  1. No I mean WoW's graphics engine does most of it's work in the CPU, rather than the GPU, where most modern games (MMO or not) do their graphics work.
  2. That's because WoW really depends heavily on the CPU more than the GPU.
  3. I'm messing with you man. xD
  4. You can also reveal the match-ups and do the bracket image later.
  5. Brandon, just do the match-ups like 5 minutes before you post them. They're not that hard to do and you don't need to prepare them a day in advance or anything.
  6. If you haven't played since BC...how do you know it's the same old thing?
  7. Not attending or subbing to the live pass, but I am pretty interested in info about the new WoW expansion.
  8. Yesterday at work I was talking to a friend of mine about Blizzcon. He's attended for a few years and we talked about the fact that Blink-182 is performing there this year. In the past, Blizzard's gotten Foo Fighters and Ozzy Osborne to appear at Blizzcon, and before that they always had performances by one of their in-house bands, L90ETC (formerly L85ETC, L80ETC, etc.). I mentioned that it seemed interesting to me that Blizzcon went for some very mainstream rock acts for entertainment at the event rather than showcasing game bands; to me, music from the featured acts felt a little incongruous with what I think of when I think about WoW and Diablo music; maybe they fit with Starcraft more, but the vibe I got from SC2 (from what little I've played of it) was more of a space-western. I get was Blizzard is doing, in that they just want people to have a good time, but this led me to another question: is there a music scene that exists around Blizzard games? Years ago, when Harry Potter was at the very height of popularity, there was a small music scene that grew out of that fandom oriented around "Wizard Rock" which was basically just rock music with Harry Potter oriented lyrics. They referenced the books and movies and borrowed their style from the characters. There are also a lot of Mega Man cover bands. Sure they hit other games sometimes, but they also do original music and sing songs ABOUT Mega Man too. So is there a music scene around Blizzard games that I don't know about? What about other series? Is there a Castlevania band scene? Final Fantasy? What is it about certain media properties that inspires these small niche music scenes?
  9. We're doing a fairly large run to start with, but since this is the one album we're actually allowed to sell, we're going to make sure to do as many runs as we can to meet demand. For anyone who was holding out, Amazon MP3's price has finally been fixed and it's available for $9.99! If you guys can leave an honest, positive review on Amazon or iTunes or wherever you purchase the album from, it'd be much appreciated!
  10. FYI, Brandon got the number 24 from what I used to put in my tournament threads, which is admittedly confusing because I've never actually explained why that number would work. I've always had a contingency plan in place on how to lock the number of contestants into 24 and make the tournament work if 32 couldn't be reached. I've PMed Brandon about it and it seems to be something he's interested in doing if only 24 people sign up, so don't worry about the tournament working out properly. Just get your friends to sign up so you all can hit either 24 or 32 (and FYI, my plan also works for 48).
  11. Nooooooooooooooooooope.
  12. For people doing game specific remixes, please keep the length of your tracks, UNDER 6 minutes. This is designed to be a single-disc album and physical release is guaranteed. We can't go over 80 minutes and there's a lot of extended material from Jordan's Smash Series mix that I'd like to get on here. We need to make sure we can fit everything onto a single disc.
  13. Next year is the 75th anniversary of DC Comics' classic character, Batman. They're planning on pulling out all the stops with a lot of crazy stuff going on in the comic books. This is an idea that came up during on of the OCR Talkbacks: there've been a lot of Batman video games over the years with great music, from the old Sunsoft games all the way up to the new Arkham series. It makes perfect sense for OC ReMix to release a Batman album to help celebrate the 75th anniversary, filled with remixes of these songs. I won't be running this project myself (no time, too many projects, etc.), so I'd like for someone to volunteer to take the reigns and organize everything. The only thing I will say is that it should remix music from Batman video games, not music from any of the Batman TV shows, cartoons, or movies. We are OC ReMix, after all. Anyone up to the task?
  14. The physical copy is coming out in a couple of weeks. You can pre-order it on CDBaby.

  16. The Kindle version of The Way of Kings, by OC ReMix fan and awesome fantasy author Brandon Sanderson, on sale on Amazon for $1.26. Many OCR staffers are fans of this book. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003P2WO5E?tag=brandsande-20 GET!
  17. Your sig's too tall. Needs to be 250px or less. Please resize.

  18. Brandon you should throw the character themes in a google doc spreadsheet or something and link to that. Better to not maintain pertinent info about the competition in two separate threads. That way if people have questions about sources they can ask and have them answered here, in the main competition thread.
  19. Hey are you interested in doing a chillout track for the end with either Smash or Injustice? Last year we did Pokémon as the chillout track, sort of the "everything was super hype for the weekend but now let's just relax on the drive home." I think it's a nice way to close out the album. If you take one of the games, I can take the other, and we can decide who does the chillout track.
  20. You are super weird.
  21. Jeff wasn't on Sixto's track. That was an error on my part (Jeff worked on another track with Sixto for a different project I'm running, I mixed things up). That track was 100% Sixto.
