It's Monday, and there's not much time to wait around for any voting to happen. In a time like this, the least we can do is let V win by default. I'll get your song up on PRC storage space, and I'm also expecting you to submit your source tune by Friday.
-
Patience, V. The only time when we will have a Win by Default is if we have one entry even after we have a feasible time extension. And odds are the aforementioned extension could happen. Regardless, for those that can't play SPCs but want to take part, time has been put aside to render an MP3 of the source tune. I'll link that in the first post.

It's not down, I linked to the wrong webspace for some reason. >.> I'll fix it.

The People's Remix Competition 93 PRCv4-15 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! PRC92's Teddy Boy source material had some rather cute entries, but taking the feel of the musicians' input aside, it was Siamey that managed to step forth and take the prize, claiming his first PRC victory (hit me if I'm mistaken). We're going from J-Pop to Cats saving grannies in this one. Siamey didn't provide a direct description for this game, but I hope this game based on a Fox Kids cartoon franchise should be interesting enough. Eek! The Cat - Track 3 (name unknown) MP3 | SPC Yes, I know all we have is an SPC; I'm unfortunately out of range of Winamp so I can't make the conversion right now. There's no MIDIs eiher so if anyone's willing to make one before I get access to the labs on Monday night, feel free. GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. There is no limit on entry format or file size, but length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in this thread by NEXT SATURDAY, May 5th at 4:59am Eastern US Time. Alternatively, you can also email your submissions over to submission@doulifee.com, though it would also help if you put forward a reminder in the thread. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. The winner of the previous contest may not enter an eligible mix, but his/her vote will count double. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. Doulifée's PRC Archives! PRC92: Not quite a kid, far from being an ursine (Teddy Boy)
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
I requested specifically for game sprites That and my final weeks of studying are being a huge burden on me at the moment. It's even affected PRC as well, which while the voting was ceased 10 hours ago, the results aren't up until right now. God, I want to get out of this place, even though it will cost me the opporunity to arrange for piano. Anyway... Total number of votes: 9 Total number of mixes: 3 Highest posssible score: 27 Nasenmann was left to settle for third place with 15 points. V_gasm fails his own vote campaign by getting second place with 19 points. And the winner of PRC92 is Siamey with 21 points! Man, this contest was actually pretty cute. I think we faced the most obscure source game since Highway Hunter with this one, or maybe even Fantasy Zone, but what the heck. Regardless, Siamey! Please send me your source tune by Friday so that PRC93 will get underway. Hopefully we should have an easier time getting preparations set for PRC93 as well. I should have no excuse given that I'll be home that weekend celebrating my mother's 50th birthday. Amazing o_O() -

The mixing stage is over, and now we can proceed to the voting. To cast your vote, you send me a PM and in there you rank the tracks from first to third. Cotnsetants don't need to place their own works as they will automatically get a first place vote. The vote of the winner of PRC91 (Chavous) counts twice. You have until Tuesday, April 24th at 04:59AM GMT to make your vote. The winner will get to choose the source material for PRC93! It looks like we have a good outlook for getting a vote started on Saturday. If anyone's still working on anything, it's advised that you work as hard as you can until the 10AM deadline. I want to be able to be as prompt as possible with the voting phase. -

PRC91 can be noted for having every single one of its entries being less than two minutes, but either way, Chavous managed to settle for first place as a result. Keeping with the theme of these 8-bit type games, we're being towed to the Sega Master System for this game in particular. Thinking that this originated from some kind of J-Pop singing sensation, we might be on a roll here. PRC91: Once Upon a Time in a Chasm (Cave Story) [Results]
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Thank you. @_@ I thought I did that right at the beginning; have spent more time than the usual this Easter vacation on polishing up any reports for college. No worries, I will do it for PRC92 though, I assure you. -

The voting stage is over. And man, even that was just as feeble as the voting round. Maybe Easter is a bad time for remixing @_@ Total number of mixes: 3 Total number of votes: 6 Highest possible score: 18 (wtf?) Chickenwarlord gets the third place wooden spoon with 9 points. Xela followed on in second place with 13 points. And the winner of PRC91 is Chavous with 15 points! Well done on the win, though I still feel a little miffed over what's occuring with the sudden deadlines and drop in votes lately. Regardless of what happens, I want you to get in there and show me what source material you want to utilise for PRC92 this Friday. Your input will be very much appreciated. And now, we leave PRC for just a few days longer. Thanks very much and I'll see you again this weekend. -

Wow, to think that when I checked the thread at about 9AM I thought there'd be an extension, but still, this should be interesting. I'll take a listen to the entries to see if they're legible or not, and hopefully we should have a poll by 5PM EST tonight. -

Saturday at 10AM is the GMT deadline. You know that I placed it there for one good sleep-related reason. -
Yes, this is what's worrying me. I've tried and tried but barely anything has come up in the past month or two. Add to the heavy amount of college work that I've faced in the past month (I've even been staying up until about 2 or 3 in the morning to try and get some of the paper work done) and you know I've barely had enough time for this. So, this is what's going to happen. I need a second project director to help me out. I know for sure that I am never going to complete the entire project by myself, so by having a second persona take the wheel things will start going much faster and that we may even see results that I might not have dreamed of to begin with. Anyone interested? If so, please drop me a PM as I'm expected to see these a lot more frequent than forum posts for some reason.

PRC91: Once Upon a Time in a Chasm (Cave Story) [Results]
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
There is a point in that there is little to no front page support. But seriously, what can be done about that? The least that can be done is if people do their part and start advertising the competition and whatnot. Even if that is a contributing factor, that didn't stop PRC88's prowess and end up with eight entries in total. I still think it depends on the strength of the source rather than the general exposure, though some good advertising backup could be of some benefit or other. Man, there are times like this when I miss Nineko. -

ZIP Archive Chavous - Spelunking Chickenwarlord - Fried Circuits Xela - Do the Robot! The People's Remix Competition 91 PRCv4-13 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! PRC90 kept the string of quiet turnouts, resulting in myself having to choose another source tune. What PRC needs at this rate is something that can help tow in a wider and more familiar audience as well as the potential of the source material. In that case, we are going back to PC territory, though not in the usual commercial sense. We're going for what is arguably the best freeware game ever made! I've seen in the past year or so that this game gained quite a lot of reputation on the remix front, what with an entire remix project dedicated to it and the inclusion of two arranegments from that game on OCR. Taking the experience from those into account, it's fair to see how far we can go with the source music as provided by this title. The score, among various other aspects, have been tweaked and finalised by Pixel over the past five years to create the game that we see today. On top of that, those that seem to come around to playing it have often reacted very positively to the end result. We can also take into consideration that the aforementioned remix project didn't quite cover every song in the game, and there were a few potential ones that I would have liked to see covered. This one, being played in the Egg Corridor stage (how appopriate for Easter!), is one of the more simplistic numbers that I thought could have got some instant coverage, with some strong melodic material and a justifiable length to make this more than appropriate for at least the remix project. Happy mixing! Cave Story - Mischievous Robot MIDI | MP3 I don't even know how to end this blurb... happy nine days left of giving up for Lent? GOOD LUCK! The voting stage is over! And now, let's move onto the final results. Total number of mixes - 3 Total number of votes - 8 Highest possible score - 24 Anorak and Sir Nuts have both settled for the runner-up spot with 14 points each. And the winner of PRC90 is Rexy with 22 points! This competition was pretty quiet o_O() but still, it would be nice if we can get a little bit more promotion. Though I'm worried if my posts could be ignored if I clutter the main Community forums. Either way, I have a firm idea for a source tune for this coming Friday, so get ready for it. See you there, people -

Still at least it's better than nothing. Do you want it to be shown as a voteable entry though? I just want to make sure before we jump ahead. Nonetheless I got an entry down. I wasn't planning on entering due to having a lot of stuff to do by Monday morning, but never mind that. -

Well, this is getting tedious. We have eight hours left and not a single entry. I say we get to push people as much as possible but other than that, odds are we might be heading for time extension territory again. -
OCRA-0008 - Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Project Chaos
Rexy replied to SnappleMan's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
Both aspects can be true - I can sneak in other themes at times, and I have a passion for Spyro the Dragon. However, the intro is actually referencing to Sonic 3's title music. Though, I do see where he's coming from with the rhodes piano and whatnot; I do see the uncanny similarity in musical style. Ragnor, your commentary is very well detailed; thank you for taking the time to express your opinions -

Star Fox 64 was our choice of game for PRC89, but not even the entries were just as quantified (is that a word?) as the amount of times the phrase "Do a Barrel Roll" was exclaimed in the game. Nonetheless, Villainelle pulled through as the competition's winner with her first foray into FL; hopefully we'll see her keep using whatever tools she has to polish up her skills in the coming months. PRC89: How many barrel rolls have YOU done today? [Results]
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
A first place vote has as many points as there are entries. So if there's six entries competing against one another, a first place vote is worth six points. Likewise, in the case of this PRC, first place was worth three points because there were three entries. -
