  1. So here's an idea for a compo. This wouldn't be one of the big GRMRB or WCRG style tournament/gauntlet ones, just one of the cool weekly ones like PRC or MnP. Game Shift Remix (GSR) Rather that providing a specific song to remix, remixers are given a game and then asked to take a song from that game's soundtrack and write it to fit the soundtrack of a completely different game. So let's say you have something like, "Shift a track from Castlevania into a Tales of the Abyss." Remixers would be tasked with listening to the Tales of the Abyss soundtrack, familiarizing themselves with the overall musical aesthetic of the game, and then taking any track from Castlevania and trying to make it "fit" into the soundtrack. Obviously the game being shifted to would have to have a strong musical identity. Voters would judge based on how well they think the new track fits into the specified game. Thoughts? Interest? I'm busy with SFRG right now but I'd love for someone to take this up and try running it.
  2. New voting procedure starting this round! Voters, post your top three remixes in this thread as follows. Your name First place choice remix name Second place choice remix name Third place choice remix name Your Team Name (if you have one) Team name on the fifth line is new. If you don't have a team, don't include a fifth line. Copy your team name from the first post in the voting thread so that capitalization is consistent. I'm working on getting scores for round 2 and 3 into my tracking sheet. Once that's done, I'll publicize scores and keep the sheet updated week to week.
  3. The Sigma Fortress Remix Gauntlet (Main Competition Thread) Voting for round 4 is now open, and will end on Saturday, August 29, at 6PM EDT. Your name First place choice remix name Second place choice remix name Third place choice remix name Your Team Name (if you have one) Please use the forum's bulleted list feature, as shown above, and please do not "creatively misspell" remix names; copy the remix titles from the list above to avoid any mistakes. Do not include NUMBERS in your list, i.e. your first choice should be "Remix Title," not "1) Remix Title." Please copy your team name from the following list so that capitalization is consistent: Desert Catz Dopplergangers Faster than Light Maverick Astley Nightmare Tank Police Rock Hard Mandrills Sigma's Enigma Team Zero Treble THE SIGMA FORCE Vintage Reploid Squad Wily's Rejects X-Square Zero Tolerance This is really important, because it'll help me plug your votes into my tallying spreadsheet without a lot of hassle. Voting in the proper format will help expedite the tallies being done. Thank you! Things to keep in mind when voting: The most important thing to consider when voting is how well the remix incorporates and arranges both themes. Production and enjoyability should also be considered, but this is primarily an arrangement competition. The sources have been linked above for your reference. Everyone is allowed (and encouraged) to vote, including competitors. Competitors should not place their own team's remix in their rankings, regardless of whether they are the remixers for that round or not. However, by voting, they will earn a first place vote for their team's remix. If you are on a team, you must post what team you are on in your vote so I can make sure your team gets your voting bonus. If you do not specify your team, I cannot guarantee that your team will receive a voting bonus. You are required to make an actual decision for each choice, meaning, you cannot declare a draws or a ties for different places. This will be counted as not voting and your vote will not be counted. Do not post reviews in the voting thread. Compile your reviews for each round into a single post in the main competition thread. Post only once in each voting thread. Everyone must adhere to the Competitions Code of Conduct.
  4. DarkeSword Rolling (Frost Walrus in Palace Ground [X]) Wanderforce (Gravity Antonion in Palace Ground [X]) Firefly (Shining Hotarunicus in Palace Ground [X])
  5. Timaeus, please do OCR00061 - OCR00100 Tables, please do OCR00101 - OCR00140 SystemsReady and Olarin, check your PMs for assignments and links.
  6. If something is clearly meant to be a flute, but also a sampled flute and not live, put it as a flute. Synth is more for a generated electronic sound that doesn't necessarily have an acoustic analogue. Tables, please work on OCR00041 - OCR00060.
  7. If you've finished your assigned batch and want some more remixes to do, post here for a new assignment!
  8. For extra tags, check the instruments that are prominent. For example, if the violin in a track particularly stands out, check "violin." But if it's just a background instrument that doesn't really draw focus, leave it. No on the comment box. We have a specific set of tags that we've gone over many times. We don't want to get into adding really subjective terms like what you've indicated.
  9. I believe the the Collective refers to the OC Jazz Collective (who are also awesome)! The hip-hop group is OverClocked Assembled.
  10. Yeah remember guys, a song can be in a key and also modulate and have accidentals here and there. That doesn't necessarily change the key, it just means that the composer is stepping outside the box for a bit to keep things interesting.
  11. ladyWildfire, I strongly urge you to get someone to spit some rhymes over Tribal Hunter if you decide to sub to OCR. The beat is too good and is practically begging for someone to rap over it.
  12. An updated zip file has been uploaded with fixed file names. Some extraneous hyphens floating around that I did not catch. Also remember, if you have a Maverick from MMX5, use the Japanese name, not the weird localized Puns 'n Roses name (i.e. Tidal Makoeen instead of Duff McWhalen).
  13. Remixes are up! Let me know if there are any issues. Thank you and enjoy.

  15. Music is being prepared. Hiryuu, Anorax, and Darren Smith, you guys didn't submit 44.1kHz waves. I have to convert these. Please make sure you are exporting your wav files in accordance with the standards specified in the first post.
  16. I agree. I think it would be worth exploring putting some artist links on remix pages.
  17. Music will go up later tonight folks. Sorry, got caught up with some other things last night. Also, remember guys, if you're having trouble coming up with an idea for your remix this week, you have team members you can bounce ideas off of. Get on Skype or something and start brainstorming. There's nothing wrong with having your team members come up with the seed of your arrangement, so long as you're the one expanding it out into a full piece.

  19. Great graphics and music. Awesome character progression with Zero. Really love the story with Repliforce. Tragic love between Iris and Zero is sad. Bad VA is charming and also excusable. Revelations about Zero's past are interesting. Game has great control, very fun.
