  1. At the end of Brawl Taunts 2 (a decently funny flash on NG) the guy who made it drew himself into the animation and says "now it's just time to wait for someone to post it on YouTube without crediting us" *gives evil stare at the viewers*
  2. Oh, That's lame! they made it so you have to sign up to download. *shakes fist at soundclick* Thank you for your comments and suggestions though. I like the idea of changing the solo at the end to more electronica based.
  3. update: Made a quick fix to all of the drum loops. They sound less crappy now.
  4. www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=R1udNPdKLoM (X vs Zero theme) I'm not familiar with Saturos's theme, but I don't quite understand the connection between the two themes. To me it sounds like two different arrangements. Not that that's a bad thing, it just seems like an odd juxtaposition. Aside from that, your mix definitely needs some EPIC drums going on, since this is obviously an epic-style mix. I think some nice strong orchestral percussion would do this work worlds of good.
  5. Version 2 I fixed a number of mentioned issues. -The bass drums have been boosted -Mid and High end percussion have been tweaked via EQ to give them more energy -Percussion is also more varied (though I think I heard a mistake in sequencing in the render, Ill have to check that) -Changed some leads at certain areas, specifically with the solo guitar. It should sound a lot better now. -Other EQ balance issues have also been worked on. -Shortened the ending fadeout. About the fadeout and conservative nature of the mix: I'm not sure if I want to write an actual ending for this mix yet. I personally think the fadeout sounds fine as is. But that's still up in the air, so I might try something to see how it goes. As for being conservative, that was purposeful. I always have some level of conservativeness in my mixes, but I don't think this one is -too- conservative. I just decided to keep certain phrases from the original because I always think the mix should still sound like the original so it still has nostalgic value, but different enough so it counts as a mix.
  6. CURRENTLY WORKING ON: -drums (less repetitive) -vocals (unsure if I'll be using them) -non-fadeout ending (again, unsure if Ill use it) -EQ (re-working levels of leads and bass) WIP 1 WIP 2 WIP 2.5 (quick fix) (man I have such a bad habit of submitting -then- posting in this forum. Either way, I'm still working on this song as it's already been submitted, since I'm now finding things to improve upon. I still would like feedback from the community though.) Something I finally decided to get working on. I've wanted to remix this song for a very long time, so here it is. It's a chilled out remix of Infinity Mijinion's stage, but still energetic. In case you're not familiar with the original, here's a slightly compressed recording I found on YouTube (You might have to open it in a new tab/window. For me it won't play on the forum for some reason, but it definitely still is available on YT) http://youtube.com/watch?v=F9BIIF2CxIU]
  7. I like this a lot! The production is great. The only thing I think it could use is a little more variation. Maybe have the bass cut out for a short moment as a mix feature, or add in an original section or an instrument feature of some sort.
  8. Occasionally, I like to stray from writing originals and remixes to do a cover of one of my favorite original soundtracks. I see it as a challenge and great practice for production and self improvement in music writing generally. This is probably the most challenging one Ive done up to date, and I'm quite satisfied with it. --LINK--
  9. Dude, I fully support you guys starting up VGDJ again if you're up for it. That would be awesome.
  10. There are a lot of points where the engagement of different soundtracks doesn't sound quite right. I would recommend tweaking the melodies so that they can fit properly. Also, one piano lead of Karazhan's original soundtrack (the detuned chord) is a little off...might want to take a listen to that on the project file. Other than that, I can say I love this idea and arrangement. Karazhan's soundtrack is great, and your remix idea is great.
  11. www.soundclick.com is a good place to host songs and WIPs if you don't have your own webspace.
  12. Link: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=189668 (it's the one on top of the list. it says "k rool remix.") This is something I've been working on for a while on and off. It's got percussive elements from Captain K. Rool (DKC2) but the source tune is mostly from the first DKC. I know the intro kinda sucks, so please excuse that. This used to be a mix between King K. Rool and Captain K. Rool; DKC 1 and 2, respectively. Also, please don't tell me if the song is too close to the original or not. I know what the original sounds like, and I'm not terribly worried that. I'm looking more for constructive criticism, ideas & suggestions. Please, have a listen after I sweep a couple pounds of dust off my soundclick account. *cough* *hack*
  13. I want to see this project MOOOOOVE. I've actually been extremely idle as far as music making goes the past couple months, but I've been thinking of picking up my K.Rool mix and continuing to work on it again. Interest needs to be stirred I say into this project. Get it out there and make it known.
  14. Cool theme. If I don't enter, I use my level 7 powers of persuasion to make other people enter.
  15. Colds are for the lose - so sadly, I couldn't make it this year. I hope good times were had by all. Pics, audio & video are for the win :lessthanthree:

  17. It might not be a bad idea - there's plenty of time left to still plan an extra event like this. Of course it would have to be a unanimous decision with all of the people going to the meetup.
  18. We should totally all go see Wintuk on the same day Or not...too much money to think about something like that...however I have to agree on this planning of going to interesting places.
  19. (I really wish you could edit thread titles) Sonic CD (US) Stardust Speedway (bad future) >>Linkzor<< Basically the entire reason I submitted this was so that I could get feedback from the judges. Personally I don't know if it would even qualify as a remix if they liked it because it's rather far from the original. In any case, I like to know what other people think about it, constructive criticism and suggestions are great. Please don't tell me if they wont accept it unless you have something constructive to say in addition - that doesn't necessarily help much. I like candy (and by candy I mean feedback please)
  20. (I already submitted this, but I would like some feedback from peers as well as judges on this one) Sonic CD (US) Stardust Speedway (bad future) >>Linkzor<< Basically the entire reason I submitted this was so that I could get feedback from the judges. Personally I don't know if it would even qualify as a remix if they liked it because it's rather far from the original. In any case, I like to know what other people think about it, constructive criticism and suggestions are great. Please don't tell me if they wont accept it unless you have something constructive to say in addition. As I said, I'm doing this for feedback more than anything (submitting it early)
  21. Nooooo! You're making the peon cry...think of the peon!
  22. Ill have you know that I had 3 hours of sleep the previous night, so it doesn't count! On a lighter note - I'd suggest small groups rather than pairs, especially if it's a relatively large meetup. In addition - I definitely would like to go, I just want to know that there is a genuine interest from a lot of people in attending.
  23. I'd like to go - only I'd like to see more "definitely"s before I say definitely myself.
  24. Ohh. Fair enough, and thanks for clearing that up for me.
  25. I'm sure a good portion of the community here is familiar with Sonic CD and it's famous soundtrack(s), but I wonder how many are familiar with Darkstone, which was a not-very well known early 3D action RPG (essentially labeled as a Diablo clone). I've just come to realize that the music video at the end of the game performed by the band known as Audren (who seems to have very little traces on the web) sounds remarkably similar to Sonic Boom and the version from the end credits. It may just be coincidence, but the evidence I see here is that both songs were recorded specifically for video games from roughly the same time period. Also, the guitar riffs are remarkably similar, and the woman singing "The Darkstone Will Shine" does also sound similar enough to the vocals of "Sonic Boom" although the style of singing was quite different...I believe it's close. Any other thoughts or input?
