  1. That.... was actually rather funny. While it's probably not Gordan Freeman's voice, was really awesome. The host seemed to just eat it all up, which makes it that much richer.
  2. Yeah, I just checked out the textures, and there's still only one wood planks texture, so, so far, there's no use for the new trees aside from making biomes look even more distinct, or using the new logs as different building blocks. I was kinda hoping for some different plank colors based on the different woods.
  3. Spiders climb walls? Well, beans. Looks like I'm going to have to put a roof on my hole-in-the-ground house after all. What a bummer. Dyes are nice though. I'll finally be able to carpet my floor with something other than white.
  4. I've still got those 16 tracks from our original tests on the new map if you want them. I know it's not much, but I'm not going to be using them. As far as mods are concerned, I'm using just a small handful that sweeten up the graphics a bit. I'm using a modified version of the Linecraft terrain texture along with Hozz's 32x32 Item Sprites as placeholders. The terrain textures have been edited to use the Biome Colors on the Sides of Grass mod. On top of that, I've got Better Light running. Of course, Linecraft and the icons are 32x32 pixel textures, so I'm using the HD Texture Fix patcher so that everything meshes and looks perfect. I've been working on a few of the other textures, like mobs, the moon, and even the biome tree and grass color textures. I still need to take a look at the GUI type stuffs too. Still, it's a pretty nice setup.
  5. Happy birthday, dude. Hope you have a good one.
  6. What? I don't know of a single other game where the alpha is or has been even remotely playable. Beta is usually the stage where developers open it up to the testers so they can polish all the bugs out. What's funny is that it's actually a game you can play in it's current state. =P
  7. I'd add Uncharted 3 onto that list, but either way, the teasers got me quite excited. Most of these seem to be coming out around the same time. 2011's going to have an expensive holiday season....
  8. Yeah, he is. I think he can roll with us.
  9. Dang. Y'know, I actually enjoyed what little I played of it. It was a very unique kind of MMO, and showed some interesting potential because of it. They released it too early though, and it's really cost them.
  10. Looks like you've got some screen space ambient occlusion going on in there. Are you using a mod to achieve that effect or have I just been away from Minecraft for too long, and that's a standard feature now? Oh, nice work, by the way.
  11. Nice to see people diggin' it. I stopped working on this when I ran out of OCR-esque references to make. I'm pretty knowledgeable with my OCR references, but I'm sure I'm missing some stuff. A deck of UnMod cards? VGDJ/OCAD-related something? I dunno. If anyone has any ideas, I might doodle some more on it when I get home. It's the reverse, actually. I used the sketch to make my sig as I usually do. I started this image sometime mid-summer I think, so it's been a while since I actually worked on it. The clock is of Queue Tortoise, a boss from the proposed OCR-tan game. I figured he'd make a nice clock since he kind of is one himself. If the game comes to fruition, he'll make more sense there. So, no the clock doesn't actually exist.
  12. Yeah, I guess I've been kinda slackin' lately. I do have a bunch of doodles that I should compile, but I don't really have the time as I'm leaving for my folks' house in a short while. Oh, it's still unfinished, but I could post this, I suppose.
  13. Interesting thing about creativity: Typically, the more tools and resources you have at your disposal, the less inspired/creative you will be. Limiting what you can do, and what you can use means you are forced to be creative to fully realize what it is you have in your mind. As to the duping thing, I've never done it, nor will I ever be tempted to. Do I care if others dupe? Not really. Unless, of course, it harms the server, because that's very obviously affecting other people and their ability to play.
  14. My guess would be that he's using Simple Map.
  15. I kind of liked that people were bunched up. I think there could have been a little more distance between places but, it kind of felt like a community that way. If there's a way to set an area under preservation such that no one is allowed to make changes to it, I'd like to have a really nice, beautiful spawn area; preferably inland. Something like a central square with a fountain in the middle, and a big compass rose on the ground so there's absolutely no confusion as to where you're headed. From there, set up four highways/roads/paths heading out in each cardinal direction and leading to other points of interest like player homes or creeper temples or large works of art. If a canal system is implemented, make sure it's nice and wide. You can still accidentally bump into walls with our current one. Also, signs. Some big lit up ones—much like BottleRocket's—could be set up over the highways explaining which region you're heading into, and signposts would then detail the specifics of what's in said region. Here's a quick diagram of what I'm picturing in my mind: With a bit of pre-planning and coordination, we can have a scenic and easy-to-travel spawn point that also helps newbies get acquainted with what's where.
  16. So I was looking around at various Minecraft mods and saw something that caught my eye. It's called Builder Bot and it's a program/bot for admins (though it looks like it comes with it's own white list so anyone could potentially use it). But this is what really caught my eye: "Copy & Paste 2D or 3D areas of the map from one part of the map to another, or due to how a chunk of the map is saved to your computer, to other servers." If transferring chunks of one map to another is possible, it might be worth looking into, so we can keep our cool stuff. A program such as this could mean that we can fairly quickly reorganize where our buildings are located. You could build your house out in Tumblefuck, but realize that it's too far from everyone else and ask for a relocation. Or, say you made a really awesome statue and would like another. Easy-peasy.
  17. Assuming every post in the comments section is a unique person wanting the game, and I've done my math correctly, they've only got roughly $42,720.00 right now (assuming 3DS games will be similar in price to DS games). That's not going to sway them. I think we need more people.
  18. Haha! I was actually very prepared for this to happen. It's still a bummer to hear, though.
  19. I'm imagining court days from Ace Attorney with Phoenix versus Layton, and the two working together to solve Professor Layton-esque puzzles to gather evidence—instead of randomly ambling around examining every pixel on the screen like Nick usually does.
  20. I wouldn't mind. The fun is in the creation. Of course there is the tedium of melting all that sand into glass. But whatever. This time, I'll make it even bigger!
  21. Full Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJpjP67sYb8 EDIT: A quick translation from a friend. There may be errors in this, but might satiate some curiosities. Layton: The one who threw this city into disorder using her powers of magic, is you! Girl: You're wrong. I am not a witch. Layton: If that is so, then how did you know the contents of a book there is no way you read? Phoenix: Objection! Phoenix: Professor, there is a great contradiction in your argument! Strange incidents are occuring in "Labyrinth City" An archaeology professor vs. a lawyer. A shocking incident that challenges both of them. Witch Trials. Luke: What's written in this book is becoming true. Maya: No way this is happening! The creator of everything who rules the city The ultimate culprit, "Storyteller" Girl: I will surely be killed. It said so in the book. Phoenix: I will not let things happen the way they're in the book. Layton: Mr. Wright. Layton: It seems we had a great misunderstanding. Hershel Leyton Phoenix Wright A shocking collaboration Layton: Luke, doing the right thing is not limited to keeping the law. Phoenix: Honestly, he can't be satisfied easily, that Silk Hat. Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney Level 5 x Capcom This time the riddles are filled with contradictions
  22. Oh wow. This was unexpected. I am very much looking forward to this!
  23. Of everything that I've seen from Notch himself, he has said that old saves will update. Biomes will even be added beyond the areas that have already been loaded, and hell portals will exist in the old maps. It was, however, never specified whether or not this was SMP or single-player only. You should be able to find more info here.
  24. Nice work! I wait for the other episodes with much anticipation. Also, I think he might be talking about Shinobu from No More Heroes 2.
