Agreed, the character models are weak. Imagine if they were somewhere near the detail of those in Mario Galaxy. I understand there is a lot more going on in this game (lots of racers and stuff), but look at what EA (yeah I know) did with Medal of Honor Heroes 2.

They should have fucking Mario Galaxy graphics in my opinion. There's a little more detail and more lighting effects over the Gamecube Kart, and that's all I've noticed. But wait until we see it in action then I will give you my true verdict on that. The track designs look awesome for sure. I am very psyched about Mario Kart Wii. 3X more than Smash Brothers or any other game. The Mario Kart games have brought many people in my life together many times. We've had a good deal of fun summers, drunken arguments, and broken controllers over the Mario Kart series. Even my gf rocks on backseat with double dash. I certainly hope that Wii wheel will allow her to hang with us since she can't ride on my back for this round, which Reggie claimed will be the case. From what I've read, this looks like the best Mario Kart game ever. Although I am a certified snaker, I'm glad that they've made the turn boost automatic, because this puts the focus back on the action and less on implementing difficult commands that distract from combat and steering. Mario Kart summer here go. Bring it the fuck on please.

Nah, this is a recommendation thread, not a favorites thread. I already plan on putting DKC underwater on it. I can't listen to anything right now because I'm at work without headphones (just IPod with short headphones). I'll check out that possible weirdness above me in a minute.

Yeah, I know. Like, what am I thinking? Well, I thought about making a CD full of the best aquatic-sounding music I know about. Of course, OCRemix has a good deal of it, and I plan on putting some of that on the CD (or maybe 2 CDs). That led me to the thought that there's probably lots of good water-sounding techno, trance, and house music out there. But I don't know about much of it. I'm mostly a rock and metal guy. So, I was wondering if you could give me recommendations. Lyric and instrumental recommendations are welcome, and the typical theme is water, oceans, beaches - I think you get the idea. Relaxing stuff is good, and so is upbeat major-key stuff. Well?

chiptunes music through real instruments (Guitar/Bass)
Devyn replied to LowFatCannibal's topic in General Discussion
I would like to be able to hit a switch on the floor and go from using my distortion and delay right to "8-bit" noise. When I say "8-bit", I mean something that sounds something like it. I wouldn't want to do a bunch of programming. -

I'd be willing to shell the cash out for a midi pickup. I wouldn't mind throwing in some "8-bit" sounds here and there during a live show. If you find out a cheap alternative, please let me know. I have a cheap guitar that's just begging for this. -

This sounds awesome. I would like to know how to do this. I never use my neck pickup anyway - So, you have a MIDI pickup and a processor of some sort? It would be cool if you could switch between your standard sound and 8-bit synthesized sound. -
IGN Declares Blu-Ray Winner of The Format War

DVD is still the winner. -
"I let no man drag me down so low as to make me hate him." On a different note, I've been ignored by a few people on here. Apparently, I'm "annoying". Oh well, you gotta suck it up I guess.

All week days, often weekends too.

I have it on Genesis and Gamecube. Edit: Just looked it up. It's only 4 dollars. That's not a bad deal at all. Of course, it says that it 'has the benefits of high definition graphics'. I really don't know about that, but it's still a good deal.

Melee + 12 pack of beer = good as brawl, so up yours.

What's funny is that if the costumes were different people would gripe even more. That doesn't mean I wouldn't like some alternate costumes. Actually, I think this could very well happen, due to the diversity of costumes in some recent Capcom games, like Dead Rising. I do hope that half of the characters are new, but I'm putting my money down on awesome game play, which is what Street Fighter games are made of.

It's a new system for 'countering' and 'coming back' but it's not like parrying. We'll see. The interview I read (on 1up.com) said that the confinement that the walls create help make Street Fighter what it is, but I have no idea how they are going to implement that.

I hope Ryu has that bad-ass side kick from Street Fighter 3 (back down toward kick).
-
But this game takes place chronologically between 2 and 3. It's filling in the gap.

I'm willing to throw in five bucks on the gay stripper.

A little bit of humiliation can go a long way. If you don't teach him a lesson, he'll keep doing it. If you show some retaliation, it will show them not to do the same thing again. When I was 14, a.k.a. "a kid", I robbed stores left and right. Vandalized things. As you expected, my shit got ruined, and I deserved every bit of it. It taught me a lesson, and I started to straighten up after realizing that I can't get away with pulling crap on people. I say ridicule the kid. He deserves it. You're calling him out on the internet, for what he is. It's not like you're physically beating him. Once he realizes what he's done, leave him be. I don't agree with the philosophy of waiting until someone grows up to inform them that they are doing wrong. Then you just end up with a full grown assclown.

Eye for an eye.

Hey. I decided I wanted to learn something new on guitar the other day, so I looked up some video game tabs. I found this excellent stand-alone piece. It's mostly single notes, and sounds great even without accompaniment. http://www.gametabs.net/nes/dragon-quest-i/tantegel-castle It's a Dragon Warrior song that is super-fun and sounds really good. I've tried it with one of my acoustics and an electric with slight delay and distortion. When playing on the electric , I mute the strings to keep it clean. (I also use a pick for this one over finger style) Even if you don't know the source tune, give it a try. So, let me know what you think, and give a recommendation if you want.

Well, to each his own I suppose, but I still don't see why it's such a big deal. Now, the Wii not having a hard drive at all, THAT bugs me a bit.
-
I agree with you that using up the hard drive is a problem. It's inefficient in that way, but in the long run, it saves you time. Personally, I'd rather save time, and I can clear the hard drive when I want to. I don't blame Capcom (and the other companies that do it) for trying something different. I'd rather deal with the 20 minute install and then have quick loading times throughout the rest of the game, especially if I plan on playing the game for more than 40 hours (and most of my games, excluding my old school games, get this kind of attention).
-
I think not, because you're given the option to buy the game or not, or purchase the game on a different console, like the X-box. Still, from a computer guy's perspective, isn't this more efficient - Those loading times are going to add to a far greater number than 25 minutes. This is fact. Personally, I'd rather do this for all of my games, but the Wii is an entirely different animal.

Hi friends, romans, and countrymen. I've been scouring around the internet lately, and I've ran into various sites and webcomics complaining about "20 minute wait times" that occur due to PS3 games having to install data on the console so that load times will be fast when you are actually playing the game. To be specific, you only do this once, that is when you put the disc in the console for the first time. Now, Penny Arcade, Kotaku, and a bunch of others are griping about this. Here's an excert from Kotaku: "And with a game like Devil May Cry 4, you can understand a developer wanting to get the most out of the hardware (even if they should have given us the option of an install). The trade-off - ie fast loading times - for a big game like that, people are OK with. But Hot Shots Golf 5? If the final retail build ships like this, a 20-odd-minute wait and 5GB of HDD space for a cartoon golf game is taking the piss. Dear PS3 developers: this is a worrying trend. Please stop." Alright, this is pathetic. I can understand being slightly agitated over having to store t gigabytes of information on your hard drive for a game, but this is ridiculous. You already have to wait several years for your favorite games to come out. Why can't you wait 20 minutes? People will bitch about anything. While waiting during that horrid "20 minutes of pain", why don't you go do something else? Cook some food, have sex with someone, go pick up some beer, post on the internet, walk your dog, clean your bathroom, PLAY a different console or game until the game in installed, do some homework, buy some groceries, exercise, call your mom, shave your armpits, take out garbage... Okay, that's what I wanted to say.

Just kidding about the whole Amsterdam thing. There's no substitute for Brawl, although I'm sure a trip to Amsterdam would be an 'enlightening' experience.
