  1. Brandon you should throw the character themes in a google doc spreadsheet or something and link to that. Better to not maintain pertinent info about the competition in two separate threads. That way if people have questions about sources they can ask and have them answered here, in the main competition thread.
  2. Hey are you interested in doing a chillout track for the end with either Smash or Injustice? Last year we did Pokémon as the chillout track, sort of the "everything was super hype for the weekend but now let's just relax on the drive home." I think it's a nice way to close out the album. If you take one of the games, I can take the other, and we can decide who does the chillout track.
  3. Jeff wasn't on Sixto's track. That was an error on my part (Jeff worked on another track with Sixto for a different project I'm running, I mixed things up). That track was 100% Sixto.
  4. Feel like funking this one up? Local VS Player Select
  5. The physical copy is coming out in a couple of weeks. You can pre-order it on CDBaby. Theoretically yes, but it's not something we're planning on pursuing. I can see where you're heading with this and I want to stop you right there and make something very clear: Capcom approached us on this, and we're selling this album because that was their desire. We got a good deal set up with them concerning licensing costs and other stuff, which is why it was worth our while to do a commercial album. But the situation with Capcom is not typical, and we don't want any project directors to start getting dollar signs in their eyes with this kind of thing. As stated elsewhere, OC ReMix's main focus will always be a by-fans-for-fans community, providing music at no charge whenever possible. As indicated by this album, we're not opposed to working closely with publishers to put out fully-licensed commercial releases that help fund the site and give back a little to the artists, but the vast majority of music coming out of OC ReMix will be in line with what we've been doing for nearly 14 years.
  6. Short answer: yes. Slightly longer answer: they wanted to put out an album or two to celebrate the 25th Anniversary. So they contacted us because they know that we know VGM and have the people do it well. We worked out a nice deal with them, and that was that. Another bonus: because of the licensing deal we have, we are actually able to SELL the physical copies at all of our convention appearances. I can't tell you how many times someone's come up to our merch table and said "hey can i buy sound of speed/apex 2013/final fantasy xvivxivxivxvix?" and one of us just has to make that "eehhhhhhhhh" face and start saying "wellll because of copyriiiiights and licensiiiing we reeeeaally can't sellll the albums..." It's just the worst, man. With this album we can actually say "We have an album for SALE! You can BUY it! With MONEY!"
  7. Nope. YouTube specifically precluded under terms (can't sync to video), and we're licensed to sell, not give away, so downloadable mixposts are no good either.
  8. Hey everyone. Need final tracks by NOVEMBER 30th. Apex 2014 is in January during MLK weekend. We have to have PHYSICAL copies of the album ready to distribute AT the event, so November 30 is a critical deadline to hit so that we can get the physical order in and done. Thanks!
  9. Please stop saying "selling out." It's incredibly insulting.
  10. OCR is and always will be very much about music by the community and for the community. Free mixposts and free albums constantly rolling out year 'round. You will never run out of free music to listen to from us. Commercial albums produced in collaboration with game companies is a fun way for the site to support itself. You won't see these often, I think. Just in very specific circumstances when the terms are favorable for us. I don't want to say too much or go into too many details, but Capcom set up a pretty good arrangement with us for this album, which is part of why we did it.
  11. Hopefully if we ever do something like this again we can get you in on it. I loved your GMRB track from way back when!
  12. Very proud to finally present this album to everyone. I hope everyone enjoys what they hear. Please let us know what you think!

"It's no secret that I've kind of made it my personal mission in life to fill the world with Mega Man remixes," says album director and long-time Mega Man fan Shariq "DarkeSword" Ansari. "I've always felt that the music from Capcom's legendary franchise is incredibly diverse, wonderfully catchy, and very approachable from an arranger's point of view. I'm happy to say that we got an incredible pool of talented artists to dig into all the different iterations of Mega Man and his games' music and put out some awesome tracks. I'm incredibly pleased with how this album turned out, and I'm very excited for everyone to hear it. I hope everyone out there will enjoy it as much as I do. Here's to 25 more years of Mega Man!" Mega Man games are beloved by fans all over the world. Since their debut in 1987, Mega Man has remained a video game icon, having starred in more than 100 titles over the last 26 years. The connection he's made with pop culture at large has extended beyond games and into cartoons, toys, clothing, comics, and more. Part of that popularity is driven by the series' ability to evolve over time yet consistently retain the addictive gameplay experience that sets Mega Man games apart. 15. Actually, send me the logs. I'm actually a mod in #ocremix.
  16. PROTIP: constantly bringing up how people may have treated you poorly in the past is a great way to perpetuate people treating you poorly.
  17. It's the azan; the call to prayer. Weird to hear it over a very western major key chord progression.
  18. In this world there are two kinds of people. Winners and Losers. In this competition, there is only one kind of people. Winners. YEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH
