  1. Yeah, stick with mp3, even though ogg is better than mp3, and even aac (debatably in general, but certainly for this purpose it's the case). I'm all for supporting ogg, but not at the cost of listeners. Now I would like to switch the conversation to why they went with the name Podcast and not showcast to avoid confusion, and why the iPod doesn't support ogg. not being serious here, unless you want to start a new thread
  2. That reminds me, those random movie clips really didn't sit well for me. They were cringeworthy, for lack of a better word. Getting some bumpers like at the beginning of the show would fix that.
  3. A few comments: Is it just me, or did you miss covering the Dark Side of Phobos (Doom) album in your list of remix projects? Rama Report was good, but he needs a new mic, or a better encoding. Re: WIPs, I'm gonna say I think only dealing with complete pieces is best, and then only stuff from the WIP:Other forum. Otherwise a good show.
  4. I'll get sorting this out later. Good stuff, since I don't always keep up with the whole VG scene.
  5. End of an era. We salute you, Larry.
  6. Now we've reached #1350, I'll get hosting the 1300-1350 rar. EDIT: Currently uploading the rar. It'll appear here along with the 1250-1300 rar.
  7. I'm just glad that "Tempted Teenager Treat Treated" crap made the cut from EAR Good job Shael, I'm rather critical of your fabled "Music Of My Groin", but this more than makes up for it, and proves you're not just a one trick pony (although to be fair, I knew that anyway).
  8. Just a question, is it possible that Larry won't be able to make up the back up shows before he leaves uni?
  9. I would, but as it is I need to register to simply use the torrent. Use Piratebay.org, that way anyone can access the torrent. It's in swedish, but the links you need should be obvious. PM me if you have any problems.
  10. It's not so much the number of files as it is the total filesize. Also, there's not much hassle in downloading 10 mixes. There's quite a bit more downloading 50. There's no real limits with BT (at least not minimum limits) though.
  11. I guess I meant that if we didn't have enough people participating, those that do would have to put up with my cable connection seeding the torrent, not that it's terrible, it's just no T3. I may take you up on that offer for help when I get a chance to do the torrents. I'll check out some hosting sites as well and see what I can find, as well as download ABC. Maybe having the torrents might work this time. Another thing that I think went wrong with the torrents was that the updates were too few in remix numbers, there was only an average of 10 a month. A torrent I think needs at least 25, probably more. Also, remixes 1251-1300 rar available. 1301-1350 rar coming soon.
  12. One thing that I agree with you on is that the previous torrents weren't that well advertised, but to be honest there's not much you can really do apart from make a thread about it, and post in this thread. Having torrent links on the front page/on mix download pages would be a nice idea, but I'm not sure if Dave would like the idea of having "official" torrents before the lockdowns, plus it'd be extra effort on his plate rather than mine.I somewhat dispute the lack of seeding argument though, since I seeded all of the torrents I made for at least the first two weeks. However, during those two weeks I had at most 2 people downloading the torrent. Torrents after that were even worse. As for the mechanics of making a torrent, I used ABC (Yet Another Bittorrent Client), which has a "Make torrent option. From there you can make a .torrent file and upload that to a bittorrent hub (I used Piratebay, but with the recent spate of MPAA lawsuits I doubt it'll be up now). There's a few fields you'll need to fill in when making a torrent which I might be able to help with, but I haven't made a torrent since December. EDIT: I'm in the process of uploading a 1251-1300 rar package. I'll post the link when it's up.
  13. Thanks for the info, I was not aware the 1500 mark had not yet been reached. Would you direct me to the thread you spoke of? (the rar file) We're currently at 1342.Liontamer only hosted the rar files for a short time, while he had no shows to host on his webspace. I'll see about getting 1251-1300 up tonight. EDIT: mathphileBill, I did a few torrents a while back of mixes not already covered by torrents, but it was unpopular enough to be sustainable. I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. And the error you're probably getting is regards to email notification. It doesn't affect the post itself.
  14. Next torrent will be at 1500, at which the 1000-1250 torrent will be assimilated into a 1000-1500 torrent. In the meantime though, you'll have to download anything after 1250 separately. Liontamer hosted a rar file featuring 1250-1323 a while ago, and I may revisit my month batches idea from earlier, but instead make 50 remix batches. I'll probably do that once 1350 is out.
  15. Things may of changed since I got broadband, but I had little trouble getting the show when I had dial-up. Sure, it wasn't perfect in sound, but buffering wasn't that apparant. That seems to be a moot point though right now.
  16. Convert it to FLAC, since you'll get much better compression on the wav.I might be able to help on the FTP, just need to clear some things. EDIT: PM'd you with FTP details.
  17. Seriously, I want this aftershow ASAP. Everything else can wait. Apart from Uni, of course. EDIT: Page 100!
  18. There shouldn't be any technical problems. Just dial the number with the international prefixes, etc. and it should work like normal. Just be weary of what you're paying, especially if you're using BT.
  19. Do you guys feel invaded? As for Bladiator...you guys have so little confidence in your favorite "Mulatto Stallion." Sure, Larry doesn't have the charm with the ladies or the romantic skills at the piano like Bladiator. Sure he isn't 6'7" with whispy blonde hair and soulfull blue eyes... And sure, he recently sired little D'Kwandishawn leaving him forever bound to a woman whose name sounds like some dangerous kind of sushi... But he's got one thing the B-Unit will never have--- The complete episodes of Batman: The Animated Series on cd. Actually, I think he's got that too.
  20. On the subject of singing in Japanese, I saw little criticism of Star Salzman's Hebrew/Arabic singing in Pillar Of Salt (great mix, check it out if you haven't already), and the mispronunciations that there inevitably was in his singing. Just seems to me that people are ragging on pixietricks singing in Japanese because it's Japanese. Maybe I'm wrong though.
  21. Been listening to this since it came around in the WIP forums, and seen its many revisions. This is probably the best version out of the lot. It's not as dark as I'd of liked (like the source track) but hey, that's what this site is all about, reinterpreting the originals differently, and it does that pretty well, and uniquely too. It's a keeper.
  22. Perhaps run the event in tandem, so there's backup in case one of the forums is down? Nobody really needs to see other peoples votes, but they could if they wanted to.
