  1. I've MADE IT! ...wait, since when did you extend to the 14th? I almost fell sick with everything I had going this week xD
  2. Dearest Alex, I HAVE A COMPLETE ARRANGEMENT. I just gotta tidy it up a bit and I can assure you, I will meet this deadline!
  3. Make it a good one for us, Bran! Say what you like about this particular member of the community, but you know my stance on him easily - the man that helped me get back into submitting to the judges' panel, helped me explore wacky new territory, and in addition has done a RIDICULOUS load for OC Remix already as well! (surely life can finally begin at 40, right? ). I don't know Chiwalker quite as well in comparison, but I just LOVE the fact that his OC Remix debut covered a game I played the hell out as a kid. I'm hoping he'd stick around; maybe not quite get to Brandon's ridiculous level, but it'll also be good to see what other territory he can explore - first impressions are akin to PrototypeRaptor's early work in regards to nostalgic coverage, so this has to keep up! Get in there you two lucky devils
  4. It's bizarre, as a teenager I was frightened to death when witnessing a Game Over screen on Resident Evil 2. So it's natural that I felt that all game violence since then would be at that same level and thus prompted me to stay away with anything that had what can be considered these days to be a PEGI 16+ rating. But it also seems that as the gaming industry has grown, so has a fascination for that kind of game. Granted I'd prefer fantasy elements because to me, videogames can be seen as a way to create new realities, not to replicate it. And while realistic gun violence can be seen as replication, the fact remains though that it's not something you'd see on a regular basis and thus would see a different - if not even MORE gone to hell - perception of the world. It doesn't mean I can't withstand violence - to me, a combination of that and its disturbing content was one reason why I had put myself off from playing The Binding of Isaac for months. When I DID get around to playing it, my focus was purely on pushing myself through the game's punishing gauntlets. Sure, it may have arguably the heaviest amount of cartoon gore I have seen, but Team Meat knew their target audience well and really made it work with the old-school-style difficulty that just drew me in. Whichever is the case, I am more open to videogame violence as I was around 15 years ago. However, that still doesn't change the fact that I wouldn't play a game that primarily focuses on gun violence just to get my gaming fix - as implied with the preference on fantasy settings, the kind of gameplay at the end of the day just doesn't interest me personally.
  5. I gave this one a chance, I tried my hardest to try and like it, but here's my biggest problem - I can not hear the source material anywhere, and I know Sonic CD enough to know what Palmtree Panic's past version sounds like. Perhaps this is more likely to be "inspired" by the source material? If so, it's going to stand a better chance getting attention if moved to PYO. :\
  6. I'm game to give this a go again. I don't know how the hell I'm supposed to top last year's guest appearance on DusK's track though o_O
  7. I haven't tried transferring to non-iPod portable players through iTunes, but one thing I did in the past with iTunes purchases was converted into MP3 and transferred them onto my old MP3 players through Windows Explorer. And yes, if you use Windows you CAN play them through iTunes themselves. Lol, though to me an audio casette would be nice
  8. Not at all. I've used iTunes for years and I'm a Windows junkie, so you should be good with that
  9. So basically: A) I came off as furious, which wasn't my intention. My comments apparently scare people off, which also isn't my intention. C) Every new face wants to help out, and that's great. But even the greats here have received help to get as far as they are at this point. On that point, if you want your music to sound better without relying on Soundcloud or Bandcamp for that sort of thing, perhaps signing up on Dropbox would help? There's no limitations for MP3 encoding there, and you have 2GB of storage to work with for free. A lot of artists use Dropbox for hosting remixes to send off to the panel or entries for the site's competitions. Talking of which, the competitions are a good frequent place to practice your skills if you're keen to remix and meet new people, and a lot of artists got their starts through these too. Stop beating yourself up and pay a visit
  10. This isn't in any relation to the remix itself, but I have something to ask you. See, like you, we here at OverClocked Remix enjoy making remixes to share with the rest of the community. It may take some balls to pass the panel, but when we do the relief of seeing them get posted really pays off, and what's better is that our work is shown for people to get for free - high-end amateur arrangements for no cost. Having said that, let me ask this question - do you seriously expect anyone to buy any of your remixes on Bandcamp for a dollar each? I'm not saying they're 'crappy' bad, just arrangement-wise they don't go anywhere and are all the same cookie-cutter trance that reminds me of OC Remix's fledgling days. If you're expecting people to come in here and approve of your work and raise you some money, you're going to have to think twice about that I'm afraid. Please excuse me if I come off as harsh, but I just find it unusual that in the space of a few days, you'd share off a few finished works, sell them on Bandcamp and share them all here expecting lots of praise. I've seen other OC Remix artists use Bandcamp (Brandon Strader, Benjamin Briggs and Dj Mokram at the top of my head, though there may be others) but have admitted to struggle to raise money regardless of the quality of their music. If you want to sell them, then fair play, but this practice isn't winning me over. Sorry
  11. As promised, went through the album on tonight's SEGA Mixer Drive - what a wild ride that was! Thank you all for coming along and contributing to the show, and I give you all my regards for the swift work on the album
  12. Heard it on last night's NGI. Congratulations you two! If anyone just so happened to miss last night's show, I'll be running through the whole thing on Friday's SEGA Mixer Drive (2PM Eastern), so if anyone wants to come along, feel free!
  13. Indeed, the challenge with this one is actually figuring out which section sounds like which person would typically write that sort of thing. Thanks for the reactions all!
  14. I'm pretty sure it's been later than that, Coop. (Warning: for anyone who tunes into SEGA Mixer Drive, expect a LOT of 'early installment weirdness' here.) I'm gonna shoot for the party on this one. DusK and Mokram meant well
  15. Not that one, mind you. There's six at the last line here. Grammar snob is me. But enough's enough. I'll stop chewing your haikus Into pieces now. *
  16. You're doing it wrong... It's not six syllables for The second line! Let's get back on track. I'm not even on this thing, But I'm really stoked! DusK and Mokram bros, You've really pulled this thing off. Congratulations! The advance party Over at NGI will No doubt be swell, yes? And so will next week! It's when SEGA Mixer Drive Will also play it :3 I'll stop these haikus; They are making my hands hurt From too much typing. >_>
  17. I have it on the PS3. Mascot platformers still have life yet!
  18. I don't know if this is my place to speak for Callum or not, but if I recall correctly, one of his reference tracks for making the track was indeed "Que Sera Sera" from the Katamari Damacy OST. That track also was a good surprise in the first remix contest for this album, and I'm so glad it made the cut too =)
  19. Even though I have a 3DS myself, I have to say I'm down with the idea of giving a child a sturdier alternative to play their first videogames on. I even mentioned in conversations regarding the subject that you'd benefit from the 2DS if the 3D feature is a health risk to you (yes I know there's a slider, but that's beside the point) and/or you simply don't want to pay some extra money for a fancy graphical effect. I bought the 3DS because its game library was finally starting to build up - not because of some fancy effect. And I am saying this from the point of view of someone who has been following Nintendo's handhelds since the days of the original Game Boy. Talking of which, did any of you guys ever had your old Game Boys sent away for repair as a child? Those were sturdy machines and could last for years when handled right - heck, even my deep pink GBC is still working today. I don't know if my personal experience with past systems isn't the same as anyone else's, but let's face it - it's easier for a child to snap a 3DS in half than it is to smash an original Game Boy into pieces. Now I don't know what kind of build the 2Ds would have - it may be as sturdy as modern day smartphones, or maybe more fragile than the PSP, but who knows; the point is that the decision to make the 2DS "unfoldable" works for the intended target audience. Still, all we can do is just wait and see how it fares at retail. We shrugged off the original DS as a stupid idea, as well as the Wii and Wii U, but Nintendo likes pulling off risks and often it goes in their favor financially (except for the Wii U, but that's for another thread). It may go well for the 2DS, but we'll just see about that.
  20. I've used Magix Movie Edit Pro for years and while it does have its moments, it's inexpensive (latest version costs £40, or £80 if you want the premium) and has enough functionability for me to get by. I've done all of my Youtube videos with that one, including my project perspectives. Works great on Windows too
  21. Congratulations Eino! =) Yep, rare for me to pop into a compo thread full stop, but when I saw OMG RISTAR being involved this week, I thought this might be something to keep an eye on. It's a tricky source to go for as well - has its moment of structure, but melody sounds so difficult to work with, and you managed to push a great arrangement idea out of that one. I am indeed considering your track for this week's SEGA Mixer Drive as well - you'll get my support on air
  22. Solo piano = orchestral? News to me. Glad you enjoyed the track nevertheless!
  23. Best. Birthday thread. EVER. Stevo, play that shit
