Domain Registration Email: is this legit?
DarkeSword replied to Patrick Burns's topic in General Discussion
Yes. Dude, seriously. It's not worth your time. It's a classic scam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_name_scams#Fake_trademark_protection For all that is good and holy, stop. Do not give these guys any money. Do not give these guys any money. Do not give these guys any money. Do not give these guys any money. Do not give these guys any money. -

Domain Registration Email: is this legit?
DarkeSword replied to Patrick Burns's topic in General Discussion
It's a scam. OCR gets emails like these all the time, "we're a domain registrar in hong kong and some one applied for ocremix.co.hk, do you want to get it before they do?" I would not conduct the purchase of a domain name through an email exchange. Like XPRT said, any time you see the word "escrow" that's a massive red flag. Just ignore this guy. Don't even waste your time calling. -
http://ocremix.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=57 The OC ReMix community has a ton of people who are talented in more than just music. We've created a new forum for everyone to post non-musical work in for feedback and promotion! Give the rules a look and get to posting!
-
Hi everyone! Welcome to the Post Your Art! forum. We've had forums dedicated to posting your remixes and original music for years, but we've never really had a place where people who are talented in other ways can post their work. Well, that's no longer the case! You can post any non-musical works here, be it drawings, photography, video projects, writings, etc. Feel free to post original and fan-works. We'll be keeping an eye on how people use this forum and formulate some rules and guidelines as we go, but to start here are some things to keep in mind: Be polite and constructive if you're giving feedback. Post your work, meaning, don't plagiarize or post cool stuff that you found somewhere on the internet. Please refrain from posting any pornographic work. Be sure to mark your work with any applicable warnings/ratings (i.e. trigger warnings in your writing if dealing with more serious subject matter) Don't spam. Thanks everyone. Enjoy the new forum!

Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2 don't have map themes. Valid games would ostensibly be Super Mario Bros. 3 Super Mario World Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island New Super Mario Bros. New Super Mario Bros. Wii New Super Mario Bros. 2 New Super Mario Bros. U Super Mario Galaxy Super Mario Galaxy 2 because those are Super Mario games with maps, but this list may be pared down in the interest of focusing on more iconic and recognizable themes (i.e just SMB3 and SMW). And this is specifically map themes, not overworld, underworld, athletic, or castle music. I'll be working with Flex to nail down full list of valid sources, but I urge people to not start or claim anything until Flex plans out the album requirements. This is going to be a very tightly controlled album, built from the ground up to be very cohesive.

OverClocked ReMix, not Overclocked ReMix.

Jimmy's not just a posted remixer either. He was a prominent staff member who contributed heavily to the site and the panel when he "worked" here. I know OCR gets accused of a lot of cliqueishness, which is something we generally just laugh at because it's so ridiculous, but as far as I'm concerned, if you're a former staff member of OCR who's contributed as much as Jimmy did, you can post about whatever projects you're working on and ask for as much cash as you want, regardless of whether you're visibly active or not. Also just as an aside, djpretzel, Larry, Nutrious, and I all hung out with Jimmy at PAX (Serious Pie!!!) and you've got to be kidding yourself if you think he just used us a stepping stone. He was there at our panel supporting us and he and DannyB both gave the site a great shout out at the 30 Years of VGM panel. He's definitely OCR-for-life. It honestly boggles my mind when OCR has to defend its staff and former staff against accusations of taking advantage of the community. Give me a break.

Mega Man: The Wily Castle Remix Gauntlet 2013
DarkeSword replied to DarkeSword's topic in Competitions
What's the discrepancy? -
Yeah absolutely. That's the idea in doing this from the ground up with all new music. Lay down specific guidelines for BPM and stuff to keep things easy to mix together into a large set.
-
Um, what? OCR doesn't require that you have 50% original material for remixes. Where are you getting this?

Mega Man: The Wily Castle Remix Gauntlet 2013
DarkeSword replied to DarkeSword's topic in Competitions
The Scoreboard and Vote Tallies have been combined into one sheet. I still need to do tallies for block 3, but the scoreboard will automatically update itself as I do them. Remember everyone, one more week to work on your remixes for round 10. -

OCR Talkback Live! (Saturdays, 9PM EDT!)
DarkeSword replied to DarkeSword's topic in General Discussion
We're using Hangouts-on-Air and YouTube specifically because it's basically the most frictionless way for us to do this. We don't have to record anything, we don't have to do any kind of post production, and we don't have to set up any streaming software at all. We just sit down, setup the Hangout (which is what we use for our weekly OCR Staff meetings), and just start talking. Google Plus and YouTube take care of the rest. This is part of a small initiative to start leveraging our YouTube channel for more content than just OC ReMixes and album trailers. It's also very important for us as OCR Staff members to be able to do this stuff without it actually taking any extra effort where logistics are concerned. Hangouts-on-Air have essentially zero logistical issues. Also we did repeatedly mention that we were taking questions via Twitter, so all you have to do is tweet @ocremix and we'll see it. Larry and I both monitor OCR's Twitter account quite heavily. We'll try to mention it more often though that Twitter is the preferred method of sending us questions. Thanks for the comments! -

TUNE IN! -
Hey guys. We're trying something new tonight. Me, Larry, Stevo, and Andrew (and possibly some other OCR staffers) are going to do a live OCR Hangout on Air tonight. It'll be a short little show and we'll be taking questions. You can tune in on OCR's YouTube channel. Updates Thanks everyone for tuning in to our first ever Talkback and sending in questions. We're going to try to do an episode every Saturday night with a rotating cast. Because we're using Hangouts on Air, all of the episodes will be immediately available on YouTube as soon as they finish, and will be linked below, so if you missed it because you actually have a social life on Friday nights, you can always check out the episode later! Are YOU an OC ReMixer? Nicole Adams asked whether ReMixers can appear on the show. Hell YES! If you wanna come onto the show and talk about what you're working on, games, music, pop culture, and take questions from fans, we definitely want you on! Just post in the thread that you wanna appear on the show, let us know if you have Saturday night 9PM Eastern free (subject to change) and we'll invite you on to be a part! Episodes

OCR02871 - *YES* The Grinch (DC) 'Whovian Waltz'
DarkeSword replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
Sounds like Blast Hornet from MMX3. This is really good. Nice approach to the song, organ really adds a lot here. Feels organic. YES -
Yeah I'm gonna side with the NOs. Drums are problematic and the track kind of plods and sort of stays the same dynamically throughout, except for that break in the middle where not much is going on. NO, resub

Sounds great. If anyone else is interested in helping Flex out, or in contributing to this project, please post here.
