe/horn thingy is nice, but it bleeds in with everything else. Remaster and resubmit! NO

Very nice sound, but weak arrangement. It follows the original very closely in terms of instrumentation and feel, which means you didn't really bring much to the track. Same genre, same instruments, SAME SONG. We're looking for a remix, not an expanded version of the original. NO
