I've always considered the two to be synonymous.

I dunno, I think OCR is pretty solidly within the geek shell. But at least you have company, right?

Who has Kirby been eating? SECOND COURSE

There's a hork bajir kirby on the SA thread. Not as cool or as recognizable as the andalite one, though. -
Bloody Tears (and Another Termina)

Bass: acoustic would probably work best, though electric could work as well if it has a clean, light sound. Percussion: I'm looking for something like Riverdance, or perhaps some of Great Big Sea's songs; some slick bodhran work perhaps supplemented by hand percussion and maybe a traditional drumset as well. -
Yes, but since I'm the coolest Jeremy of them all, when somebody says "Jeremy" and doesn't specify which one, they're usually talking about me.

Bloody Tears (and Another Termina)

Ok, bringing this one back up. Not for an update, but for a collab request. Usa isn't going to be able to do this one, so I need somebody who can help out with percussion and bass. I'm looking for festive irish acoustic percussion. If anybody's interested, let me know. -
OCR01672 - F-Zero "The Freedom of Zero"
Geoffrey Taucer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Oshit! Another harmony mix! Anybody familiar with Harmony's past work will, of course, have very high expectations of this mix. And the mix certainly doesn't dissappoint. Awesome track. Now brandon, how the fuck did you do that at 0:39? Where the vox transforms into a synth and slides up? Awesome, seamless effect, and I have no idea how you did it. -

I don't even know where to start. Many of the people I count among my best friends are people I wouldn't have met if not through OCR. It has also hugely expanded my horizons as a listener, introducing me to many new styles and artists I wouldn't have otherwise listened to. It has vastly expanded my abilities as a musician and producer; I sucked when I got here, and every ounce of improvement I've made since then has been due to 1) My ongoing quest to make better remixes and 2) constant critique from members of the community. I have made a ton of potentially useful professional contacts. OCR has impacted my life in such a huge way that I cannot begin to imagine what my life would be like had it never existed. Three cheers for David Lloyd!

Holy shit, just saw this one on the SA thread (not mine): This is epic win right here. -
I've always thought cowboy bebop was rediculously overrated. As are most (though not all) of Miyazaki's films. Anyway, Taucer's picks: Paranoia Agent Millenium Actress Ghost in the Shell Samurai Champloo Gundam Seed Wolf's Rain Blood + (not much depth of plot, but some wicked fight scenes) The first episode of Bobobobo-bobobo (first episode is fucking hilarious -- but the rest of the series just recycles the same jokes) Things to avoid: Dragonball Z and all spinoffs thereof Every Gundam series except Seed Naruto

omgyes. Joe speaks the truth.

Conceptually, this is really nice. Guitars are well-played. However, both guitars and percussion are really lacking in punch; the whole mix is quite muddy. Cut the reverb a tad, and EQ the elements so they aren't all battling for the same frequency ranges. Right now it seems like the entire mix is in the upper-mid range, with absolutely nothing of note in the rest of the spectrum. Is there a bass in there at all? The mix could really use one. Percussion is not as interesting as it could be; in fact, it's a bunch of bland 2-measure loops. Granted, it switches between a number of different bland 2-measure loops, but I still think it needs a bit more variation. Transitions are abrupt, and most of the ideas really aren't developed enough. I'm not sure if this is deliberate or not; it does sort of suit the style to have abrupt changes. However, the sheer number of abrupt, zero-warning transitions throughout the piece makes it feel like a montage of ideas, rather than a cohesive mix. The mix definitely shows promise, but work remains to be done before it's OCR-ready, imo.

Mario Kart 64 Ending theme
Geoffrey Taucer replied to Sole Signal's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Ooh, this is nice. Excellent use of effects. Piano, strings, and synths are spot-on. You have a lot going on, but it avoids being chaotic, and all the elements are distinctly audible, nothing gets drowned out. That's some very skillful arranging and mixing. My only complaint is that the bass and percussion are a bit sparse, and do very little to enhance the song. Both could really use some filling out. I look forward to hearing a completed version of this. It's beautiful so far. -
Whoah, looks like somebody (seventh from the left -- sorry, I forget your name) is doing a little more than DJPing.

Erm... I'm having issues with the download; it's cutting off at the end, just after the music box comes in. Only a couple seconds missing, but there should be a fadeout there. (Not sure if it's just me having this problem or what) -
