  1. Like in SH4? Henry hasn't done anything bad. At all. Not really anything good either. He was just at the wrong place, at the wrong time, having no real purpose whatsoever. It bothered me. He had no personality either. EDIT: The Chibi Silent Hill 2 Comic is now finally completed. People have been waiting for the last few endings to be portrayed, and now they have. If you haven't read CSH2, then you're missing out on something wonderful. At first it's just really funny, but later on gets really deep, and gives new perspective to the game. Quite ingenious at times. Link: http://knickknack.deviantart.com/journal/2864652/
  2. Sounds like an interesting idea. I know I'd play it, but there would need to be some sort of story involved. And is the world and style of everything supposed to be wacky/funny, or dark and grim?
  3. I have Trojan. It's not that bad, it's just hard. Check out the Angry Nintendo Nerd at YouTube. He "reviews" the worst NES games he can find. It's awesome, and funny as hell. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=JamesNintendoNerd
  4. When making an AMV, I find it that if you use an epic song, it's very difficult not to get it boring. Some videos out there survive on the song alone, because people don't think too often about the connection between music and video. Songs like "Requiem for a dream" always make videos sound awesome, no matter what it is. Then the video editing doesn't usually matter. Or, you could use cool video things like clips from FFVII: Advent Children, and everyone will be impressed by that aswell. That, too, is false praise I think. To get a good connection between the song and the video, you can do one of the following: Use a song with a certain beat to it, or that has stonger beats here and there in it, and then sync up events with those (for example if there is an extra hard beat somewhere, you can sync up someone getting punched in the face with it, or maybe an explosion). Example: My own first AMV, where I spent hours trying to find a good song to use. Another way to do it is to have lyrics in the song, that describe things that you can show visually with clips from the game/anime, and therefor tell the "story" of the song, using the game/anime. Example: My second AMV. All made in Adobe Premiere (which I learned slowly during the process of making these) And sorry for the pimpage, I just thought they might make good examples. And, ofcourse, there are lots of other ways to make good AMVs, but these are the ones I've used. Hope any of this helped.
  5. Bump! Just don't want this thread to disappear. You never know what might happen!
  6. I have a hardcore trekkie friend, whom I've asked about Star Trek numeruos times, and he always has the answer. I've asked him this aswell, and here's what he told me: The Borg was originally just one species that wanted to improve themselves, so they did so with technology. They wanted to reach perfection, which is still their main goal, and they then started to assimilate other species and their traits, using their new technological abilities, so that they can combine them all, and get closer to perfection, leaving out the bad parts of each species. You could say that this original species was, well, Species 1. This can really be assumed by anyone, but I trust my friend deeply when it comes to Star Trek.
  7. Mind posting a link? That's a great episode. Also, I like flutes (I think it stems from whistling a lot, and Ocarina of Time...). I think I still have that episode on tape somewhere... Mouser X out. Here is a link to a streaming of the orchestral suite made from that song: http://www.trekconnection.com/sounds/mp3/tng2.asp Just scroll down and you'll find it. That's a shorter version though. At home I have a 6+ minute long version of it, and that's the one I've looped. I can't put it on my server for download though, since I'm not at home, but I do have this recording from the show (both from the Inner Light, and the later episode where Picard plays a duet with Darren on piano.) http://www.starzander.com/tings/light.mp3 It is in pretty good quality, and very nice to listen to. The piano does alot. Enjoy.
  8. I am one of those who love Voyager. It might be because it's the first series I watched, but I still enjoy the characters and plots very much. I loved the developments and struggles the characters all went through, and the fact that they are exploring completely unknown space and species'. They suffer casualties, but none of them are meaningless. Actually, it can be a very emotional series, but I like that most of the time. My favorite character is probably the doctor, and his developments. 7 of 9 is also a very good character, and she is much like the doctor because she's trying to go from being mostly technological, to being more human. Some might say they are both rip-offs of Data, but I don't mind. Data was a good character aswell, but he was all good, and he wanted more than anything to be human. The Doctor really just wanted more respect and recognition, and not just be treated as a hologram. 7 of 9 didn't really want to become human, as it was very strange to her. She felt more safe in the Borg way of "life". Also, she was already human, and trying to both embrace that part and ignore it, at the same time. The fact that she wore a ridiculously revealing bodysuit is really irrelevant. Janeway did a good job as a captain, and I like it that she was very persistent in following the rules and directives of the federation, even though they were so far away from eachother. The rest of the cast does a good job aswell. I watched all the episodes of TNG aswell, and I must say I was disappointed in the first couple of seasons, as they built the episodes all wrong. The first 40 minutes are like the beginning of a movie, with a intriquite (sp?) plot, and it seems pretty good, but then they realise "Oh crap, we only have 5 minutes left to finish off this episodes story!" so they skip a shitload of explaining, and just wrap it all up way too fast. They got better at that later on in the series though. Favorite episode? The Inner Light. Love that tune Picard plays. Got the mp3 and listened to it over and over and over again.
  9. I might make something from ICO... We'll see, if I get the time. Awesome choice of theme.
  10. So, the Silent Hill movie (finally) came out on DVD here in Sweden, Wednesday this week, and sometimes we get some extra stuff, since we get everything so late, but not this time. The only extra stuff on the DVD was the "Making of..." video, and I think we've all seen that by now. Too bad. Just a little bump.
  11. Here's a nice little bump. For all of you who have enjoyed Knickknacks Silent Hill 2 Chibi comic, here is the first part of its flashversion. More will come soon. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/334798
  12. BUMP Can't let this thread just die. Too much information lies here!

  14. I thought this game was called Lylatwars? Atleast in Europe. I have the game Lylatwars, which is Starfox for Nintendo 64.
  15. Oh yeah, I saw the movie last week, on the Swedish premiere. It was average. They could have made several things better, and I laughed at some things that probably wasn't meant to be laughed at, but it was still a very satisfactory game movie. Best one yet, imo. I think they should have portayed Pyramid Head a bit more. Now he was just like any other monster, although more gruesome. When Rose was going down to see the demon, I though PH would be there. But no. When Alessa was going to kill all the churchpeople, I thought she would call out PH to do her dirtywork. But no. I thought we would get so see a bigger fight with PH. But no. I just wanted more PH. I liked the way they ended the movie. It could have ended with them just driving into the mist, and then roll the credits, but when they were driving home, I suspected something was wrong, because of all the mist, so I kept hoping it wouldn't have a "happily ever after"-ending, with Rose and Sharon reuniting with Christopher. I liked what they did there, a lot. Also, they skipped Samael completely, and set Alessa as the "God" instead of the mohter of God. They should have kept the original story on that part. I'm pretty happy though, that they won't be making another film. They got everything they could out of the games, without ruining them.
  16. My hopes still lie in MegaMan. And if he actually gets to be in the game, I hope it's the NES version of him. X was only cool in the first game. If he's not a main character, he could be a semi-clone to Samus. Mostly because of the chargeable Buster. I call him. Cid. and chocobos and moogles. SSBB with a moogle. That's kind of true. Not about Cid, since he's been different in every game, but with Moogles... They have always been Moogles. They would probaby fit perfectly in the game aswell.
  17. Well, since this is an SSB thread, then I should be able to get some help with Melee, right? Well, here's my problem: About a week ago, I got SSBM, and have been playing ot all the time (ofcourse), and I'm trying to beat everything. I've gotten all the characters, and right now I'm working on beating the Home-Run Contest. Atleast get 1500 ft, but the best I've done is about 1100 ft (not sure, since in my game it's in meters). So... How should I do this? What character should I use? I've read in some places that I should use Yoshi or Ice Climbers, and I've tried a few strategies people have posted, but I don't understand it all. They confuse me. So... Any pointers, or strategies for a guy who knows of no SSBM terms at all?
  18. Yes, it has been posted many many times, since way back when the first episode was released. It is a very good animated series, especially for being fan made. For all those of you who haven't seen i yet, I highly recommend it.
  19. Umm... Haven't I posted links to this a few times already? It wasn't even that long ago. (I remember discussing it with parjay on here.) Oh, well, I guess that's another reason for me to compose an essential links list. *Ahem* The Making of Silent Hill 3 was released by PlayStation World magazine (a publication exclusive to the United Kingdom) on the bonus DVD in issue #37. I believe the magazine also featured information and a video as well for Metal Gear Solid 3, which makes it a highly popular item, thus very rare to find. (I've asked Eccles before if he had access to this magazine, but he claims to have never come across it.) Some fans have been kind enough to have ripped the video and hosted it on the internet, DUST (formerly Dustfungus) most prominently. The video itself was produced by WE Productions (a studio originally a part of FunTV France, later it's own production studio), the same company to have made the "Making of Silent Hill 2" documentary. However, the video was only released in PlayStation World as opposed to the Europe-wide release of "Silent Hill 2: Special Version." Technically, the "Making of Silent Hill 3" documentary is about the same as the one for SH2, but for some reason, a large chunk of the video is untranslated (on the original print). It has been speculated that this was simply a production error on the fault of the translator/scripter, and not an intentional ommission due to permission issues. The untranslated section has been roughly translated on the forums, which explains that Masahiro Ito's monster designs were inspired by religious paintings, not so much by the subject matter, but for the depiction of suffering and disfigurement placed in the background, particularly the inspiration for the Insane Cancer. I might add that this, or atleast a very similar, DVD disc was released in Sweden aswell, with the magazine SuperPLAY. I have this magazine and the disc, with the making of SH3 on it, and the MGS3 thing. Quite interesting to watch. EDIT: All of it has subtitles aswell, from what I can remember. I have to watch it again some day...
  20. Side note: This thread just reached 100 pages. A big "w00t" to all of us who have been with it from the beginning, and a nice "cool" to all of you who came here after a while. That is all.
  21. Some info about the movie, but I don't know if it's been posted before or not. Maybe spoiler though. *SPOILER* According to the cast list on imdb, both Henry Townshend and Eddie Dombrowski will appear in the film. I have no idea what they will be doing there. Eddie might be running around again killing people, and Henry might run around being boring. Who knows. Interesting though.
  22. I just finished something that I wanted to show you all. It's just some photomanipulation, and it features Pyramid Head, but I like it, and the feelings it emanates. Enjoy. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/31467708/
  23. Or you know, success could depend on the quality of filmmaking combined with the fact that the world is actually getting a movie based on the Silent Hill games. You're the type of person, with your cockamamey theories and shit, that will never allow the movie to be enjoyed because the filmmaker might not have made the film that fits with your arduous and drawn-out vision of the game. Just enjoy the fact that Silent Hill fans are getting a movie at all, and don't peg success of the movie on all these BS notions that a handful of hardcore fans may subscribe to. I really feel I have to defend ifirit here. He makes more theories than anyone (here atleast), to give people as many perspectives on the games as possible. If you want to keep it simple, or just in your own perspective, then you don't have to read his theories. ifirit probably knows more about Silent Hill and everything around it, than anyone else in the world. But he's still just a fan, and I've known him for quite some time now, and I can promise you that it won't matter if the movie sucks or is loved by the entire world, because he will enjoy it and most likely love it either way. Because it is Silent Hill. When he speaks of it's success, he's speaking in a general sense, and what the general public will think. He's not saying "I won't like the movie unless it's exactly like this and that and whatever.", he's just trying to predict what people will think, and I think he's pretty accurate, because he's very thorough in his research, and is usually right in these things. I'm sorry if I misunderstood some things, I'm just speaking from my experience as a good friend of ifirits, and I just felt I needed to defend him. That's all.
