  1. Wow, this sounds really great. I think it has a pretty good pace, but even faster might be even better. I'm looking forward to hearing this in its finished version!
  2. I will be updating the main post, with links to all the different ocarina songs, so that you can listen to them and then maybe have an easier time to decide. The cave/battle theme is a great track, and there just has to be a fitting ocarina song for it. Great! Send me a PM if you want to claim a track.
  3. You have some speed issues here, it's very uneven. Some parts are much slower than they should be, while a few notes here and there are sped up, and it just makes it feel out of sync. This could be a great mellow track, but you need to decide on a speed for it. Have the background instruments slow and ambient, as you do now, but the foreground instruments like the violin and piano, should maybe be sped up a bit, but just a little bit, so that it all syncs. Sorry I can't give you any timestamps, the player on the site you linked to didn't want to show me the time index of the song properly (could be my browser).
  4. Ah, thank you. I have been looking for those rules, but I hadn't seen this forum category.
  5. Thanks for the support! Well, at this stage you can mostly just spread the word. But if you think of anything you can do that might benefit the project, then send me a PM and we'll talk.
  6. Hello everyone! Hylian Melodies is a ReMix project aimed not at a single game in the series, but at the entire franchise. It does have a basis though, and that is in the different ocarina songs from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. The idea is that when a remixer has chosen a song they wish to use, they also have to pick a second or more songs (there is no limit, as long as you make the ocarina song apparent) of their own choosing, from the entire franchise, and then mix these together. They can use as much or as little of either the ocarina-song or the second song as they wish, as long as you can identify the ocarina-song in the track somehow. They can of course use more than one song to mix with the ocarina song. Also, if they can direct the mood of the song towards how the ocarina-song is, that would be great, but it's not a requirement. Rules: * If you want to sign up, then either write in this thread, or (preferably) send me a PM, with your idea * Choose carefully when you choose your source material. You can only pick ONE Ocarina song, but as many other Zelda songs as you want, with a few exceptions of overly remixed tracks (such as Gerudo valley for example). * In order to qualify for the project, there are some rules to the arrangement itself: When arranging them, it must be a proper arrangement. Placing the source materials next to each other in a medley with different instruments does NOT qualify as an arrangement. * Your chosen tracks need to be apparent in the final product. The Ocarina song always needs to be recognizable, but it does not have to take the lead in the entire song if you don't want it to. The other tracks can be as much up front or in the background as you want. * In order for me to know that you can stick to the rules, I need to hear something of your previous work. If possible, if you have anything where two or more tracks are being mixed together, I'd like to hear it. If you have been posted on OCReMix then I see that as a sign of quality, but I still need to hear your ideas for this project. Here is the track list: Zelda's Lullaby Song of Storms + Title screen (OoT) (Tuberz McGee) + (Andy_Frank) + (Theophany) + Sanctuary (LttP) (Aaron Marshall) + (Cerrax) + + Ice Cavern (OoT) (Phonetic Hero) Goron's Lullaby New Wave Bossa Nova + No song selected yet (wildfire) + + (Chernabogue)We could also have the ocarina/flute songs from A Link to the Past and even the first Zelda game, as bonus tracks for the album, if there is enough interest. Other contributors: Bakuri, available for female vocals collab ( )IntoTheSky, available for male vocals and drums collab (Sample) Chris | Amaterasu, available for violin collab (Sample) ChibiBritt, available for female vocals collab (Sample) Project status: Recruiting Sigs: Let me know what you think, and if you'd like to sign up or help out in any other way.
  7. I actually did the same, when I first had a playstation but no memory card, but I did it with a rented Final Fantasy VII. I died on some boss though, on disc 2. After that, I didn't rent any more games until I had a memory card.
  8. I say let's take it one step further back, and just have it so that if you turn off the power or reset the game, you have to start from the beginning of the game again. No passwords, no save files, nothing. Just beat it all in one sitting.
  9. I was always a huge Megaman fan, and when my sister got me Bionic Commando for the NES, I loved it to pieces. Especially the music. I really liked BCR and even the big BC sequal, or whatever you might call it. I had been hoping for a new BC game ever since the first one. I find it strange that Capcom dropped that series so fast back then...
  10. Mega man 2 for NES. It was at a smaller event, but everyone else went to eat at first, but I was going to eat later, so I sat down by one of the game consoles and started playing Mega man 2, to see if I could still beat it fast. After a while, people draw nearer and ate while watching me play, and ended up being maybe 20 people watching me beat it in about 45 minutes.
  11. I must say I like the trailer for the new game. And about having Daniel Licht as the music director, I can't help but being downright excited about it. He made the great, and eerie, music for Dexter and I'm guessing he did the music in the trailer as well, so that just makes me even more excited. I thought Homecoming was okay, but I hope this one improves upon the most lacking detail in Homecoming: the locations. They were mostly repetative and boring, no real soul to them. Not like the Prison in SH2, or the asylum in SH: Origins. Also, isn't it yet another new company developing this game? Or is it the same team as in Homecoming?
  12. Some recommendations for PSP: * Valkyrie Profile Lenneth (just bought it myself, and is a lot of fun so far) * LocoRoco * Patapon * FFVII: Crisis Core * Silent Hill: Origins (scary even on portable. no small feat!) * Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops * Daxter * God of War: Chains of Olympus
  13. This thread is horribly inactive! This mix needs to be finished, as OCR needs more Metroid Prime love!
  14. Um, you can't submit anything anymore. Why would you need to, with the Remixanator?
  15. My long sought dream has finally been realized! I have done an electronica mix of Schala's theme! I don't like to brag, but I must say my style is quite unique and the Remixanator picked up on that instantly. This is the tool of Musical Gods!
  16. Grattis på födelsedagen! That's Swedish for "Go to hell", in polite form. Just kidding.
  17. Yeah, that's true. I guess both him and Sakaguchi gave it their all with this game. I didn't really like this game, compared to the others in the series, but the music was stellar at least, so this project has a really good foundation, and with the talents of OCR in the mix, it should really end up being just as amazing. Wish I could help.
  18. This might just be nitpicking, but the first post states that the FFIX soundtrack is said to be Uematsu's favorite in the series, but I have always heard that it was the FFVIII soundtrack he liked the most. This was also said during one of the Distant Worlds concerts, which he was attending. This was probably the reason why FFVIII was the most represented game at that concert. However, I do always hear/read that FFIX is Hironobu Sakaguchi's favorite game of the series. [/nitpick]
  19. First of all, I feel the need to defend Silent Hill: Origins, as I thought it was a great game. It managed to frighten me, even though it was handheld, and the locations in the game were amazing (especially the sanitarium) and the overall feel of the game was very much Silent Hill. Homecoming failed me in these aspects. The story was exciting, and I didn't mind the combat system. And about him being able to use and carry TVs and stuff, the only game where such physics DIDN'T exist, was SH4. I mean, carrying around the great knife in SH2? And the expendable weapons seemed like a good idea to me. That actually worked pretty well in SH4, although I managed to break most of my weapons. Atleast this time I didn't have to go back to my apartment to get more weapons all the time. Second, about Akira Yamaoka leaving Konami, I just have one thing to say. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Third, I'm excited about Shattered Memories (although I'd kind of forgotten about it until recently), and I'm going to miss the combat and the classic statement "Huh, radio. What's going on with that radio." but if there's puzzles galore, then I'm in!
  20. He can always write the script from prison. They are allowed pen and paper, aren't they?
  21. That's what this was for: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_trek_countdown
  22. This morning the verdict of the trial against the founders of the torrent site, The Pirate Bay, were sentenced to 1 year of prison and a fine of about 30 million Swedish kronor (~$3,5 million). This won't affect the torrent tracker though, as they have moved their servers abroad and they have several other people working with it anyways. http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2009/04/pirateverdict.html This is another big blow to filesharing in Sweden, as the first of this month witnessed a new law taking effect, called IPRED, which gives record companies and others who are having their material illegally shared the means to get the IP number of ANY person in the country who have been sharing illegally. They can then send a fine to that person directly, or a threat to drag them to court. This is all very scary. What will happen to the internets?
  23. I used to play that as a kid, on my old 386 computer! Wow, that was like 15 years ago or something. I loved that game! If I ever get an iPhone, I will definitely get this game. Kudos!
  24. I was at the world premiere of this tour, in Stockholm, and the concert blew me away. It's really something you should go see, even if you're not an FF fan. I highly recommend it!
