  1. Have you tried playing the Shining Force games? Those are the best games on the virtual console - You know, excluding the universally accepted classics. I'm already playing Shining Force 2 the seventh time. Anyway, Metroid Other M could've used some work, and now I've realized the truth behind the hype. Yet, I still want to play it again. And yes, Prime series was better.
  2. Metroid: Dread - Nintendo's version of Duke Nukem Forever.
  3. I prefer beer and liquor, like whiskey and rum. Anything but wine really. I don't mind a white russian or a grasshopper every now and then either. But, yeah, someone earlier mentioned the thing that irks me the most - and that's how people are listening to this stuff with autotune and bad lyrics when they could listen to something of higher quality. I come from a strong rock background, and back in the day, you had to be able to carry a tune. And if you only had a decent rage, not great singing ability - Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Joey Ramone - you had to have GREAT songs that worked with your voice and your key. It's not pop hate. I understand how some of you like pop music, and as a fan of eighties and early to mid-nineties pop, I don't think it's all crap. I thought the mid-nineties was bad for music, but even the stuff I hated back then, especially the hip hop, sounds light years ahead now. Those guys had talent. Compare Kesha to a bubblegum pop artist of the eighties who likely has at least six times as much range and vocal ability. THIS is what bubble gum pop music ideally sounded like in the eighties. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwxTBdJo_ow Yeah, like Kesha, it's kitchy little bubblegum music for girls. And no, Cyndi didn't even have full credits for writing the song. And the makeup is bad. But it sounds great. The lyrics flow well, and the woman has a four-octave vocal range with a buttery, angel-like tone and delivery. And there were more like her back then that could sing. And she can still sing circles around any top twenty artist now. Even hip hop from the nineties is superior now. Compare pretty much any current hip hop, excluding NAS, Outkast and maybe two other people, to Gansta's Paradise by Coolio. You can't even touch it. The music was just more imaginitive, more original, and just as catchy as today. And I'm not one of those guys to say that all music is bad now, but it certainly isn't selling as well as the garbage is. There are lots of new musicians I like now, but two thirds of them are people who remix video game music or mock the current music climate, or emulate artitsts of the past. If you're looking for some good bubblegum pop, try Aqua or Cyndi Lauper. Oddly enough, I like it when autotune is used in electronic music and even OCR stuff. IMO, pop singers should stick to being able to sing, as autotune doesn't sound so out of place in its "emulated" environment. Then again, if Kesha is what floats your boat, I just have to be a man and accept that.
  4. I've been writing, recording, and performing music for about thirteen years, and I say she sucks giant donkey balls. She can't sing. That's a fact.
  5. I'm old. Kesha wasn't even a stain in her Dad's pants when I played number-munchers, which I vaguely recall playing in grade school. Ugh, Kesha is very bad people, come on we can do better than this.
  6. Kesha is absolutely horrible. Disliking Kesha but liking some of her songs is like saying that you don't like donkey shit but like to grab a pile of it and smell it up close when nobody is looking. She can't even sing. Even the WORST singers from a site that remixes video game music can easily outperform her. Even after her "voice" is filtered through autotune twenty times over, she still sounds like ear-rape. Do not support this drivel, do not try to glorify it, and don't post such mindless brain-garbage in the holy haven that is overclocked remix. Edit: And I used to hate artists because they were only in it for the money - Now we have these "artists" that are in it for the money and don't even try to make a good album. Hell, Debbie Gibson could run circles around her, and her music was utter shit.
  7. I just beat the game. Whatever reviewer gave this game less than 9/10 should be shot in the face with a revolver.
  8. People will bitch about anything. It's like when I'm at work. People will gripe because they are cut early in the day, and they will gripe if they are kept late and make extra money. They will bitch either way. But there's something I want to say besides that - there's an easy way to tell whether a game is good or not - If you find yourself wanting to play it all the time, or if you dislike turning the game off and going to bed - that means that it is a good game. And that's what this game has done to me. Sexism, cheesy cut scenes and all. So far it's good stuff.
  9. I have to agree with that one Overflow. Good call. Although the music has been pretty cool so far, the guys who did Super Metroid and the Hip Tanaka stuff was just untouchable. I didn't like the music in the Prime games, although it was good for atmosphere. I got to hurry up and beat this game. Metroid time.
  10. There are a lot of improvements over the prime games. The main downgrade is the graphics. Cutscenes are awesome, but the in-game graphics are less than what Prime 3 had to offer. The controls are very good, and there is a strong element of fear. I don't understand what people are saying about the cutscenes. They are cool. The map system is also dramatically improved from the prime games, and the transitions are also much better, like going from standing, to morph, and back. I think that if they would've made Prime 4, people would bitch about redundancy, and I think if they made Super Metroid 2, people would bitch about the game doing nothing new. It's another Metroid game. You like Metroid? Get the game.
  11. Well, I"ll say this. If you don't like this one, there's always Metroid Prime Trilogy. I am very eager to play this game, I wish someone could teleport me a copy. Thanks for the reviews, info and stuff. Edit: However, I'm not liking what people are saying about the game being sexist. Judging from what I heard, it probably is. I like Samus to be a strong, independent type. But, I'm still interested and I will buy this game when it comes out and probably eat it like a new yorks strip steak covered in soy sauce.
  12. Good God. I downloaded Phantasy Star IV three weeks ago. I have never before played a Phantasy Star game. I was a Nintendo fan back in the day, and I played all the popular, and great, RPGs available on Nintendo consoles - Earthbound, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, Super Mario RPG, etc.. My little brother had a Genesis, and I was able to play Sonic, Streets of Rage, Ristar, Altered Beast, and a lot of Sega classics, but it would be another fifteen years or so until I tried a Phantasy Star game. I was kinda disappointed that virtual console has been so lackluster lately, so I went into the back-catalogue and finally made the eight dollar plunge - I'm poor as hell right now so eight dollars don't come easy - and I have to say "Wow." What a great game. Everything is so well designed and I really think that this is an under-rated series. What really got me was that the game continued to surprise me over and over again. The first time you get into the Land Rover, the first time your travel to another planet. This is the definitive space RPG. I kinda feel guilty for neglecting this series for all these years. Anyway, it's just a really unique spin on the RPG genre and I think it's really unfair how the JRPG gets pinned down and disprected so much. I think that's because modern JRPGs are kinda just milking a bygone era and not injecting true passion - Regardless, I was just wondering if there are any fans of the series on here - there are remixes, so there has to be. What can you tell me about the series and do you recommend that I play every game in the original series? I've heard that IV is the best, and some say II is the best. Many say that III kinda sucks. Does anybody else think the music and the cutscenes are awesome? Also, do you agree that Rika is awesome? C'mon? I'm geeking out over this game.
  13. If I anybody has done work please let me know. ReLyance repsonded quickly and did an awesome job and I will definitely use his work for the album; However, if anyone else worked on this, we can still use your art for other things. I just don't want anyone who helped to be hurt, because that would hurt me. So whoever did work, please let me know. Thanks ReLyance and thanks to the rest of you. You are all wondeful, talented people. Gracias.
  14. Thanks for your enthusiasm Edward. ReLyance went ahead and beat the other guys to a bunch. All you do such amazing work. I appreciate the gesture though. I know I'm gonna sound like a dick either way but thank you.
  15. If you're not too busy, I'd like you to do the artwork for my band's album! I need it soon, though. I don't have a lot of money, but I'll throw in fifty bucks and you'll get full credit of course.

  16. Yeah, I do. Care to do some work for a hard rock album?
  17. Thanks. I appreciate your enthusiasm. I have tons of pictures of the members of the band. There are only three members, I'd like to that on the left inside inlay, and credits and all that stuff on the right inlay. I have pictures of us and I also have a friend taking pictures tomorrow - trees, gravestones, and whatnot -and I was thinking of using those somewhere in the art...maybe you are interested? Maybe we should try something else? Maybe you do digital work and you have better ideas? But really, if you have a good concept, please, hit me up. I'm not really that picky. I'm looking for something to fit the music. Basically, a logo and some artwork to fill in the gaps! After we have artwork, Brian, my producer, and I will add in the text, the thank yous, credits and all that stuff. Or maybe you want to do that to - We just need to fit them into the templates diskmakers uses, which shouldn't be a problem for you guys. Brian and I can take care of it unless you're big into that part of the design. Artwork is the focus here.
  18. I am releasing my somewhat inactive band's final recording sessions as a full album this September. I am releasing this album because I want closure in my life for the work I've done as a musician. I am getting the actual CD produced through DiskMakers. It will be available through Amazon, iTunes, and CDBaby. I have to have the artwork done in two weeks. We are only producing three hundred copies for starters, but if it takes off, then more copies will be produced as neccessary We have a dark, sorta gothic hard rock sound. Our band is called The Final Nights and the name of our album will be "Build a Fire" which will be released in September. Since it is a dark, BUT NOT EMO, hard rock album, I was hoping to have a kinda gothic, woodsy artwork. The title track itself is Build a Fire, and we were thinking of including a burning campfire and some embers in the artwork. I have many pictures of the band, and would like to include photos of each of the three members inside the four panel inlay. That's right, four panels. Front cover, back panel, inner two panels. Then there's the disc, behind the disk and the back cover. I need the artwork, but I will do the template work. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but I'll pay you fifty bucks and you will also get to keep the rights to your work and will get credit for art work on the album. So, is it okay if I see some of your stuff? I know that there's a lot of artists out there, a lot of very talented ones. Here is a link to where you can listen and download some of our songs, for free of course. http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Final-Nights/140182819343707?v=app_6917629807 Whoever's really interested can check the whole album if they want. It's twelve tracks total.
  19. That is awesome. My answer is no. Sometimes I can hear people's ringtones and they have Super Mario or Zelda but that's pretty much it.
  20. You're all a bunch of furries!! LOL.
  21. I think that Nintendo has filled it's quota for Ocarina fans. I think that they are really moving on with this one. I hope that they refuse to cater to fanboys and really just do something new here. I am very excited about this game. I like the graphics - very fun and adventurous, and I am like many others looking forward to an authentic orchestral musical score, not the cheap midi we're used to. The game just looks like it is doing what it wants. Twilight Princess is good but I feel like it was created as a labour of servitude, not a labor of fun. We'll see.
  22. Wow. We're pretty much polar opposites on this issue. I'd take Mega Man or X over Volnutt any day. I wish they'd quit putting him in there. He was awful in Tatsunoko VS Capcom.
  23. Fourthed. Anyway, I think the 3DS is a wise step for Nintendo. The DS and Wii are largely successful because they do something the others guys don't do - not until this Autumn. But the 3DS has capabilities that distinguish it from the guys who are taking the DS market share - especially Apple and the phone companies. Americans are whores for whatever is the most cutting edge. Nintendo are nailing it, yet again. But now they have something called third party support, something they lacked five years ago.
  24. Yes it is. I am beyond impressed with Nintendo and pretty much everything they've done this E3. I haven't even...holy crap a new Donkey Kong Country game? This is just sick. Do me Nintendo. Do me. Did one of you just say Kid Icarus?
  25. Nintendo have really upped the ante lately. Their new games look very creative. The Kirby game really looks like Nintendo are shaking things up. THANK YOU Nintendo. I'm sorry to sound like a broken record, but Skyward Sword looks awesome. I'm happy about the vibrant style, and the controls look sick - not just the motion plus but the way how Link can actually run and jump. I really liked Twilight Princess, and I'm playing through it again right now, but it looks like Miyamoto is holding a knife to the throats of the designers and programmers while this new game is being developed. I haven't even came around to Galaxy 2, Star Successor, and Other M hasn't even come out. NBA Jam and Golden Eye. Holy shitballs.
