  1. I know you're joking, but I just want to say that this would be a massive undertaking that nobody really has any time for.
  2. this is a stupid idea and you are a bad person for having it
  3. Thanks everyone for coming out to OCR's panels this year. We had a lot of fun.
  4. Nabeel and I are here. Sitting in 2nd floor lobby by ballroom.
  5. Apex 2014 Fri. January 17 - Sun. January 19, 2014 Somerset, NJ - DoubleTree by Hilton Somerset http://apex-series.com OC ReMix is proud to announce that we'll be at Apex 2014, a major weekend-long fighting game tournament event right here in my own backyard in New Jersey, debuting Apex 2014: A New Challenger!!, the official Apex 2014 album by some very talented OC ReMixers (including yours truly!). It's the largest Smash Bros. tournament in North America (and probably the world), and will also feature other games, including (but not limited to) The King of Fighters XIII and Super Street Fighter IV. We'll be there selling shirts and merch, and the first 50 registrants will get a limited edition physical copy of Apex 2014: A New Challenger!! There will also be chances to win the album during the tournament, so bring your stick and your A-game! In addition, music from the album will be featured on the weekend-long livestreams for the tournament, so if you can't make it out to the event, be sure to tune in and follow the coverage! Hope to see you folks there!
  6. As much as I joke about loving being around all the drunk people during Mag, this really is important. Have fun, but know your limits guys. Don't drink so much that you end up forgetting half the weekend.
  7. Okay. We get it.
  8. Apex is the premier Smash Bros. tournament, and since 2013 we've been doing the official album, featuring remixes of games at the event. The past two albums have been a big hit and we're excited to be doing another one. AlexStrife, the head organizer of the event, sent over a final, confirmed list of games for this year's tournament. As always, the list of games is not limited to just Super Smash Bros., but features a variety of PvP games (mostly fighting games): Super Smash Bros. Super Smash Bros. Melee Super Smash Bros. Brawl Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Super Smash Bros. Project M Ultra Street Fighter 4 Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- Killer Instinct (XBox One) Pokemon X/Y I'm looking for aggressive, high-energy remixes, and one slower chill-out track. We want to to do at least ONE track per game. For the Super Smash Bros. games, sources that are unique to those games are highly preferred (such as main themes, menu themes, bonus level themes), but the iconic Nintendo themes used in stages are also fine. For Project M, our very own Phonetic Hero wrote some original music for the actual game, which I'd love to see remixed for the album. We are doing a physical run of this album, and copies of it will be given out at the tournament as part of prize packs and also as promotional material for OCR. We spend the weekend at the event sitting at our OC ReMix table, blasting OC ReMixes (including the Apex albums), selling merchandise (t-shirts, etc.), and generally talking up the site and the community. The music is also featured on the official Apex streams, which see a lot of viewers on Twitch. The past two Apex albums have been very well-received by the organizers at Apex, who are always very excited about the album when we show them the music, and also by attendees at the event, who generally just think it's really cool that a fighting game tournament has an official album. The event takes place in January, so I'd like to have all of the music done by November 1st, because we need to be able to print up physical copies of the album. Last year I ended up cutting things very close, which I'd like to avoid this time around. If you're interested in contributing, please make a claim on a track. Please be aware that I'm looking for skilled artists who are going to bring their A-game to the table. If you're a novice remixer or just starting out, I'm not going to outright deny you from making a claim, but this is not the album to be cutting your teeth on, so you really need to wow me with some samples of your work. Claims - These are the tracks that have been claimed by artists.
  9. Physicals will be available at con appearances after the event.
  10. Ben Briggs has graciously offered a Brawl remix from The Briggs Effect 3, his upcoming album. All music is in, album art is done. Only thing left is CD art and I'll be getting the order in tonight. Thanks everyone.
  11. thanks errbody
  12. Alright I've got an emergency. Sixto dropped his track for the Apex album, so I need a Super Smash Bros. Brawl track basically before the end of this weekend. I'm trying to work one out but I can't seem to get anything good going. Anyone out there able to crank out a Brawl remix in a couple of hours? Need a remix of the main theme. High energy. I nee this either TONIGHT or TOMORROW afternoon, because the physical orders HAVE to go in so that I can HAVE the physicals in hand for MLK weekend, when the event takes place. Need some serious help here guys.
  13. Use the Workshop, not Community. Community is for stuff that's finished and released, or finished and releasing very soon. It's not for periodic updates, samples, and previews.
  14. Because it looked like a trailer for Mario Kart at the start?
  15. Sorry about the late notice, but yes, we are having a talkback tonight around 9PMEST. Tune in as always and tweet your questions to #ocrtalkback. Twitter is always the best place to ask the questions.
  16. Hey, just 2 quick notes: First, for QC checks, please include a source link with your track links. Second, Cosmic, I strongly urge you to include Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z in the first edition. DB is one of the most iconic and quintessential Shonen Jump series with arguably the longest history of video games (going all the way back to the NES era). No other series screams Shonen Jump in the same way DB/DBZ does.
  17. babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
  18. Is it just me or does just feel like a very straightforward sound upgrade? I'm sorry, but I don't really feel like this is achieving that big powerful sound you're looking for. There's very little happening in the low-range and the whole soundscape is very sparse. I don't really hear a lot of personalization to the arrangement either, aside from some awkward timing changes to the melody where it feels like things are happening a 16th note earlier than they should. You go through the main theme twice and call it a day. I'm not as positive about this as other Js seem to be. This needs major reworking before even considering a resub. Dig into the source tunes, do some more elaborate part-writing, and bring more diversity to your soundscape. NO
  19. Gonna try to do an APEX one with some Apex personalities prior to the event, but we can do an OCA one afterwards.
  20. Brandon, you should keep information about current sources and what's happening with voting week-to-week updated in the first post.
  21. Uh, no? We've never had lawsuit attempts against us.
  22. That usually happens when we add new people.
  23. Never thought I'd do this but I'm actually voting YES on a medley. I'm not a fan of the transitions; some of them are very abrupt, but in the end you give each section of the piece time to breath and develop, and you also bring the arrangement full circle by revisiting sections, so this feels like less of a medley and more like a single piece of some definitive sections. Performances are clean and tight. Really enjoyed listening to this a lot. I don't think the soundscape is that sparse; this is just the nature of small combo jazz.
  24. Most likely yes. Site is definitely going to be mobile-friendly. Forums probably as well.
