Some tracks have different titles in the zophar.net version. ----------------------------------- ORIGINAL POST: So, Bahamut and I are running a DKC2 project. A few months ago, we invited a number of remixers to participate, giving our favorite remixers first dibs. Yes, we're elitist twits. Deal with it. (though admittedly there are probably a few people that should have been on the original list of invitees who we forgot. Sorry) ANYWAY, the first deadline was yesterday, and the project is now comming out of secrecy, and any unclaimed tracks are open. If you want to claim a track, send me a WIP, and if I like it, I'll give you the claim. CLARIFICATION ABOUT HOW TO AUDITION: If you want to claim a track, send me a WIP OF THE TRACK YOU WANT TO MIX. If I like it, and that track hasn't already been claimed (or if whoever claimed it missed the last deadline and hasn't sent me an update yet), the track is yours. Be forewarned: we're gonna be assholes about the due dates. If you miss a due date, your track is again open and goes to the first person to send me a WIP I like. If you miss a due date, but then manage to get me an updated WIP before somebody else does, you get your claim back, but if somebody else beats you to it, tough shit.

Kareshi’s Mystic Awakening: Music of Final Fantasy VI CD
Geoffrey Taucer replied to AkumuHau's topic in General Discussion
I think you missed the irony in Mustin's post. Nevertheless, I agree with you, to an extent. Did Kareshi get the necessary licenses/permission for this? If so, I'll buy. If not, I'll pass. -
THey nerfed rest again? Come on! They already nerfed it from 64 to melee. That sucks.

OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
Geoffrey Taucer replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
Is there any way to turn off the feature that epxands youtube links? Here's why I ask: http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=4193 -
Once I was playing a match against my brother, where I was G&W and he was Ness. I caught 3 PK flashes with G&W's down-b. The result was quite epic.

OCR Conspiracy Theories.
Geoffrey Taucer replied to Less Ashamed Of Self's topic in General Discussion
Somebody find more pictures of the guy from Destinos. I'm still convinced that he's the NWG, and that the pic used by thecoop simply isn't a good picture of him. -
Good as in powershield everything and react to your moves on the first frame, or good as in actually intelligent and fun to play against?
-
Oh, man, this is great. In a few days, you guys will be a couple of happy puppies.
-
Speaking of which, are CPU players any less idiotic in this one than in melee?
-
Wow, all these DKC2 requests.

Anyone going for the Slash guitar?
Geoffrey Taucer replied to BluefoxIcy's topic in Music Composition & Production
If you're looking for maximum bang-to-buck ratio, you should definitely consider a Carvin. Custom built, reasonably high quality, reasonably low prices. I use a Custom Bolt, which came to around $800 if memory serves, and I absolutely love it. -
Oh my god that's amazing. It's fucking brilliant!

I'll assume you're talking about Still Alive. Unless it's a Harmony/Ziwtra collab or something else epic like that, there's no way any remix could possibly do justice to the original.

A good program for making rock music?
Geoffrey Taucer replied to CloudvsTidus4Life's topic in Music Composition & Production
I forgot to mention drums in my post. Everybody's reccomending DFH, but honestly I have yet to reach the point where I couldn't be satisfied with free drums (usually either ns kit free or the ken ardency kit) -
A good program for making rock music?
Geoffrey Taucer replied to CloudvsTidus4Life's topic in Music Composition & Production
sixto.exe. Best rock remixing program in the world. ... Anyway, now for a real answer. There is no one sequencer that's better for rock music; any half decent program will work for any genre you can dream up. If you're looking for a sequencer, FLstudio, Sonar, and Cubase are all pretty popular. If you're looking for something free, Reaper is excellent from what I hear. It's not technically free, but you can download a full demo with no built-in limitations, and it's pretty cheap to buy if you like it. If you play guitar or bass and want to use live recordings in your music, you will need a decent audio interface. I believe there are some that will suit your purposes for well under $100. One you might try that's specifically designed for guitar is the line6 toneport. If your audio interface doesn't have it's own amp-modelling software, you'll need a VST amp modeler. If you're willing to spend money on this, I HIGHLY reccomend Amplitube 2. If you want free options, I suggest you check out Sixto's guide. If you do not play guitar or bass yourself, then you'll need the sounds for that. There are a number of free soundfonts at www.hammersound.net; you'll need a VST soundfont wrapper in order to use those. I use SFZ. You can also find a number of VSTs for just about anything you can possibly imagine at www.kvraudio.com. It's extremely difficult to get a fake guitar to sound real, and nearly impossible to do with only free stuff. Nevertheless, it's a good idea to experiment with free stuff before shelling out the cash for a commercial guitar library. One thing to keep in mind is that there's a lot more to a guitar's sound than just the tone of the sample. To get a realistic sound, you'll need to humanize the part; add pitch bends, slides, and so on to make the performance sound less robotic. You can try running your sampled guitars (even the ones that already have some distortion) through a distortion and/or amp modeler VST. There are probably other people who can be more helpful than I can in telling you how to fake guitars; I always use real ones, so I'm not really an expert on how best to use fake ones. -

OCR Conspiracy Theories.
Geoffrey Taucer replied to Less Ashamed Of Self's topic in General Discussion
That was the theory I shared at VGL. I dunno, thecoop makes some good points, but that picture isn't a very good one; he looks SOOO much more like the NWG in the actual show. Can anybody find any more pics of Luiz from Destinos? I've been looking, but haven't been able to find any. -
OCR01685 - Final Fantasy VI "Dirt Devil"
Geoffrey Taucer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I agree that the fadeout is lame, but understandable considering how close to the deadline this was done. Ending aside, this mix is brilliant. Sexy swingin beat, badass synths... this is definitely one of Andy's best, and that's no small feat. -
Shantae: Harborage [beta 5]
Geoffrey Taucer replied to suzumebachi's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I like it. THe guitars and chip sounds work well together, I think. However, arrangement wise a lot of it might be a bit too close to the original, if memory serves. Tone on the guitar isn't what I would normally call great, but it works well in this context. -
Who the fuck is Trenthian?
