PRC261 - A Classical Start of the New Season (Columns III)
Rexy replied to Bundeslang's topic in Competitions
Played OneUp's track on last night's SEGA Mixer Drive Season 2 premiere. Congratulations on the win - your track got a great response from the IRC audience last night -
Bloody hell, it filled up within nearly 24 hours? That's amazing stuff! It'll also be sweet to see what comes out of all this - consider me really excited over this. And Xenonetix has White Acropolis? Awesome - I covered that as part of the Sonic Stadium Music Adventure 2012, and I'm always happy to see more people give that source a bald attempt. Good luck

The source list is almost correct in a way: 16-bit Sonic 2 is missing Wing Fortress, S&K Death Egg, SA1 Sand Hill (debatable; it's a Tails only level on a flatboard or something), SA2 all the Dark Story stages and Unleashed Eggmanland. Sonic '06's 'End of the World' is the equivalent to SA2's Cannon's Core in that it's , so discretion's up to SuperiorX on that.

Coming live every Friday night (9PM GMT / 1PM PST / 4PM EST), SEGA Mixer Drive is a show focused around arrangements of SEGA music new and old. Originally a 1-hour show during its first season, this 2-hour Friday night show will go through a wide selection of arranger / source spotlights, listener requests and some of Rexy's own explorations - as well as being on hand to premiere some of the newest remix releases before anywhere else. Wow! Can I request something on one of your shows? You can indeed, and I am definitely open to what you want to hear! There are some rules to what can be played though: * If you state a source you want to hear on the show, I'll do my best to find any mixes for it, but in the event I can't find anything, I will have to break it to you. * Following that rule, no source material itself. However, remixes in later game soundtracks are fine (e.g. most of the Sonic Generations score) so I am open for that if that's your cup of tea. * Being OCR, I'm not quite too sure if you guys are familiar with this rule, but the game in question must have been developed or published by Sega to begin with. If the game had multiple publishers, I will review them on a case-by-case basis. * If there's a remix you want to hear, and I somehow don't have it, I would ask you to link it to me so I can pick it up. * You can request as many things as you'd like, but I'd only play a maximum of 2 requests of yours per week. Variety is the spice of life after all! I want to request something that just came out! I think you'll like it! If that's the case, definitely send me the link so I can check it out. I surf around the wider community a lot, whether it be OC Remix, Bandcamp, RKO, Youtube or various other places. Often when I find something new, most often or not it would go under the 'Remix Highlights of the Week', premiering the newest releases here first when possible. I have a new album out / have been involved with a new community project - do you want to play it? I'm up for it - if you've got an album release, send it my way and I will take a listen. I've done SMD album shows in the past for the Sonic Stadium Music Adventure 2012, plus the OC Remix albums 'Be Aggressive!' (Gunstar Heroes) and 'Temporal Duality' (Sonic CD). I've also gone through Mega Ran & Mister Wilson's 'Blur Bomber' as part of RadioSEGA Presents. So to sum it up, I'm all ears - let me see what you got! That's cool and all, but how do I get in touch with you? There are four ways you can do so: * By sending me a private message on the RadioSEGA forums * Via Twitter - my own personal twitter is preferred, but you can also send it to the official RadioSEGA twitter too. In either case, be sure to include the hashtag #SEGAMixerDrive so I can see it! * In the RadioSEGA IRC - send me a query and let me know what you want to hear! * By posting in the RadioSEGA Facebook group * Or if you're too scared to socialize (!), you can always hook me up by email at bev [dot] wooff [at] gmail [dot] com - I check my email on a daily basis, so I shouldn't miss anything here. Awww, crap... I'm gonna miss the show. Can you save the recording for me? Yes I can! The show will be archived and saved as podcasts on RadioSEGA Media! You can also subscribe on iTunes or alternatively subscribe on Stitcher, with all new episodes being listed in there as soon as they are available to download. Let me know if this thread is in the wrong place. I've seen other radio shows get promoted in community before, so I thought this would be no different *_*

Dwelling of Duels - Brevity Month (Jan 2014)
Rexy replied to Brandon Strader's topic in General Discussion
Perhaps I do. I've done before, but I'm set to embrace the challenge of working with something as small as 1.I don't care about rank this time - I never took part in the DoD last year, and this is the way to get re-involved -
I'm pretty sure that in a similar fashion to the Unleashed sources and the Sonic 2 2-player stages, the separate tracks for stages on Sonic Adventure would count as two separate places if they are extremely distinct from another (like in your Casinopolis example). So if someone wants to compete with "Run Through the Speed Highway", while another person would use "At Dawn", both for SA1's Speed Highway... then I don't see a problem. But I guess we'll see what Matt thinks.

Everyone's at MAGFest, having fun without us limeys (well, except Will but he betrayed our kind... jk man )... but yeah, I support the Euro Talkback. Make it happen one day

Morning! Concerning remixes, we've had a workout playlist thread here in the past. Perhaps you may get some ideas for your morning runs from that?

Pokémon X/Y and OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire (Gen6) (3DS)
Rexy replied to Mirby's topic in General Discussion
The eShop seemed to be back online this morning. Managed to get the software update and am ready for the Wonder Trades. -
I'm definitely interested, but not in taking part; music wise I appear to be in Sonic burnout thanks to the TSSMA12 and the track done for Temporal Duality. I will however: * Have the doors wide open for anyone who wants me in one of their tracks (case in point: Liquid Metal 2 ) * Will air tracks from it on SEGA Mixer Drive during the compo's duration. Like last year's, we are itching to see what will come out of this one. Good luck guys

Pokémon X/Y and OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire (Gen6) (3DS)
Rexy replied to Mirby's topic in General Discussion
Likewise. I got X yesterday but I can't connect to the eShop to update it. Good thing I already knew that I shouldn't save at Luminose City. Gonna be kinda odd playing this without the updates first xD -
There was one in progress, but it eventually got canned. Some of the tracks from it did end up on OCR as individual mixposts though. Still, an OCR-based Animal Crossing project would be pretty nice though. I used to love playing the hell out of it until I realised the game punishes you for not playing it for so long xD

What I can say on the subject is if you love a game to death, go and give it a shot. When I first joined OCR, one of the first things I did was asked for a Crash Bandicoot remix in the requests area - must've been around 10 years ago. The thread never got picked up. So instead I dabbled into Crash when starting out on remixes. I made a few in my time, but eventually lost confidence thinking people won't like them because of the source material. But you know what finally encouraged me to try shooting Crash to OCR again? THIS MIXPOST BLURB. And in time I got to realise that what we send to OCR these days aren't dependant on what the listener wants, but more on the point of it recognising OCR's mission, whether the source material is popular or not. It also taught me a few things in regards to being happier remixing source material that absolutely resonates with me. Long story short, we don't care whether the game is good or bad, popular or known by few, old or new; if you tackle the source with OCR standards in mind above all else, then you've got a shot at making OCR history. Remember that mixpost blurb!
