Dust where?

My computer keeps turning itself off. No warning, no shutdown screen, just turns off, as if it had just been unplugged. Five of the six times it's done this have been in the middle of exporting wavs from a mix I'm working on (one with a lot of tracks, and I'm exporting them to separate files to send to a collaborator). The sixth time didn't seem to be set off by anything in particular. Any idea what might be causing this, or how I might fix it?

Just got home from a week at Woodward gymnastics camp. It was AWESOME! Did heavy rings strength several times every day I was there (mostly worked in a spotting belt). My malteses have definitely gotten more solid (though still not as low as I'd like) Got a new dismount (double layout), as well as cleaning up my giants. Did a bunch of trampoline and tumbling as well -- I can now consistantly land a triple back on trampoline.

Great mix. And I LOVE the accoustic/ethnic breakdown. Percussion is especially well done.

Sounds to me like you're not lacking in ability, but rather in confidence. All n00bs suck. All n00bs find all the production stuff intimidating at first. But this is a hell of a lot better most people's first shots.

Checking in early this week, since I'm leaving for the OCR meetup tonight and going from there straight to a weeklong gymnastics camp. Been a decent week. Slacked off a bit monday and tuesday, but worked pretty hard wednesday and thursday. I'll be spending all of next week at Woodward, a weeklong gymnastics camp in PA. All-day access to some of the best facilities in the world. It's gonna be awesome. I'll try to get some videos while I'm there.

Did a ton of rings strength today. Went in this morning and, having left my wrist braces at home, I couldn't do any tumbling, so I spent most of the two hours I was working out doing either trampoline or rings strength. Then did some more cross work in the evening, just before going home.

You should call this mix "OMG TITTIES" (I'll give it a listen and leave some more helpful critique when I get home if I remember)

Check the forums. There's an archive of all concept art to date (and most of it is absolutely amazing) somewhere, but I forget where. There's probably a link somewhere on the forums.

This was undertaken as a project awhile back, and the forums are still up: www.imario.tk We ended up getting a ton of great ideas and concept art, but never really got past that. I think at this poitn it has sort of stalled and stagnated, but you can try to get the ball rolling again; no point in reinventing the wheel.

Jill, do you know if there are any buses or anything that go from Philly to State College?

Oh man, I was just watching the olympic trials, and it got me really pumped up and excited. I think I'll be getting some pretty intense workouts over the next couple weeks.

Like I said: Talk to trenthian. If you and he can arrange to have this played by an actual orchestra, it would fucking pwn. (also: if you ever want to be any good, you can't just give up on the production aspects; you're gonna have to learn them sooner or later, so you might as well make it sooner)

Holy shit, this is awesome. Production is meh, but I LOVE the arrangement, and I normally don't like orchestral arrangements. There are some points where the samples work relatively well, but still, if I were a judge, I would give this a NO solely on production. See what you can find in the way of samples, but also check out zircon's real instruments tutorial. EDIT: HOLY SHIT! You know what else you could do? Talk to trenthian. I know at one point he had an actual orchestra at his disposal for remix performance; I don't know if that orchestra is any good, or even whether the option is still open, but it's definitely worth looking into.

Didn't do much actual training today, but took one turn on rings and nailed all my strength holds for my routine: back uprise to cross, press from cross to maltese, press to inverted cross, and back uprise to straddle planche. I'll see if I can video the routine sometime soon.
